Rothco Vintage Urban Pioneer Laptop Bag

Rothco Vintage Urban Pioneer Laptop BagI wanted a canvas briefcase for laptop and papers. The bag arrived on time and I was disappointed on receipt for the following reasons:

a) Bag had cotton fibers and a funny smell as if stored in damp conditions for long time moldy.

b) The padding for the laptop was nonexistent on one side. So only a thin canvas layer between the laptop and outside world.

c) The way the bag is made, the it hangs lopsided if carried by the handle. The weight of the papers and laptop in the bag in relation to the handle twists the briefcase to one side.

d) One can't carry the bag unless the hook is closed and the hook closing required a two handed exercise in frustration .

e) The zips are pretty low quality plastic and I am not sure they will stand the wear and tear of regular use.

f) The inside zippered compartment has extremely this cotton.

One review that I read about this bag mentioned "tons of pockets!" Unfortunately, that was the review that clenched it for me and I purchased the bag. Well, in my Laptop Bag World, 5 pockets does not cut it. The canvas is heavy and durable, the clasp somewhat strange. It seems sturdy and big enough, but with my usage, it could break within the year.

I would put this bag, realistically, at a $25.00 retail value.

I ordered this and then thought.."it looks like a mans messenger bag". So I received it and I LOVE IT....

It is just what I wanted...a cross body soft messenger bag that I could fit my iPad and things in...especially in the warmer weather...it's so comfortable to wear..

And it has leather around the bottom that will wear with age....

Great purchase...and a great price....

Yes..,its good for women.....PERFECT SIZE...

It can be for men...women or teens....

I really like the materials used (canvas and leather), and the appearance and feel of the bag is quite nice. My favorite features are the leather bottom and leather handle. However, the laptop pocket is only padded on the inside wall that divides it from the second full-size pocket. There is no padding in the outer wall of the bag where it would be most needed. There are only two zippered pockets: one small one on the outside that is just tall enough to hold pens/markers/pencils, and one medium-size pocket inside that I'm using for adapters, thumb drives, and the like. There are two deep, narrow pockets that are open at the top on the front of the bag, under the flap. I use those for larger items like the power adapter, that I don't worry will fall out.

It will suffice, but I wish it had more pockets that close.

I got this bag to lug around heavy college books. Works out great. Very druable. The clasp is sometimes a little bothersome...its not the easiest to close with one hand. Other than that...i really like this bag. Very happy with purchase.

20 Inch CUSCUS Single Daypack Strap Sling Backpack Navy

20 Inch CUSCUS Single Daypack Strap Sling Backpack NavyIt's good, but its NOT great. I can put lots of stuff in it and it won't hurt my back. If you like to run with a bag on your back, this bag is a definitely a buy.

I ordered this sling bag for a trip to Ireland. I found it to be very comfortable and it exceeded my expectations. I liked the roominess and the cinch snaps to easily pull and make it smaller or loosen for time you need a lot more room. It was used as my second carry on the plane. I kept it at my feet to keep a sweater, book, water, etc. to make the long flight more comfortable. The style was great to sling over my shoulder as I retrieved my larger bag from the overhead bin and exited the plane with great ease. The bag was great for my day trips walking though towns and hopping on public transports. I liked the zippers because of the two way design that helped secure items from falling out. The zippers also were hidden by flaps. One compartment was so very well hidden I felt safe to kept my money in that spot. Well as you can tell I love this bag and it is so well made I will have it for years. I am going to see if the makers have a smaller style for everyday use. Thanks for the thought put into the design of this bag.

Doesn't really work that well for use on your left shoulder. It does work if used upside down on left shoulder.

TETON Sports Tech The Executive Backpack (Black/Grey)

TETON Sports Tech The Executive BackpackI'm so enthused about this pack! I'm a licensed professional and a father, and 7 days a week I have need for backpack. My old Eddie Bauer one lasted about 7 years until a zipper failed, so it was time for a new one. Days of agonizing over the internet led me to purchase this one, about 50% off on Amazon.

Pros: Handsome, spacious, many specialty pockets, attachment points for caribiners, water bottle holders, solid cable lift handle. The zippers are large and easy to grab, and remarkably smooth; there is no stiffness or hesitation on the corners. The biggest pro is the comfort level while wearing. It has wide, padded straps that come perfectly across the shoulders (I'm a big guy so a smaller person might have a different fit). The padded foam back cooling system sounds kitschy but is wonderful. It works just right, and adds a stiffness to the back that no other backpack I've had has. With most backpacks, you have to instert a book or clipboard if you're carrying odd items to keep them from jamming your back, but this pack's construction means that whether you're carrying pillows or bricks your back will always have the same padded comfort.

Cons: Er...the only thing I can think of, and it's a stretch, is that the overall pack design (size, number of metallic zippers and other components, padded materials) means that the pack is heavier than a standard generic pack of the same size. It's only a matter of ounces, but a small-framed or fragile person might notice it.

Enjoy!

Everyone needs a good backpack. Whether you're a college student, an business exec, or a frequent traveler, a high quality backpack is a must-have to carry your necessities on your journey. TETON Sports carries a few backpack designs for your specific need. I travel every couple months to visit my mom for a few days at a time or more. Often times we stay in a local hotel and spend the day at my mom's house the entire day. Well, I finally figured out that I needed something to carry an extra change of clothes for Buddy, snacks, a water bottle, my laptop and other fun things for the day. I've finally found the carry-it-all backpack that I've been looking for! This is the ultimate in bookbag-style backpacks with all the bells and whistles you should expect from TETON Sports. Made from 1200D polyester material, with reinforced stitching and heavy duty zippers, this backpack will travel with you for years. It has a sleek style and the ultra molded back padding that is uber comfortable. The mesh at the bottom and slightly up the sides, along with the molded padding against your back allow for optimum airflow and comfort too.

Peeling through each compartment of this backpack from the front pocket to the back, first we see a square carabiner clip, perfect for attaching keys, sunscreen, chapstick or keychains. I like to attach my keys to it when I'm out of town at my mom's house. Open that first compartment and you have a generous amount of pockets, including space for two writing instruments and your cell phone too. My iPhone fits perfectly and stays securely inside with the velcro strap that folds over it. The next zippered compartment is unexpectedly deep and reaches to the very bottom of the backpack. This would be great for small accessories. And then we have the big kahuna. The humongous zippered compartment would fit a lot of books, binders, notebooks and all sorts of paper-size documents from school or work. It's a very generous size! I also love how far down it zips on each side. If you're anything like me, I tend to loose stuff in backpacks and a good cleaning is in order quite often. Because this compartment zips down so far, it is so easy to pack and unpack it's contents as needed. Also in this huge compartment is a pocket large enough for a thin folder, and an iPod/MP3 media port and pocket making it easy to stay connected to your electronics while keeping them in your backpack. You can also see the large, heavy duty carry handle for easy carrying and pulling out from an overhead bin if used as a carry on too.

The last zippered compartment is for your laptop up to 17" and will fit a few slim accessories in front of the padded laptop pocket too. I'm paranoid about keeping my laptop safe and this compartment eases my mind. Because the molded back padding is at least an inch thick, your laptop is pretty safe. Not only that, but there are no unpadded crevasses at the bottom of the backpack that your laptop can shimmy into, leaving it unprotected. I had that problem with my last backpack, so I had to stash an old t-shirt at the bottom to protect my laptop! This backpack, however, has an amazing amount of more than ample padding to store your laptop safely.

There are two side pockets on each side, and also built-in side compression straps to make a smaller load feel more secure. I like this feature for the added security in knowing a really full load isn't going to rip the seams and come out! Of course this is a very high quality backpack we're talking about here, but here I can buy peace of mind and not worry one bit. There is also a pocket on each side that will fit my 17oz stainless steel water bottle and keep it nice and snug.

There is just one thing that I have as feedback about this backpack. The area on the right strap to place your phone is FAR too small for most phones. My iPhone would surely slip out and face a dreaded fall to certain death. I don't even want to think about that! The strap is just not wide enough to accommodate a regular smart phone (or most phones for that matter). So, I just don't use it and it really isn't a problem. Besides, there is another spot that fits my phone perfectly in the front zippered compartment as I mentioned. Overall, this backpack is amazing. Absolutely worth investing in if you need a backpack everyday. It's comfortable, extremely well made, and will last you a very long time.

I use this backpack for graduate school and I absolutely love it. I got one for my friend too (she is also a university student) and she loves hers as well. The center compartment is huge and easily fits my lunch bag, jacket, gloves, ear muffs, whatever. The back compartment holds my laptop in the sleeve and the padding on the back of the backpack is really rigid and seem strong so I never worry about my computer getting damaged, even the one time my son thought this backpack was his and threw it over his shoulder into the back of the car with my computer in it. Yikes!

Oh, by the way, my 9th grade son has one of these too and he likes it a lot, although admittedly his looks a little more beat up than mine since he drags it to school, in and out of his locker and the car and to basketball practice at the gym and generally beats it up. But there are no holes and all the zippers still work great so given that abuse, I think a few scuff marks are no big deal.

I love the side pockets. I can hold 1 or 2 water bottles in the mesh pockets and still stick my smartphone in the lower zip, along with glasses cleaner and rag, gum, lipstick, sudafed, more lip stick--well, you get the idea. I always take my computer, a folder, a paper notebook, a lunch bag, a jacket, a water bottle, my thumb drive, my phone, my wallet, my power cord, mouse, and a bunch of random little items. Sometimes I also stuff in 3 or 4 textbooks, depending on the day.

Everything fits and even when the bag is very heavy it is comfortable to wear. The shock absorber thingy on the shoulder actually does seem to make a difference and the back panel doesn't get real hot even when it's warm outside. The front organizer is nice because not only does it have all the little pockets for pens and cards and cords and such, but it also provides quite a bit of room in front of those items. I usually put my mouse there and sometimes even my computer power cord if I want to get it out of the way in the main pockets (like when I want to sneakily eat my lunch in class and so I don't take the bag out, I just reach in and grab food).

The "phone" pouch on the shoulder strap is a bit small but since I put my phone in the side zip pocket, that doesn't particularly bother me. This bag feels sturdy and roomy. I guess if you didn't need quite this much space, it might be overkill, but me, my son, and my friend do seem to use it's capacity fully, for what that's worth. I haven't used the media pocket and headphone ports but they would hold my iPod if I put it there. I just don't take it with me to school very often. I haven't used the front metal clip thing but I imagine you could hang an umbrella on it. I haven't used this backpack in heavy rain so I don't know how waterproof it is, but it seems fine for short stints on damp pavement and when I spilled water on it once, the water beaded and brushed right off.

All in all, I am amazed how good of quality this bag is for the money. I guess you could pay double or triple the price and get something higher end, but this already seems plenty high-end to me. It's certainly the best computer or school backpack I've ever owned.

My wife gave me this backpack as an early Father's Day gift. I walk all over in the city and I love this pack because even filled to the brim with my laptop (great padded laptop pocket), documents, and other items the padded shoulder straps make the backpack feel weightless. Just looking at this pack I can tell that their other gear is bullet proof, I have a cot from them too and I love it... it makes camping enjoyable. I just wish they would get their tents out already. I know that for the price I am getting some sweet durable gear. THANKS for a good backpack!

I have a couple other Teton backpacks all ready and I needed one for work, so I went with the Executive. The quality on these backpacks really is great. Also, tons of pockets, places to put stuff, etc. This one has a spot for your laptop, lunch, hole for water bladder, side pouches for travel mug, etc. The front pouch is great to keep your mini first aid kit and elastic spots to hold small tools, like screwdriver, multi-tool, flashlight, etc. Great product!

Case Logic VNR-217 Executive Rolling 17-Inch Laptop Case (Black)

Case Logic VNR-217 Executive Rolling 17-Inch Laptop CaseI was looking for a rolling case that would fit in the overhead on small regional jets.

This one does. Plus Case Logic Warranty is GREAT. See below.

Pockets could be better organized (the only thing not giving it 5 stars).

I works well with my carry-on luggage. I am able to hook it to my luggage and roll both.

It is stable, does not tip.

Update after 6 months of usage.

Fabric on bottom of case is wearing away from rolling thru airports... I put some black gaffer tape on it.

Wheels and handle are holding up well.

Fits on all of regional jet overheads.. Some need a good shove(Delta), but it does fit.

Update... 11 months in...

Zipper on the middle compartment has failed.. Wheels and handle in good shape..

Called the vendor, within 5 minutes I had a form in my inbox for a claim. Within 5 days I had a replacement bag.

All at no charge. Pretty easy, just emailed them the form with 2 photo's. 1 to show what failed, 1 to show the front of bag with logo.

For the money, you can't do better.

The design of this case is awesome. So many great compartments, smartly organized, useful. The problem with it is the stupid handle! I ordered one for my father-in-law. He loved it. The handle wouldn't full extend. So he exchanged it, and got one with a working handle. My mother-in-law loved the design, so she ordered one, then had the same handle problem. It's very frustrating. She sent it back and is looking for a different case just to avoid the handle issue, even though she really likes it. Now I want to find a rolling case and even though I do really like the design of this one, I hesitate to buy it, or any other by Case Logic. Please, fix it!

I look for quite some time for a laptop case. Couldn't decide if I wanted just a case or one that will hold other things. Decided that I had so many other gadgets that I would just get the one on rollers and I could just put everything in there. There is enough room to hold everything, plus the extra compartment that will hold overnight clothes if I choose.

I am so glad that I chose this one.

The price was very reasonable also.

Lewis N. Clark Nightlight Travel Clock

Lewis N. Clark Nightlight Travel ClockIt's tough to write a review about a clock. It tells time and it woke me up. How's that? Not enough?

OK, it is smaller than the picture makes it seem. I thought it would be bigger. This not a bad thing, small is always good when traveling. Closed, it is the size of a cigarette pack. It has a sensor to turn the backlight on only when the room is dark, and a switch to keep the light off in your suitcase.

Lastly, it woke me up. I sleep soundly, very soundly. I'm the guy that sleeps through a flight and landing when traveling. It takes a lot to wake me up. The sound isn't that loud, but it is annoying enough and at just the right pitch to wake me up....or at least hit the snooze button. Oh yeah, it has one of those too, a snooze button.

Ron

So many of the travel alarms I've tried over the past few years have been difficult to figure out how to set and use, with directions that might as well be...well, Chinese....This one's easy, even without looking at the instructions, which BTW, are also easy to understand. It's small, but the face is lit well enough to be seen in the dark, without being so bright as to keep me awake. Plus, the nightlight can be brightened for a moment with one push of a button that's easy to locate in the dark, once you know where it is. There's even a hint right on the clock (as opposed to being found only in the instruction booklet) on how to save battery power when traveling. I hope this little clock lasts forever (ha!) because it's a real gem.

Buy Lewis N. Clark Nightlight Travel Clock Now

From the description this clock seemed to be exactly what I was looking for something easy to use with convenience features such as a lit dial. Sorry to say I was very disappointed with the actual product.

There are some good points. It uses one AA battery, so it's easy to find a replacement should the battery die when you're traveling. The auto night light works well, and provides a soft illumination for the clock face enough to see the time, but not distracting. The alarm is a gradual style, which starts soft and gets progressively louder. The case folds up so it's compact to store while traveling.

All these good points are rendered moot, however, when it comes to actually using the clock. All the buttons are very small and located on the back (except for the snooze button). The markings are black on black, so it's very tough to figure out what to turn/push even in bright light, and impossible in dim light. The alarm on/off is a very small sliding switch again, tough to deal with in daylight, and close to impossible to work with when it's dark and you've just woken up. The alarm set knob only turns in one direction and, like the clock setting knob, is tiny and hard to turn.

The biggest problem is the build quality. The battery cover is very loosely attached and is destined to fall off. I've already had to put a piece of tape on it to keep it covered. This is not a product that will stand up to the type of abuse a travel alarm tends to get.

Not worth the price no better than clocks that are half the price.

This is a great little clock! The illuminated display has 2 brightness levels, when the sensor switch is turned on, and darkness is detected, the face illuminates at a level that is comfortable for sleeping. When the light button is pressed the display brightens to a higher illumination. I would recommend this clock.

Update:

After going on 2 trips with this clock, it has stopped keeping time. Amazon is rushing me out a replacement, and I am going to give this clock another shot because I really like the size and readability at night.

Want Lewis N. Clark Nightlight Travel Clock Discount?

Great little alarm clock, and I like the feature that lets you turn the power off to save the batteries when not in use. Compact and reliable in my experience.

The only little thing I wish was different, is that to get the dial to glow, you have to press a button. Wish it was glowing in the dark all the time.

Lowepro SlingShot 350 AW -Black

Lowepro SlingShot 350 AW -BlackLike the other lowepro slingshots, it is well padded and sturdy. What it does not mention is that it is HUGE. Granted it needs to be pretty large to haul all your equipment and a laptop, it is just so big...like carrying another torso around on your back. I am 5'4" and it just overwhelms me, but will work okay if you are much taller. I use it for carrying my wedding photography equipment and it can be VERY heavy fully loaded. Some nice features:

1. There are two additional straps that hold it on, one around the waist (or low hips if you are short like me), and one that fastens the main strap to the backpack, so it can't swing around if you are running. It sounds confusing, but it works.

2. LOTS of storage, and a little cloth that is sewn into the main section for cleaning your display.

3. The weatherproof hood that pulls out of the bottom is AMAZING. Gives so much peace of mind that your equipment won't be ruined by rain. you can still access the main compartment from the side with the cover on.

4. There is a good amount of padding on the strap and the part that clips around the waist, so it is not unbearable to carry when it is very heavy.

5. The two dark grey panels that you see in the picture are very sturdy loops that you can clip things to if there is no room in your bag

I can fit the following equipment in my bag:

Canon digital rebel body

70-200mm lens

50mm lens

17-40mm lens

laptop

mouse

portable hard drive

Canon Speedlite 580EX II Flash

Bescor VLK-5AC, VL205AC Video Light & battery (this adds considerable weight)

cards

extra batteries (camera and flash)

My Fong Reporter diffuser does NOT fit, but that is not the bags fault; it is a big diffuser.

At first I considered returning it because it was so big and made me look like a dope, but it really gets the job done when you have a lot to carry. Overall, a very nice bag, well made and neat features.

First off I am a big guy around the middle 44"the built in waist strap fit around me while I was wearing a sport coat That endeared me to this bagThe manufacturer wasn't cheap with the materials! I upgraded my bag to this for a trip to India. Crammed with my stuff it wouldn't fit under my seat on the trip over. On the way back with less non essentials I could get it under. I carried a SLR and a wide to mid, and mid to tele zoom, flash, battery grip, filters, and memory cards in it, with room to spare. All very well protected. In India at security check points ( a month after their 26/11) at tourist sites I had it off my shoulder well before I approached. I had opened the side door, and had one hand on the bag, the other on my camera, pulling it in and out,and kept repeating "Camera Bag, Camera Bag". That did the trick. At most tourist sites back packs aren't allowed, so at my first stop I had to flay it open to prove it was. That is something I hadn't taken into account.

The ability to hold a laptop cushions the back, but does make it more rigid. I could have easily put a few more lenses in the bagbut in the end I'm glad I didn't (so I could travel lighter). I'm looking forward to using the bag on hikes now.

Buy Lowepro SlingShot 350 AW -Black Now

This bag is perfect for anyone who gets on airplanes, goes on fullday excursions, carries a computer & camera with them to work everyday, or likes to boulder on the same trips they photograph on. First off, the computer slot is SMOOTH for a 13" Macbook. If you have an applesac, it's a little tight, but it's still easy to get it in and out. Beware because on the Lowepro description it says it fits MOST 15" computers. That just means be smart about it, try it out before you get it and realize it doesn't fit your needs.

The main compartment is great. I carry a 50mm f/1.8, a 28-200mm, a wideangle, a charger, stuff to clean my Macbook screen, and still have room to spare. I like to leave my 50mm lens on so i readjusted the velcro dividers so that my camera (Canon 5D Mark 2) "sits" on the bottom rather than in the middle. It's got a really nice micro-fiber cloth to clean your LCD and a pocket with slots for 4 memory card cases.

Don't let the front pocket fool you, I've got PLENTY of stuff in there, I keep my camera manual, my pocket journal, pens, sharpies, business cards & my backup Point & Shoot.

The top pocket is great because I can put my climbing shoes & a medium sized chalkbag in it when I'm going out for a bouldering day. When I'm using it for work though, I keep my MAC charger, external harddrive, monitor convertor cable, AV cable & my USB transfer cable with plenty of extra room if I wanted to pack my backup body (Canon D30) & iPod...Neil Young albums...you name it, it's probably made it's way into that pocket.

The sling design is perfect and the support strap makes it even better. It's great that you can just whip it around and take your camera out, or if it's set up right, change lenses without having to unzip the whole pocket and just use the silent zipper & zip stop buckles.

I could have done without the waist straps...or at least a better way to store them when I'm on short runs, but I'm sure they'll come in handy on REALLY long days.

Of course you can't forget the Lowepro weathercover. That thing has pulled me out in plenty of pinches in all the time I've used Lowepro.

If you can't handle the sheer power of this pack, downgrade to the 300 or 200.

This pack won't help you take better pictures, but it will sure keep you from messing up all those sweet goodies you got stored away in it.

Although I'm older, I just recently began involvement in my photo hobby. I travel internationally on business. I replaced my briefcase with the Low Pro 350 in order to bring my lap top and a few accessories on-board. The ease to get th to camera, built-in security from little hands and quality of the bag make this the best option for my needs. I did a little informal research at the beach with the surf photogrophers before buying the Low Pro. All sopke highly of the bag, several had them and I am now preparing for another trip and trying to decide which 3 lenses I'lltote along. The seller could not have been more helpful, communicative and responsive. I ended up buying a very expensive mono-pod that doubles for a walking stick.

After much research I found this product to be useful since i had a requirement of carrying my HP 15.4" laptop with my gear. One reason I choose this product was you don't have take it from shoulder for changing the lens, just slide it over and u can open the camera compt with ease. I wanted to see how this product looks before i purchase this online, but I couldn't find it anywhere in the local stores. I had no choice, bcoz of my immediate trip to Miami, FL. After opening the package, i immediately felt that the bag was big (width wise). The first thing I tried was laptop compartment. First of all it was very thin. I wasn't surprised when it didn't fit my HP Pavillion Dv6000t (15.4") laptop that easily. I had to push it inside. And taking out wasn't that easy either.

Miami trip was a good chance to test the bag.

Their weather resistant cover at the bottom of the bag is really good and works well. But for me laptop compartment was more important. And their one side strap made my shoulder hurt throughout my trip (something people should think of before buying it).

Overall I wasn't satisfied much with the product !

Now there are 3 compartments: front compartment is a zipper down which is large enough for keys, cell phones, wallets, etc. Second pouch is decently sized with an organizer inside which stores pens, pencils and the like. Third compartment is large and can hold your books along with a 15" laptop compartment that's padded.

Pros:

Water resistant

Has a U-lock & helmet pocket

Awesome

Cons:

There is only one side pocket! Why do this?? This is why we should be able to customize our bags!

Smaller then it looks but is that really a con?

Zipper down This should be a zipper up to open, not down. I worry that as time goes on, the zipper will ride on down and open on it's own.

U-lock side pocket doesn't have a strap to secure the lock. (Yes it will hold your U-lock the entire ride, but sometimes you're in a rush and the U-lock flies right out of the pocket as you're putting on your Track II)

All in all, I'm happy with the bag and I would recommend it to those who commute by bicycle.

I bought this backpack for travel because its large capacity and lightweight design.

The main problem with this bags is that it's not conformable to wear. When I packed it fully (1 Macbook air, cloths and documents) it was torturing my shoulder and my back. It's ok for 3-4kg (6-8 lbs) but anything more is a pain. If you want to use it for college and fill it up with books and a laptop, it won't work.

this bag is really strong, and yet still very very light. it is spacious enough for my 15" laptop and has a nice back pouch which can extend to fit a helmet or pretty much anything. it is really convenient because it allows me to bring my clothes and books together when i go to class, so i can work out afterwards and not have to worry about putting sweaty clothes in with my books. very sturdy construction, overall great bag, definitely worth it

This product feels flimsy and like it is not going to hold up for very long. I have had laptop backpacks that cost less that seem more sturdy. I will go back to Swiss Gear for my next backpack.

Knomo Kobe Messenger Bag

Knomo Brompton 54-105 Cross Body,Tabac,One SizeI recently purchased this bag and was very pleased with the quality, styling and price. I did a lot of online research to replace a TUMI bag I had used for years at work. After getting tired of finding the same bland and boring black nylon messenger bag, I stumbled across Knomo in a magazine article. The quality is very good with detailed/contrasting stitching, fine leather exterior, padded orange interior with multiple size compartments for just about everything. The nickel ends to the shoulder straps are nicely finished and look very modern and durable. I am certain this bag will last me for years to come! The Amazon price is also a lot less than other sites I searched. If you are looking for a simple, modern and elegant bag I would definitely recommend the Kobe Messenger Bag by Knomo!

I purchased a very similar bag from Knomo and really liked it when I got it, BUT when the seam which holds the shoulder strap on one side split wide open, and I called and sent pictures to Knomo, they were completely unapologetic and unhelpful.

If you can afford to buy a new $300+ bag every 2 years, then this is the bag for you. Other interior pocket seams have also came apart, so this was not just a single bad stitch.

If you expect such a bag to last you for years of good use, you will be sorely disappointed.

I thought the bag was great when I got it a few weeks ago. I used it lightly everyday however a few days ago one of the so-called metal ends just broke in half. I am not joking.

I am very familar with metal and it will stretch or deform however this when looked at closer looks like some type of other material. I don't think plastic.

If it is metal then the end pieces supporting the shoulder strap are extremely brittle showing pour quality and cheaper manufacturing which should not be in a bag that costs anywhere near this amount.

I have uploaded a picture so can see it broken for yourself. A picture is worth a thousand words.

I am writing this because when I was doing research for a messenger bag, I couldn't find a lot much feedback from owners of Knomo bags. I encourage more people to write, I think they are make quality products.

I've been using the Kobe Messenger bag for the last couple of months and so far it's everything I was looking for.

It's the perfect size and made with amazing quality and detail. The leather is very soft and the cushiony interior holds my T400 laptop securely. Unlike the previous reviewer my interior is green and not orange.

I used to carry around a backpack and can carry almost everything that I used to. I am looking for a water bottle that will fit in this bag and it would complete everything I need when I go out.

Pros:

Light

Roomy

Strong

Cons:

Wish it was all leather exterior

I hope this review helps and if anyone has questions please feel free to ask.

I just received my bag today. I am a 30 + yr old Business owner that just finished my BS in Business Management. The bag was a treat from my wife to replace my school bag with a professional bag. So far the appearance and build are great quality. The bag feels fantastic and is able to hold everything I need. Laptop, notepad, cell phone, calculators, newspaper, etc... I will check back in a few weeks as a follow up on build and quality and durability.

I love that you can register the product through Knomo London with a serial number in case it is lost traveling.

Marmot Ledge 28 Backpack - 1725cu in

Marmot Ledge 28 Backpack - 1725cu in Amazon/Lime, One SizeI bought this to use for work and double as a day hike backpack. I carry a 5 inch ultrabook for work along with various electronics. Plenty of room. The first bag I received had a popped seam on the back of the pack but the replacement has been perfect. It also has plenty of pockets. The zippers are VERY heavy duty. The material appears it will hold up quite well. I have not used it for hiking as I plan on doing that later in the year.

The ledge packpack is aimed to those who need low weight without compromising on features and number of compartments. Basically the same practicality than the North Face and Weger I have but much lighter.

Jansport Meter Backpack Black

Jansport Meter Backpack BlackThis is a pretty standard cheapo backpack with the exception that it's huge. This could be a promising bag at twice the price if they'd have simply increased the nylon quality a bit, used better & bigger zippers, and added a sternum strap.

As it stands now it's useful for travel in the 2-3 day range.

I would give 3.5 stars if possible, it's no 4-star item but it's still useful at least.

Product is perfect. .. GREAT quality , good size, heavy duty as well as very sturdy. I have not seen one made this good in store for at least 20 years. Shoulder straps are nice and padded for those days the little one has extra heavy stuff to carry, the picture (s) are also nicely done. I would like to say I have something bad to say about this back pack but sorry I don't. ..I was extremely impressed when I received this item; now I just need to find three more of equal quality but for girls!

ful Unisex Adult Heartbreaker Backpack

ful Unisex Adult Heartbreaker BackpackI have had this bag for three years ,and tt is still holding up as if I bought it only a few month's ago!!

We purchased this backpack for our daughter (fifth grade). Another older daughter has used the same one in high school. It meets the younger one's needs nicely. Nice size. Plenty of space. The high schooler has beat up hers, filling it up and it is starting to tear. But I don't know a kid who is easy on a backpack. Overall this is a nice value for the money, no need to shell out way more for a high end brand like the North Face.

Good quality backback. Bought it for my 5th grader and wishing I had bought the bigger Tenneman. The Heartbreaker model won't fit all the books for middle school.

Want ful Unisex Adult Heartbreaker Backpack Discount?

Pretty good book pack, smaller size fits our 4th grader well with just the right amount of room. Live right down the street from LL Bean and have always been happy with their product but looking for a more hip less kiddie look and this was it.

Pack is comfortable and stays put when biking even though no sternum or waste belt. Construction is solid heavy nylon, lined, with oversized zippers etc.. Missing a lanyard style key clip / retainer that has always come in handy in other packs. Would also prefer padded or felt lined zippered phone pocket rather than pouch on strap.

All said solid 4 stars, really a good size, rectangular construction to fit books well and sits close to the body. Kid can stand up straight, doesn't look like it is turning him into a hunchback like his other school packs.

SwissGear SA1172 Dark Blue and Red Trim Messenger

SwissGear SA1172 Dark Blue and Red Trim MessengerI bought this messenger bag to carry my laptop and a lot of paperwork and textbooks. It holds an amazing amount of stuff and seems to be well made. I wish it had a bit more padding for the laptop, however, along with another small pocket on the side. There is a good-sized organizer pocket on the front, but the sleeves for the pen holders are too short to really hold the pens in. I'd also like a few more slots for pens. But overall, this is a very nice bag that even fully loaded is well balanced when I carry it with the shoulder strap. Well worth the price I paid.

I put my computer in it and it fits well. Easy to carry over the shoulder and bring my lab top everywhere I go.

I bought the bag for my laptop and textbooks and yes I read the other reviews be for hand. My laptop fit fine. The wish for more padding is repeated with me also. The bag is fine for one thing but not for both my laptop and text books. I now wish I have sent a little more money and got what I started to get in the frist place before the price on this one stopped me.

Osprey Momentum 34-Litre Commuter Pack

Osprey Momentum 34-Litre Commuter PackIve travelled internationally for my job for over a decade and I've come to expect a lot from the bags I use. In my early days, I had entire packs come apart flinging my stuff everywhere. I decided a long time ago that the bag you trust all of your priceless personal items and expensive gadgets to should not be a cheap piece of junk.

I've used Osprey packs for years, yet they have never had a day pack/computer pack that worked for me, mostly because of their ultralight design approach. The Momentum 34 hits a new high. It has a nice stiff back that protects your laptop and props the bag up on its own without losing comfort. It has great organization and really shouldn't be confined to the bike commute. The two pockets on the shoulder straps are amazing, however, the key zip attachment needs a quick clip and not a O-ring.

My only gripe is that every decent pack needs at least one dedicated bottle/thermos pocket. The momentum has two side pockets at the bottom that are actually very nice for keeping a power brick, cliff bars, etc... i.e. items too for the main compartment of the bag, but too small for the pen/key pocket. When you open the side pockets there is a little mesh lining that keep the items from falling out yet handy at the same time. It's really a great idea. The problem is that these two side pockets are not large enough to keep a bottle/thermos mug. They will fit a can of soda or a 12 oz water bottle, but that's it and not conveniently at all. The thing that saves the Momentum for me is the rear "dump" pocket. It is high and narrow with a bit of stretch to it so a 16-20oz bottle slides in very nicely. It's just wide enough that I can slide my thermos mug in there too. This pocket is dedicated for a U-lock so I'm not sure what Osprey was thinking by not having a water bottle pocket; however, whether by accident or intent, the dump pocket is perfect for people that need to keep liquids at hand!

Honestly, if you want a pack that is well thought through buy from a company that is primarily a pack company like Osprey. NOT The North Face, or many others. Marmot makes great jackets, but horrible packs.

I've had this pack (S/M) for about a month and have used it daily for bicycle commuting and once for a weekend air-travel trip. I'm really happy with it. Finally a backpack that is made to use when riding a bike, that has a bunch of pockets, and that holds enough for a day at work, to the gym, to the shower, and back. There are a few changes that would make this pack perfect, but overall it's been worth my money.

Features:

I love the rain fly. It is bright yellow and comes out and on in about 10 seconds, and even has an attachment spot for a blinky. The lid lock works perfectly to snap my helmet (or a neck pillow)on the outside of my bag. The shoulder straps can be tucked into the bag and zipped away, and there are handles for carrying from the top or side of the pack. I've removed the detachable waist belt, but would put it back on for longer rides with heavier/bigger loads. The pack expands with a zip-around zipper, giving me enough room to easily fit a pair of running shoes when the bag had been too full to fit either before. The compression straps keep the load from being floppy (and were a must-have after my last pack). The sternum strap is adjustable and comfortable but I find I actually have to use it, which wasn't always the case with other packs. It may have something to due with my poly/nylon winter jacket, but the straps are slippery and don't seem to stay on unless I have fasten the sternum strap. This might be a good thing too, but I've never had a problem with chafing from shoulder straps on a bike(upper body doesn't move that much on a bike). The back panel is comfortable and does a great job at keeping any bulky or pointy items from jabbing me. In the winter, my outer layer is windproof and I always appreciate the added warmth of a pack, so I really have no comment on ventilation it allows.

Storage:

It holds more than I thought it would, I've packed running shoes, skirt, shirt, lightweight sweater, heels, along with a 14" laptop and a couple magazines, and was able to zip it up with no problem.

I love the compartmentalization. This pack has enough organization that I can fit all of my essentials (first aid, u-lock, snack bars, patch kit, mini-pump, micro-fiber rag, resistance bands, toiletries, chamois towel, wallet, makeup, pens, watch, jewelry, flip flops, etc.) without putting any of them in the main compartments. This is important both because I want to be able to access this stuff quickly, and also because I'm packing and unpacking daily with a change of clothes (or two).

The shoulder strap pockets (phone on the left (note: on S/M, it is not big enough for an iPhone, don't know about M/L) and keys (with a retractable key ring) on the right) are great, and don't get in the way at all for me.

I have to preface the next piece by saying that this is the best pack I've had for commuting. Osprey makes great packs. Having one of their other backpacking packs, I was thrilled to see their entry into the bike commuter market. That said, here's my biggest complaint about the Metropolis: The positing of the auxillary pockets could be better for everyday commuting use. When my pack is only lightly loaded, since I have the extra pockets full, most of the load is at the top of the pack. Even when it shouldn't be an issue, I still see the pack when I'm looking over my shoulder. (I'm on my bike, so this is important.) Whatever I put into the auxiliary pockets reduces the amount I can put into the main compartment. With the exception of the marsupial pouch and the shoulder strap pockets, the smaller storage pockets all expand into the main compartment instead of expanding outside the bag. So, when I have the auxiliary pockets filled (which I usually do), it means the main compartment isn't an approximate rectangle. I have to squeeze stuff into the bottom of bag where there is space the top is full with contents from the top pocket. I should say almost-the-bottom of the bag either side of the bottom of the bag is full with contents from the side pocket. What makes packing it especially annoying is the fact that the panel access (better than top load!) only unzips the top half of the bag. Getting a pair of dress slacks in without bunching them up is possible, but challenging.

If you want to carry a water bottle on the pack neither my nalgene or stainless steel bottles fit in the side pockets (28 oz range), and when I put a small 12 oz water it, it kept wanting to slide out. All of these bottles fit in the marsupial pouch. But of course, then they aren't accessible without removing the pack. I miss my old pack's mesh pocket. It held a water bottle or whatever else I stuffed in there a bandana, some candy, a pair of gloves. It was really nice to have one-handed access to a pocket on the fly. The size zip pockets have a little mesh webbing, but the webbing is loose so you still need to zip to keep anything from falling out.

There is a second compartment behind the main compartment that holds flat things, like a laptop. It has (what looks like) a waterproof zipper, and inside it has both a fastened pocket for a laptop and another inch or two deep pocket. I bet I could fit two laptops in it! Anyway, it works laptops and papers/books. I love that the laptop pocket is positioned toward the middle of the bag (instead of against the back). It gives the laptop a little more protection. Also the rain fly is in a pocket on the bottom of the pack, also offering a little protective padding down there.

Air travel:

Stuffed to the gills, it fit in the overhead bin (sideways). I had to take the neck pillow out from under the elastic helmet clip (lid lock) and had to pull my winter jacket out of the marsupial pouch, but that probably goes without saying. The fact that I could zip away the shoulder straps meant that I didn't dangle them in another passengers face as I put my bag up. (Sorry for not doing that the first time!)

Summary:

So, overall a great pack. Holds a ton, has awesome bike commuting features, has great compartmentalization, and feels secure and comfortable. I wish the main compartment were easier to load and unload, and that I didn't see it when I looked over my shoulder, but I don't think there is a better bag out there. (Note: immediately after buying this bag, I noticed that Osprey came out with a new cycling pack. Haven't fully investigated, but it may have some improvements over this one.)

Buy Osprey Momentum 34-Litre Commuter Pack Now

This pack has all the bells and whistles you want in a pack. It has a pocket for everything located in the right place and you won't run out of room with it's capacity. My only gripe about this pack is the back panel. It's up against your back and doesn't allow any airflow between it, which means that your back will get sweaty quick. If the next iteration of this pack allowed some airflow or spaced padding to keep the back of the pack away from your back and allow airflow it would be a winner. I've returned the pack and will wait and see if Osprey will make that change. I bought both sizes when I considered purchasing the pack and at 5' 7.5" I decided to go with S/M. I felt the M/L was a little too big. Try both sizes if you can before deciding which size to purchase.

I had been looking for a really good backpack for our travelling and saw this one online; I read the reviews, explored Osprey's site, watched the youtube clips, then placed my order and then sat back nervously awaiting its arrival! Thanks to Amazon's seamless order/despatch system, I had the bag within ten days (to Australia; note, I had tried to track down this model in Australia at travel and luggage retailers, but to no avail).

This bag will be ideal for the long flights we Aussies do to get anywhere else in the world. All up there are five storage compartments (excluding the ingenious concealed pouch with the rain cover). For a stopover to Europe, via Singapore, for example, the traveller has space for computer (or ipad), swimming things (just love that swimming pool in Changi Airport that anyone can access for about $14), book, magazines, change of clothes, and even space for a duty-free item or two to give as gifts at the other side. you can also slip in the pyjamas you are given on the plane if lucky enough to go business class, as the bag expands to allow more room! Others have commented that there are no quickly accessible water bottle pouches. Well, there are two identical pouches on the bottom right and left hand side of the bag, and this is where I will place my two smallish 350mL water bottles. I actually like the fact the pockets are zippered here as I once lost a favourite water bottle on a flight. If you want quick access for a water bottle or hat, it is easy to place these things in the outside open U-lock pocket.

Much design effort has gone into the creation of the bag. For example, on the front straps there is a pocket either side, one designated for a mobile phone and the other for keys. So if someone rings you, you don't have to take off the backpack and ferret inside. Ditto with keys, when you arrive at the door of the Paris apartment you might be renting. Aso, the backpack straps conceal easily, so this can double as a small suitcase (and hence be checked into an airplane hold if you wish). It is simply a very clever, and substantial piece of travel equipment. I love the bike helmet hook too!!! No more dangling a helmet down the side of your body, or accidentally leaving it somewhere!

I am 5 foot 4 inches, or 164 cm and I bought the small/medium size pack. My husband is 6 foot and broad-shouldered and the bag fits either of us, with an easy adjustment of the straps. So I can see we'll be sharing this one quite often!

One small negative: all those features do add up in weight and the bag is over 1kg without anything inside. One is technically allowed 7kg luggage weight for cabin baggage, so pack carefully, or just pretend it is not heavy once filled up! Another small comment (not a negative), there are lots of straps so you do need to do your homework and read the accompanying instruction sheet (or look online on the Osprey site for the PDF) and find out what goes where and what does what. Altho not over-sized, unless you unzip the extension zips, this bag might be too big as a daypack when exploring a city while travelling away. Actually, it's right for two people so you can take turns to wear it, as we probably will, and we'll remember to pack a small slingbag inside for wallets, etc as one always need to leave backpacks at the check-in counter/cloakroom at museums and galleries.

It arrived two days ago, and I am packing it today (a Sunday) for a picnic at the beach. It needs some action!!! I would recommend it, and can't wait to use it regularly on holidays and weekends. I suspect we might end up ordering a second one for Husband.

Want Osprey Momentum 34-Litre Commuter Pack Discount?

I've been using the pack for about a year for my bike commute in Oregon, USA. The pack is an absolute life saver both for comfort and features.

The back of the pack is relatively stiff which may not sound like the most comfortable thing, but it keeps any stiff items in the bag from poking you (i.e. books laptop chargers, water bottles etc), provides a wide and balanced platform for your load, and allows for the natural contours in your back to act as channels to bring air between you and the pack keeping you cool and dry.

Speaking of dry, Oregon is a wet and rainy place and if you're commuting with a few hundred or a few thousand dollars worth of books, electronics, and other important papers staying dry is key. The fold away rain flap does a great job of this. It has its own pocket at the bottom of the bag and can fold out and cover the bag in a matter of 15-20 seconds (great if you get stuck in a flash downpour). The cover also has a bungee cinch that keeps it tight to the bag, keeping water out and keeping the cover from turning into a sail. I use the two small outer pockets to carry my rain pants and a light rain coat so I'm always prepared to do battle with nature.

Like every thing else on the bag, the straps are well thought out. The shoulder straps are well padded and help to balance the load. A nice feature of the shoulder straps is that they can be unclipped at the waste and tucked into the bag so if you ever want to check the pack you won't have to worry about the straps getting caught on something and damaged. There is also a chest strap and a waist belt to keep the bag secure on your body if you're trying to ride fast. A pair of straps at the top of the shoulder straps allow you to adjust how high the bag rides on your back and a pair of cinch straps on the cargo compartment let you compact the bag to fit what you're carrying.

Size wise I like the bag a lot. The 34L bag is big enough for several books, a computer, a sweater, and probably some lunch. There haven't been many times that I was unable to fit everything I needed for a work day into the bag and honestly the few times I have run into issues it was probably for the better. At a certain point putting too much stuff on your back and going on a bike ride is probably verging on dangerous.

Finally Osprey's customer service is amazing. The bag comes with a lifetime warranty and they will replace broken clips and zippers even if you're probably at fault. I broke (stepped on) one of the waist strap buckles, sent an email to customer support showing which one had broke and had a new one within a week. I like a company that knows that they have a quality product and is willing to stand behind it even if it does cost a bit more than the other products on the market. They stand behind the product, I stand with them. I can't imagine I'll need to replace it for quite some time, but when that time comes I will look to osprey again for another quality product.

Slappa Stovepipe 18-Inch Backpack for Laptop - Black/Red (SL-BP-STVP-1801)

Slappa Stovepipe 18-Inch Backpack for Laptop - Black/RedI was very disappointed when I received this bag:

-It is supposed to fit 18" laptops but my G73SW, which is labeled a 17 incher, only fits about three quarters into the laptop pocket.

-The construction seems amateurish, at best. There are lots of loose threads, parts of the red vinyl that are rubbing off and note that I have only owned this bag for a a month and half, and have used it very intermittently.

-The top flap design is impractical and does not feel safe to bring my laptop out in this bag when it is raining even lightly.

-The straps are severely uncomfortable to wear and difficult to put on.

-Weight distribution feels off. I do not see myself carrying this bag over an extended period of time or walking a long distance.

I regret this purchase.

CUSCUS Army 3 Day Assault Hiking Camping Military Backpack

CUSCUS Army 3 Day Assault Hiking Camping Military Backpack GreenThis pack is not bad for the price. I tested out the seams and zippers pretty well with the load i put in it on a resent trip to the Boundary Waters for 7 days. I used it for food only. The seams all held great but the zippers are another story. The zipper handle broke on one of the side pockets before we ever left for the trip. It was an easy fix though. I just used a piece of small para cord to make another handle. Later in the trip however, the top zipper broke completely and couldnt be repaired in the field. If it wasn't for the cheap zippers i would give this pack a 5 star rating.

First thing to note is that this pack is designed for young adults so it's slightly smaller than a standard adult sized 3 day pack. Customer Service for Cuscus confirmed this as well when I called to ask about the size before ordering. I am 5'11" and tipping the scales at around 200lbs. When I pre-packed this pack for a trip i'm going to take it turned out to be a perfect fit and comfort for me. My intent is to use it during a Camino de Santiago across Spain. It had no problems holding two pairs of slacks, four shirts, four pair of boxers and socks, Hoodie, rain slicker, towel, personal care kit, cameras (2), guides, and still had room to spare. There are plenty molle web ports around the front and sides of the pack for hanging or securing various items. A pair of verticle straps would comfortably secure a tightly rolled sleeping bag. As I use the pack a few times I will return to update this review in regards to how well the pack takes the normal wear and tear of use.

Update February 11th, 2013

I've been using the pack for day to day use to and from work, as well as wearing it on my daily 3-5 mile walks to break it in a bit. The junk I tote back and forth to work weighs out at around 20 pounds and I've not seen any significant wear or tear as of yet. Stitches have remained firm and secure, all the adjustment straps are still in one piece. It gets tossed around at work a bit going from nearby chairs to the floor, to being kicked under my desk, being used as a footrest, and of course in and out of my car quite a few times. All in all, I still consider it the perfect buy for me.

This is a good backpack for air travel as it still fits easily in the overhead compartments even when completely full. Good strong material, strong zippers, and plenty side pockets. Being 6'2" it feels like wearing a childs backpack, but it actually holds alot. I had 2 laptops, an xbox, 2 outfits, 1 pair of shoes, and toiletries in it no problem.

I travel for work a lot, but it's mostly 2 and 3 day trips, and using rolling suitcases always seems excessive.

I've used this bag 3 times in the last month, and it's been awesome. I like having my hands free, so this is perfect.

For the price, I'd say you can't beat it. Last time I traveled, I brought my laptop, 3 days worth of clothes, a change of shoes and all of my toiletries. I probably could've stretched it for another day or two, as well, if I packed lightly.

While I've only used it a few times, it seems to be holding up pretty well.

Also, I'm 5' and about 110 lbs, and the pack can become a bit bigger than me pretty quickly, if I'm not careful. I would consider myself a little more hearty than my size, but if you feel like you might not be able to handle it, I would recommend a smaller pack.
