17 SHUTTLE - BLACK

17 SHUTTLE - BLACKMy Dell XPS 17 is a bit of a behemoth and according to the specs, it shouldn't quite fit in the Shuttle 2.0, but it does. The only issue I've found is when you close the 17 Shuttle 2.0's lid over the XPS 17 it rubs just a little on the front of the laptop.

This is not a big deal as the 17 Shuttle 2.0's interior is nicely finished with soft fabric. Actually, pulling the case's top slightly towards you as you lower it over the laptop allows the case to close without even touching the laptop.

This 'rubbing' is certainly not a deal breaker and if I hadn't already known about the specs (according to the specs, the XPS 17 is 1/10" wider than the interior of the 17 Shuttle 2.0) it never would have occurred to me to think the case might be too small for the Dell XPS 17. In fact, if anything this creates a safer and snugger fit for my laptop.

Speaking of this case, it is an excellent case! It is well-built, extremely functional and looks great. I've noticed that while waiting for class with laptop in hand I get a lot of looks from classmates. I think the "portrait" orientation of the case, which is a little unusual, might be partially responsible for this, but it's also a very nice looking case! I opted for the Basic Black, a bit traditional but it's a very nice looking case. I have to admit the pink DID appeal to me and I am secure enough in my manhood to carry pink, but my daughter 'Pinky' would no doubt have nicked the case within a week.

The 17 Shuttle 2.0 has an excellent design and makes using a laptop on the go an easy and enjoyable experience.

When you're ready to work, it's a simple process: you set the case down, grab the two zippers and run them around to the back of the case, open the lid, and you're ready to go! The laptop never has to leave the case!

On the inside of the case are four orange, rubber pedestals that raise the laptop up so air can flow and heat can dissipate. They are 1/4 inch thick, look nicely high-tech (not that you'll ever see them) and have velcro on the bottom so they can be repositioned across the case.

I'm ambivalent about these feet: when I sit with my laptop on my lap, I can feel warmth on my legs (which feels pretty darned good on a cold day). On the other hand, I've never tested the case with the feet removed, so perhaps it is cooling my laptop and I just don't know it. At any rate, they can't hurt and you can always remove them if you want.

As stated earlier, the inside of the case is nicely finished. There is a band inside the case lid, approximately 1" wide, that feels like it might be aluminum, that runs around the inside of the perimeter of the lid. This is what protects the edges of your laptop when the lid is closed and it feels very sturdy and secure.

There is a nylon strap on either side of the case that keeps the lid from opening farther than 90 degrees. This is a very nice feature as it keeps the lid from opening too far and actually gives your screen a little privacy. They only problem I have with them is they block my USB ports on the sides of my laptop (at the back corners.) When plugging in my drive I have to pull the strap out of the way, no big deal.

On the outside of the case are two pouches. One is zippered and is large enough to carry my charging brick, with power cords, and a cordless mouse (I chose the Logitech G700.) To save on space and make things easier, I bought a retractable power cord that is really nice (Zip-Linq, $12 or so at Frys).

The other pouch is for 8.5 x 11 inch documents and secures with a mere 1.5" of velcro, enough to keep your full-size papers secure, but I don't think I'd carry anything small or valuable (like your paycheck.) It's perfect for syllabi, handouts and other crap that you wouldn't really fret about losing, although I think it unlikely that would happen anyway.

Finally, there is a very sturdy handle that has a thick rubber grip that you will really appreciate when you are standing in line for 20 minutes waiting for class, the subway, etc. The handle is black with a the orange Higher Ground logo on the side. It would look really snazzy if the whole thing was orange (Hint, hint.)

All in all this is an AWESOME case and I would give it 10 stars if I could. It's a very well-made product and I couldn't be happier.

Well, I could be happier and this is where I will make suggestions for the future:

1. Someone else mentioned adding brightly colored pulls to the zipper tabs on the case. This is an EXCELLENT idea as it would allow you to quickly see that your case is indeed zipped shut so you don't accidentally pick it up and dump $2,000 of laptop on the floor (*GASP*)!

2. A second (colored) pull on the accessory compartment would be VERY nice.

3. It would most excellent to have a slit on each side of the accessory compartment that would allow you to permanently feed your charging cord into the "cargo bay" so you wouldn't have to pull the cord out of the accessory compartment, around the edge of the case and to the back of your laptop.

It's kind of a PITA to do this and, let's face it, looks sloppy and this case deserves better!

I've been contemplating doing it myself and now that I've had the case for a few months I may give it a try.

Anyway, if you want a truly boffo case that looks awesome and does an even more-awesome job of transporting and protecting your laptop, GET THIS ONE!

I took several days looking and evaluating different computer bags for my new MacBook Pro 17". I had specific needs in mind, not too big, not too small and enough room to tuck in the elec. cord and a few flash drives. I am really glad I chose this bag. It's really well constructed, perfect size, great color and also has a clip on handle in case I want to sling it over my shoulder. I really like how I can use it while traveling like a small desk. Very cool product and I highly recommend it.

After going between a heavier Hartmann laptop bag and a Victorinox backpack, I have really gotten to prefer this lightweight Shuttle. I purchased the mesh backpack straps and love carrying as a backpack. It is so light that I don't feel like a pack mule. This simple bag holds the basics, does not let me over-stuff it with extraneous items, and is great for taking through security at the airport. The slim and un-bulky form factor that allows me to use the laptop while still in the bag on my tray table also makes airport security checks much easier.

I have a 17.3" HP laptop and this case works great for it. I called company before ordering just to make sure my particular laptop would fit and the girl assured me right a way that it would and was very very pleasant. This case is not only pretty but extremely well made and I would most assuredly recommend it.

Targus 15.4" Gerney Backpack

Gerney Notebook Backpack Fits Up To 15.4IN NotebooksI have a 15.4 inch macbook pro, there's a bit of extra space around it in the pouch. The bag holds a good amount, maybe 2 1 inch binders, some notebooks, your cables and a mouse. Although you might not want all that weight on the computer. There are two pouches on the side that can fit a big nalgene each. It's comfortable and a good size. I thought I wanted something smaller, but its just the right size for what I need. It's well constructed... there's a pouch on the bottom that I'm not sure what its for. Anybody know?

I needed a backpack for my Dell XPS m170, but I didn't want one of those huge monster XL backpacks for 17inch laptops. Although this backpack is designed for 15.4in laptops, mine fits in well enough (although the top restraint strap inside the bag doesn't fit around, but it's no big deal). I manage to fit all my other accessories in the bag as well (cell phone, mouse, ac adapter, etc) A great bag!

Buy Targus 15.4" Gerney Backpack Now

I bought this backpack due to a recommendation by a friend. It's a great pack sturdy, looks cool, and it has lots of pockets (two side mesh pockets, a small pocket on the very bottom where I keep my keys because I can reach it without taking it off, and a music player pocket on the top with a port for your headphones to come through, not to mention the two main compartments, one with a padded laptop pocket and the other with an inner mesh pocket, ID pocket, and three pen/pencil holders).

The only thing about it that didn't earn it 5 stars is its expandability. It's really quite sturdy which is nice but you can't really stuff a whole lot into it. It can usually hold a book and two three ring binders with my computer. But if you're planning on toting around a ton of books or binders, I'd pass this one up for a bigger bag.

After using this backpack for 6 months or so, I like it even more than the day I got it. It's pretty big, very sturdy, and holds up well in different types of weather. It's not waterproof, but it keeps light amounts of rain off of my stuff. I'm not sure what else to say about a backpack other than it's worth the price.

My son HAD to have a Northface, but they are so expensive. He told me they last for a long time. I found this one, and the price was better than others I had found. I have taken a long time (bought it a year ago) to get this review in, and this backpack has held up MUCH better than others! The kids usually have backpacks torn up halfway through the school year. He is still using this one for yet another school year. Well worth the price! If I remember right, shipping was fast as well. He loves the color, and it has plenty of space.

It took awhile before we got this bag. We received it on time but I am just comparing it to the other bag we purchased at the same time. I am pleased with this bag. I like that it is roomy and very handsome. It looks very durable too because I like the quality of the material.

Oakley Men's Kitchen Sink

Oakley Mens Kitchen Sink BackpackInitially, I had buyers remorse after purchasing this bag due to it's hefty price. I considered canceling the order before it shipped and purchasing one of those Swiss laptop backpacks that I see all my fellow Metro Rail riders wear. What kept me from following thru was that nagging feeling that I was just going to fit in with the herd and regret not going with my gut reaction after falling in love with the Kitchen Sink once I saw it on Amazon.

Just received my package from Luggage Base (free shipping a plus) on Monday and everyone, including my neighbor who received it for me from the delivery guy was amazed. We all were impressed by the sheer presence the bag has alone. It definitely looks like a mans-mans kind of bag. I began transferring all of my messenger bag contents into the Kitchen Sink to see if it was more form over function.

Here is the break down of items: 2 text books and pad folio full of notes in the laptop section. A large Stanley thermos (1.1 qt), a Zojirushi Classic Bento Vacuum Lunch Jar in the main compartment. A 27oz L.L.Bean stainless steel water bottle in both side pockets. All of my pens, markers, high liters and correction tape went in the front pocket. My Gerber multi tool slid in perfectly into one of the rigid pockets inside as well as my portable digital storage devices. The hard undershell top case holds my shades, of course, as well as my ear plugs for my iPhone. I need to mention that every thing I stuffed into the bag still left me room for more. I'm considering using the wet pocket that zippers open from the bottom for more water bottles since I try to stay hydrated enough to pee clear (sorry if TMI).

Now to test out how comfortable it is to lug all this on my commute to/from work. Let me first mention that I decided to remove the padded strap that goes around the waist. Didn't feel comfortable having that thing dangling and the buckle clanging around. The bag already draws enough attention. It easily comes off by the Velcro attachment point behind the sleeve (you'll see). Now on to the function part: I take a rapid commuter bus with small aisles between the rows of seats. Somehow I didn't need to take the pack off to walk down the aisle with both straps around my shoulders. I take this bus to the Metro station and ride up one stop where I transfer to another line and ride that to the end of the line. The verdict: I love this bag!!! I barely feel the load because of the suspension system in the chest and shoulder strap combo. I wonder how much better it would've been with the waist strap... I also love the attention the bag gets even from other Oakley bag owners (Not Kitchen Sink). I still haven't seen one yet on my commute during rush hour btw. My only gripe is that you have to unclasp the cool hook thingys that secure the top flap in order to access the main compartment. I only have to open it once when I get to work to unload my thermos and lunch container though since my pad folio and books are accessible through the side zipper. Other than that I see why the Kitchen Sink is all that and then some. Push 'Buy Now' and enjoy forever!

Pros:

I had been looking for a replacement bag to replace a High Sierra backpack I have owned and used almost every day for the past 7+ years. I read all the reviews on this bag and I am glad I went with it. It has a heavy gauge construction exterior and the zippers, snaps and buckles are of excellent quality, I should get many years of service from this backpack. It has a ton of room inside and lots of extra pockets to hold all your favorite gadgets including a padded laptop section. I have personally had over 50lbs. in the pack and it was still comfortable to carry. The straps are wide and padded for your comfort. There are several adjustable straps that allow you to tailor fit this bag to your body type. All I can say is "Awesome" glad I went with this.

Now the Cons:

A little bit pricey, but after you get it you will see why. Top notch materials and craftsmanship. This bag should easily outlast my last one.

The hard storage pocket in the top flap of the bag is a little heavier material and has a tendency to make the bag fall over when it is less than 1/3 full. What I did is make a wire cage frame inside the bag out of 1/8" steel rod (Purchased at Lowes for less than $10) that went from corner to corner and around the top flap on the inside of the bag and now it stand completely upright just like the picture shows, even when its completely empty. I think they should take my idea and incorporate it inside the bag. The cage didn't even add 1/2 lb. to the total weight and it in no way hindered the bags performance, in fact it looks like it belongs there. I was able to tuck it in the creases; it's almost invisible unless you really look for it.

All in all I love it!!!!!!!!

I carry a laptop, IPad, cables and books for work. Daily I bring a bag into a customer's facility, throw the bag in a car or an airplane compartment. This bag carries everything, and with room to spare. Tons of little pockets and compartments to store everything you need, from a portable HDD, a flashlight or some tools. The only thing it was missing was a ring to hang a quick release to store keys, which I quickly threaded on their. Problem solved!

The rear side entry for quick laptop removal make it worth it alone if you fly with a bag. I haven't taken advantage of the wet clothing bag feature, but I can imagine this would work just as described.

The hardened storage up top is great for your sunglasses so they don't get banged up. It stores so much I would actually caution you to try not to fill it, unless you have a very strong back.

Awesome product.

The looks:

The backpack has no rivals in tough design. I've read a few reviews saying it is not a comfortable backpack, but i've found it to be one of the better packs that I've owned/tried on at stores. The metal handle up top sounds like a great idea, but it's not, it's less then comfortable and kind of small (not for those with larger hands) if you plan to use that handle at all. I often used that handle on my Swiss (Wanger?) backpack to lift it before putting it on. Not a big deal as i killed that habit after a few days.

The straps are nicely shaped. If you are hiking a while, I found the straps to create a more comfortable fit (especially the top strap). If you're just walking from your car to work then straps would just be silly.

The large hard front pocket at the top is rather nice for my essentials i don't want crushed (sun glasses, portable hdd, etc).

Two side pockets are nice and zippers are easy to use with two hands, but with one hand you may just pull the backpack towards you instead of opening. That is actually a positive as i've had similar zippers get caught on stuff and open up the pocket without me knowing it. So the zippers don't get stuck, they are just a little tighter then say a normal zipper. I noticed another review complaining about the zipper being to tough. I guess if you want an easy open zipper, get a LLBean.

The middle front pocket is not easily accessible, you'll need to undo the metal clips on right and left to reach the zipper (unless you don't close it all the way). This pockets is a pretty good size and has several compartments mounted inside for you to put your cell, etc.

The front large compartment is 2 sections, laptop and other (book?). Great news is that the laptop section can be easily accessed without undoing the metal clips, unfolding the top pocket and then undoing the zipper. Oakley put a zipper on the side so you can easily slide your laptop/tablet in and out of the backpack (a great idea in my opinion as otherwise it would be too much trouble to undo everything every time i need to get my device for the day.

The bottom pocket is great for wet clothes. It is made of waterproof material and extends into the 'other' pocket next to the laptop pocket (if you needed that extra space). The entire bottom pocket is isolated from the 'other' pocket with waterproof lining, so no worries about your stuff getting dirty. The bottom container also has drainage holes which again comes in handy when you have wet stuff/shoes in the bag.

The bag is a little pricey at full price. Amazon had it for 169 when i was buying it and they had extra 20% off which i had trouble using until i contacted their customer support (total paid just under $133).

Headphone port the description mentions a headphone port, which i keep hoping will be an actual port to plug your headphones in... no such luck, the backpack has a slit on top of the hard pocket so you can slide your headphone wire through. A little concerned with how well that slit on top will do during rain. I think I may close that hole so that i don't have to worry about my stuff, placing your device into the backpack while hiking in my opinion is silly because you can't change the song, but that's another story.

Overall the pack is very sturdy and looks great.

Cons: A little pricey, but it's a rather nice pack so i think it's worth the money. It is the first backpack that has people asking about it and commenting on it. Not really the goal here, but it does look good.

The top handle is my biggest gripe as it is a small thin metal handle. Not comfortable by a long shot if you had to lift the pack, especially if it is already loaded. The thin metal puts a bit of uncomfortable pressure to the hand the previous (Swiss) pack did not and since the hold for the hand is small too, then it's even harder to grab if you normally use this.

Front pocket takes a few seconds to open up. So if you want quick access to that pocket, i suggest you look at other models. If the laptop pocket is enough for your quick access, then that is covered. That's all i needed, so i'm good.

None of the gripes above were enough for me to take a star as they don't really effect me, but they may be things for you to consider before buying.

This is the best backpack I have ever had. It really lives up to it's name. With my work I abuse backpacks going through at least one every few months. This one can handle any punishment it is thrown at it.

The name is different, but it is the same color as the parrot green backpack, which is good.

Dakine Mission Photo Pack

Dakine Mission Photo Pack, BlackI ordered this product to carry my SLR around Thailand. I wanted a small, inconspicuous bag that didn't look like a camera bag, with a waist strap. This was what other reviewers had touted this product for, so I was excited to receive it. Unfortunately it was still quite large, and due to its size still gave the impression of a camera bag. I had to return it immediately. Also, the straps were a little high up on my neck and I couldn't adjust them down enough to fit just right. I'm 5'6", with a standard female length torso and perhaps this would better fit a taller woman or a man. I'd recommend this product for the individual looking for a sturdy SLR bag, who wants to carry around several lenses at a time (I generally only take 1-2). I ended up converting a camelback of mine with some foam and fabric to do essentially the same thing without the extra cost, weight or size.

Everything fine, really good backpack and is the best for your camera set up. You can use the waterproof accesorie, and an aditional strap to mount your tripod.

Pecoware / Best Buddy Backpack with Removable Plush - Monster in Carrier

Pecoware / Best Buddy Backpack with Removable Plush - Monster in CarrierMy daughter started kindergarten this year and my 2 year old little boy was VERY jealous of the new backpack she got for school. I ordered him this so he could have a backpack of his own. He loves it! He loads it up with trucks and takes it with him everywhere! The quality of the backpack is fine we've owned it a few months and it handles being overloaded with metal toy trucks and tractors almost daily. The only problem is that even though this backpack is smaller than a standard-sized backpack (obviously designed with younger children in mind), the straps do not adjust tightly enough for the backpack to sit snugly against my little boy's back; it slides down and bounces off the back of his legs. He doesn't seem to mind, but I wish I could make it tighter.

MadPax Bubble Half Pack

Mad Pax The Bubble Half Pack 14 In Backpack Orange Crush OS -KidsWith three kids, I've bought my share of backpacks. We typically make them keep a bag throughout the school year, and most of the time, they're worn ragged by the end of school. We decided to spend a little more than we typically would, this year, and purchased the MadPax bubble half-pack. It's not only adorable, but very heavy duty, and well made. The zipper was real tight at first, but has loosened with daily use. It has really comfortable padding on the shoulder straps, as well as the body of the bag. (which should be a highlighted selling point on the website, of which it's not!) My kids bags get so heavy, so this is perfect! The stitching is perfect, and heavy. It's a bit stiff, but I think it helps the durability of it. As for the fun design, my daughter has received comments daily on how cool it is. Random kids walk up to her just to touch it. We've already picked out their MadPax for next year! Definitely worth the extra cost for a bag we will be able to use for years!

My daughter fell in love with this bag in a local boutique, and of course it was $20 more than Amazon! So, I looked it up, and got it here. It's roomy, with needed pockets, durable, and it slides to fit my 5-year-olds little body and shoulders. We used it for her airplane games, blankie, animals on two airplane trips, and it held up.

People stop her all the time to ask about this bag. Adults want it, kids want it. It's a really awesome bag. Worth the purchase.

SPIGEN SGP MacBook Pro Retina 15 inch Bag Waterproof Backpack (Fits any laptop up to 15") - Black

SPIGEN SGP MacBook Pro Retina 15 inch Bag Waterproof Backpack - BlackI have a lot of gadgets, there I admitted it, that is the first step to recovery right? I don't think there is a GA (Gadgets Anonymous) yet is there? Ok, after carrying my tablets and laptop in a backpack I got free at a conference for awhile, I started to notice a few things. My tablets were getting scratched up some, and the weight would shift a lot in my backpack making it hard on my back or just keeping the backpack in a good comfortable position on my back. This backpack changes all that. It has a lot of compartments for tablets, that are protected and organized. Two of the main compartments (Laptop and front tablet pouch) are lined with fur that is soft and sure to protect. There are compartments for your phone, or camera, chargers, stylus or pens, etc. It has three main access points or zipper points you can access. This really helps keep your items organized and protected. It should keep your gadgets cool, scratched proof, and did I mention it's a waterproof bag? Also, it looks stylish. I've had about 5 tablets and a laptop in this and the weight is balanced just right, I hardly notice the weight on my back and it does not shift on me. So I give this a thumbs up for anyone who has a lot of gadgets, travels, totes to class, etc. You could wear this on your bike or motorcycle if need be. Bottom line is you get what you pay for and $99 for this to protect gadgets you pay hundreds to thousands for is a worthy investment. What are you waiting for? Protect your stuff and your back!

The backpack looks like not fashionable.

But, it really can protect your computer and other stuff.

BTW, the price is acceptable.

It is better than other bags.

At last I'm going to write review of New Coated Backpack after 4 months use.

The very first impression was "Wow", nice backpack, cool shell and pockets for laptop and tablet.

It has nice, soft breathable back. But I haven't used it during Summer yet.

Later I start to use it and here where problems started for me. I put inside: MacBook Pro 15", charger, iPad, wallet. few pens, pack with insurance and discount cards (4-6) and lunch box. When I was going to pass to underground I opened small compartment to get wallet and couldn't close it with ease like when it's empty. Top shell was bending and sides also.

So on the fly it's really annoying to get something from backpack and then close it while keeping the handle (even without MacBook inside minus 2 kilo). Top of the shell bends, like there is no any plastic details which handle shape of backpack.

I have another backpack and it has really hard plastic that holds its shape.

I was disappointed with this case and I think I wouldn't buy it if I knew such cons.

I watched youtube videos and read other reviews which come later, they all has such feature… Maybe it's okay for other people which just pack it at home and go to work without taking anything out of the bag on the way.

Pluses: waterproof shell, a lot of pockets, good protection from scratching and maybe from drop, nice and easy to carry, easy to clean inside and outside.

So my proposal for Spigen: made a research with shell materials and discover some lightweight and strength plastic for top and sides of backpack.

Good luck!

Volcom Juniors Ditch Day Backpack

Volcom Juniors Ditch Day Backpack, Taupe, One SizeBought this for my laptop. Great color and size. Material is durable. I've gotten some great compliments on it which is always a plus. It can fit an inch or two more for binders or other items. The side pockets are handy for cellphones, pencils, spare change, etc. I opted for this instead of Herschel & Supply Co.'s 'Little America' which was completely out of my budget.

STM Jacket Laptop Sleeve, Large, Black/Green

STM Jacket Laptop Sleeve, Large, Black/GreenExactly what I was looking for. Slim and lightweight with plenty of protection form the elements. Like other reviews stated the bag does not hold alot of accesories but that is not what I was looking to do.

I have a 15.5" IBM Thinkpad. It fits easily with the cord and few other small gadgets. Was easy to carry through the airport mess.

I will point out if you are minimalist like myself, its great. If you want to pack books, magazines, misc goods, etc you will run out of space quickly.

My husband does argue the padding might not be enough, especially for a more expensive laptop.

JanSport Core Series Air Cisco Sling (Black)

JanSport Core Series Air Cisco Sling Bag, Black/Goose GreyThis backpack makes riding my bike a breeze. there are ample pockets and strong zippers. I love this pack and it is guaranteed for LIFE!!!!

My husband ordered this back pack based on the JanSport name but was uncertain if it would be right for him. Now, he can't rave about this item enough! Each time he places it on his shoulder, he exclaims on how well it was designed. It has zipper pockets for every item he carries. A special place for a water bottle, keys, wallet, cell phone, sun glasses and a large center area for books or gym gear. Well done JanSport!!

i was looking for a sling backpack and was not disappointed at all. It has a huge amount of space. It has one big open zipped pouch, then a smaller one with pencil/pen slots, move little compartments. it has like a hidden pouch on the back of it for who knows what, a very small compartment on the strap for what, and a water bottle holder

Every year by November I have at least one of my kids coming home from school with a backpack full of holes, tears, broken zippers, you name it. When I was shopping around for school supplies this year I noticed that all Jansport backpacks have a lifetime warranty, so I thought, ok, let's see what they can do. I bought both of my kids a Jansport backpack, including the sling pack for my middle schooler, and so far, so good, not one problem, they are holding up great and still look in as good of shape as they did on the first day of school! Very impressed Jansport, nice to see someone still is making a quality product! From now on, all our backpacks will be from your company!

I believe I've found the perfect bag. I have about a 45 minute commute one way on public transit each day. I carry a lot of stuff with me (that's another story). I have tried so many bag styles and have not been satisfied until now. This bag is so easy. All my stuff is so much more accessible. The real beauty of the bag is that I can wear it cross-body, the only bag I've ever found comfortable to wear that way, when I get on my bus I can slide the bag around to the front and have easy access to my IPad or a book. I don't have to struggle getting it on and off as I've tried to do with ordinary backpacks. Ordered another one in a different color!!

Lewis N. Clark TSA 3 Dial Combination Lock

Lewis N. Clark TSA 3 Dial Combination Lock, BlueGood for travel in the USA, but elsewhere they won't have a TSA key so it will be cut off. The red color helps find my bag among a lot of black roll-ons. The large numbers on the lock help me open it easily. The lockwork is smooth. and the hasp is deep enough to easily attach several items.

This lock is well made, strong, easy to read and open, and nice looking. Would definately recommend it.

The idiot TSA agents keep forgetting to close it properly and I've now lost both of them. Don't use these on your luggage unless you really have to.

Not sure where my last lock went, but this is a good replacement. It is easy to set and seems durable.

If you are older, these locks are hard to read the numbers. I have found others that were larger numbers and easy for old eyes to read. I think someone reviewed this lock as easy read....I didn't find it so but then I'm older than Methusla!

The North Face Big Shot

The North Face Big Shot Backpack - 1950cu in Fiery Red Plaid, One SizeI have only had the backpack for about a month, and it has proven very versatile. My primary use up to this point has been for school. I am an engineering major and often carry around a lot of textbooks. Not only does the Big Shot provide plenty of room. It also distributes the weight well. I have had four fairly large textbooks in the large compartment (about the capacity of what I could stuff in there), and I did not feel like the pack put an inordinate amount of weight on my shoulders. The laptop compartment is also padded very well, so I feel like my laptop is always safe.

I have also used the pack for a trip. It served as a day pack and as my general travel pack for the flight to my location. The pack works great. The to exterior pockets fit my Nalgene bottles well and secure them when I am moving about. Additionally, the pack was able to carry all of the necessities for a day of hiking.

The only downside that I have found is the lack of organization in the pockets. The main compartment has an organizer which is pretty helpful for school (pens, pencils, calculator, etc). However, the pockets are oddly sized for putting trail gear (mess kit, bug spray, extra socks, etc). The two front zippered pockets are helpful for these things, but they too lack the organization. They open up to two separate overlaying pockets that are almost as wide as the front of the bag.

Overall, I would recommend this bag to people looking for versatility. It serves really well as a school/work backpack. It is comfortable and fairly largely sized, so it also crosses over into a day pack / short weekend pack very easily. The great versatility and size are a huge plus.

Marware Sportfolio Sleeve 17" MacBook Pro Case

Marware Sportfolio Sleeve 17' MacBook Pro CaseI purchased this notebook cover to use on a 2009 17" MacBook Pro and it fits perfectly. The laptop easily fits in the case and closing the zipper pulls the case snug. The zipper is heavy duty and operates smoothly. The side pouch is a nice addition and will accommodate cables, a mouse, the Apple remote, etc. I'm quite pleased with its appearance, function and price. Good value.

After trying a few sleeves I found the perfect fit with this bag. Fits the MacBook pro like a glove and easily slides into my Belkin 17" messenger.

18 months on: This is not very well constructed. First zipper pull fell off after a few months, second one fell off after a few months more, the zipper protector started to get holes in it at around a year, and now one of the zippers is stuck, although not obviously on anything. Replaced it with what I probably should have bought in the first place, a Brain Cell from Tom Bihn.

Original comments: It's a sleeve. Not all that exciting. It looks decent enough without going crazy. The laptop has been nice and safe in it. Been on an airplane without taking the MacBook out of the sleeve through security a bunch of times, so that seems to work. I can be a little rough with the cases but there's not a single mark on it. And the fabric inside to protect the notebook from the zipper seems to work well. Also if I recall this sleeve was modestly priced, which is nice.
