This is a large case that does a very good job of protecting the largest laptop models. I have an HP 18.4" laptop. This is not a computer that will meet the needs of many people. There is no way around it: it is large and not terribly portable. Even a 17" is a bit on the large side. If you are concerned with weight and portability, I would recommend no larger than a 15" computer. My 18.4" laptop weighs around 9 pounds, so carrying it around is not unlike carrying around a 10 pound dumbbell. My personal reasons for getting such a large laptop are that I wanted something that I could carry about my apartment and rest on my lap to do e-mail during commercials while watching TV. I wanted the versatility that a laptop could bring, but I also wanted something that I could take out with me on rare occasions. But I also did not want to sacrifice anything in terms of the size of the keyboard or the display screen. And the 18.4 inch screen, with 1080 resolution, is a thing of beauty.
But a monster laptop means a big case. So I got the HP Roller Case. It could actually take a larger laptop if anyone were ever crazy enough to make one and someone else were crazy enough to buy one. The case actually makes more than a computer case or even a combo book bag. It can easily serve as an overnight bag. It is essentially the size of a small suitcase and can carry a large laptop, all its peripherals, books, toilet kit, and a couple of changes of clothes quite easily. It can convert to something like a backpack or you pull out a handle and pull it on rollers.
Personally, I would like a much smaller case, but frankly I can't see how that would be possible with a large laptop. There are more compact options if you have a 17 inch laptop, but not with an 18-20. Given how heavy my 18.4" laptop is, I'm grateful for the rollers. The space created to hold the laptop makes it quite secure and protects it from direct bumps from the bottom or side. If the case is packed with clothes for a day or two, it is especially protected, with the clothing providing additional padding. And like any good bag there are a host of smaller zipped pouches. I can't think of anything that I would like a good computer case to have that it doesn't already have.
In short, while this case may be the only game in town for very large laptops, the great news is that it more than admirably answers anyone's need. It is big, but that is because it is made for a huge laptop. If you want a smaller bag, you need to get a smaller laptop.
The case is perfect for my 18" laptop. It seems sturdy and rolls smoothly. It may also be used as a backpack. Since there's very little product info offered, the backpack straps were a pleasant surprise. I highly recommend this case.

Works good for what it is. I have an 18" laptop and travel several times a year. Good for short trips to be all in one. I have tried to do more with it than travel ei use as my 'briefcase' to work every day. For that use it could work better with a few more paper size compartments. Thumbs up for quality and versatility.

I have used this bag at least five days per week for over a year to carry around my HDX Dragon (20.1 inch screen) and I honestly can't recommend anything else for any large laptops. I had tried various other bas for it and it is the only one that works for the Dragon. The bag was originally designed for the Dragon (which, plus power adapter, weighs almost 15 pounds) so I have not had any balance issues with the bag standing on it's own. If you know how to balance a load and keep the heavier items in the bag towards the bottom, you eliminate balance issues. When I need to bring my other Dragon with me (I have two), this bag easily handles the almost 30 pound load with about an extra 5-7 pounds of other electronics.
There are tons of other bags that can handle laptops of 17 inches and smaller, but if you have anything close to the size and weight of the HDX Dragon, then you can't go wrong with this bag. If I need to replace this bag, I wouldn't hesitate to buy this bag again.

I don't know why I was surprised by how BIG this thing is. I guess I thought, "backpack how big can it be?" The answer is, it's quite enormous. I can barely imagine using it as a backpack. I'd look like a sherpa. It's as big as a suitcase. I was hoping I could use it as my "personal bag" when flying... you know, the one you get to bring on in addition to your carry-on. But I'm pretty sure it's too big for that. It IS the carry-on. It seems to have room for almost a week's worth of clothing.
That said, it's sleek and well-designed, with thoughtful pockets. I like the T-shaped handle, and I like the silvery front. The backpack stuff... I have yet to try that part. I was going to try bicycling to work with my laptop and gear in this, and I may yet do so, but it's so... big.

Someone really thought of everything with this backpack. The quality is in the details. The canvas-type fabric is thick and the color is a rich, deep dye. Heavy zippers with rubber tabs for ease of opening are perfect for small hands to open this backpack by themselves. Toddlers are known for destruction and I can honestly say this backpack will stand up well. The base has double-stitching as does the water bottle holder and along the zippered edges. All along the edge of the backpack are stamped jousters! I didn't notice this in the provide photograph. It really connects the design on the front of the backpack together. The front zipper flap opens to a nicely organized set of pockets for pencils, money, notes, etc. There is a large, white label to mark your child's name, address and phone number. Finally, soft shoulder pads help a child want to carry it themselves. The size of the backpack is just right. It fits a full-sized folder, a lunch bag and room to stuff an extra shirt, pull ups and pants. This will definitely last us through this school year and next school year. My goal is for this backpack to make it for 2.5 years. I'll keep you updated!
