We gave this to our daughter for Christmas. Becuase she has a 15.6" laptope we had to go with the 17" model. It's oversized by about 2". Interestingly it is a bit small for our 17" laptop.

Son had this bag less than 4 months before the zipper broke. The zipper has never opened or closed smoothly, but did not expect it to break so quickly. Cute bag, just wish the zipper was more durable.

Lowepro Vertex 200 AW Backpack
I bought this pack a couple days before my trip to Turkey. I had a 15" MacBookPro, Canon 30d, 17-55/2.8 attached, 70-200/4, 30 1.4, battery chargers/power adapters, Gorillapod SLR, filter cases, cleaning clothes and solution, etc. All the stuff photo enthusiasts take on long trips. Overall this pack performed fantastically.Pros: Despite the previous reviewers comments, I found the Vertex 200 to be very comfortable when it was completely adjusted. But to adjust it for maximum comfort I tightened all the straps very tight. Between the waist strap, shoulder straps and the chest strap, I thought it was about as comfortable as any other way for me to carry that much gear without being a roll-bag. I like that the zippers are water-proof even though I never had to test that feature. The top handle is sturdy and comfortable when the bag is off.
It's well padded and comes with many re-configureable velcro compartment walls for the interior. Shoulder straps are also very padded and comfortable when the waist and chest strap are fastened.
Cons: The laptop shouldn't be in the front flap. I'm not sure I understand the design decision of putting one of the heavier items in the whole pack on the front flap that requires lifting to get to the contents. Then when you want to fully open the pack, you have to make sure your laptop encased in the flap has a flat surface to rest upon. You certainly can't fling it open with reckless abandon.
I agree with the previous reviewer that the laptop placement also tends to make the bag tippy. Luckily my MBP doesn't weigh very much, but I can imagine if my wife's hp 15" laptop were in there it would be more of a problem. On top of that, it levers the weight of the computer further away from the body's center of gravity when being worn.
Conclusion:
The laptop placement and the somewhat useless expandable pockets on the side are the only things preventing me from giving this bag 5 stars. It is obviously very sturdy and protective. It performed great and I walked quite far with it without pain. A considerable feat for someone with bad knees like me.
If I were making the choice again I might look at the Kata backpack more closely as they decided to put the laptop closest to the body of the wearer. But I also preferred the subdued look of this bag.
After obsessing over camera packs I chose the Lowepro Vertex 200 and brought it to Boston for a 5 day photoshoot. It was loaded down with a Canon Rebel body, 17-40 lens, 50mm lens, small tripod, flash, 14 inch laptop and various accessories. Total weight 25.6 lbs (according to airport scale)
For reference, I'm an avid backpacker and have tried on and purchased many high-end packs before.
What I like: It's stylish and built like a tank. (but weighs as much as one) Feel confident your gear will be safe inside. There are dozens of pockets and it is very customizable. Sealed zippers are a nice touch, usually found only on high-end technical packs.
Complaints: The accessory pockets on the front and inside are not wide enough for the manuals. The outer side pockets are not good for much either, I normally stick a water bottle in there. The laptop sleeve is positioned at the front of the bag, which makes the pack very tippy. It would be more stable tucked next to your back.
My biggest complaint is the harness. Due to excessive flight delays at Boston Logan, I wore this pack for 3 or 4 hours walked a mile or two. By the end of the day, my shoulders and back were killing me. Lowe makes some excellent packs for backpackers, which is why I was so surprised at the crappy suspension. It just hangs on your back.
Maybe I'm spoiled by my Atmos 50 by Osprey Packs. I've packed 35 pounds and it feels great. At $229, I expect more.

I bought this pack just before a 3 week trip to Patagonia. It had no problem carrying all my photo gear and laptop for the trip. Overall it's a good pack, can use a lot of improvement in the comfort area.This pack, as all backpacks do, suffers from the "take off the pack, put it on the ground, get out your stuff" problem, but that's unavoidable with a backpack. On the other hand, the nice thing about the pack is that the quick access zipper pouches are very nice. All of your batteries, memory cards and filters are very accessible. This is about as good as it gets with a backpack.
The major drawback to this pack I found was that it's not comfortable to wear, particularly on longer hikes. Lowepro is known to make solid, comfortable packs but this is not one of them. A friend and I both had the pack and despite all the adjustment straps we couldn't get the load to distribute comfortably. In fact, in both of our cases, the shoulder straps buckled right where they met the backpack. The pack just didn't fit correctly.

I won't go in to too much of a review of the useful aspects of the 200 other than to say for my needs it's great. I love the organizational possibilities, the high level of protection and the weather proof zippers and rain cover. A lot of great attention to detail with this pack.What I want to focus on is being 6'4" tall and needing a pack that carries well on my back. I tried the Vertex 100 and with the shoulder straps fully extended the waistband still hit me above my naval, by several inches! All I needed was a pair of PeeWee Herman pants and I'm ready to go cover a golf tournament!
The added two inches in length of the 200 made all the difference. The 300 would probably be perfect for fit but the 200 is better for travel as a carry on piece and also to hold my current photo kit. The shoulder straps are well padded and comfortable as is the waist belt. There is a sternum strap to hold the should straps in place and when properly adjusted the pounds disappear as I carry it.
One other feature I really like is the tripod carrying possibilities. The best is down the middle in the back but you can also carry it on either side to maintain easier access to the main compartments but depending on your tripod this may make the load off balanced too much.
From a tall guy, I love this pack.

1. First of all, it must be clearly stated that photo backpack reviews are going to be highly subjective... similar to whether or not one brand of shoes fit for one person etc...2. With the above being said, I've tried many photo backpacks (Tamrac Expedition, ALL of the other Lowepro backpacks); the Vertex series is the best overall compromise of them all. And it is a compromise. There is no perfect photo backpack. Ultimately, it comes down to for what purpose one is going to need the backpack for, the amount of gear they need to carry etc... With that being said, most serious photographer will have several camera bags etc...
3. What I like about this backpack is:
a. It is well made, just like all of the Lowepro product (they are the overall best camera bag company)
b. The harness is the best of the bunch; absolutely no question about it. Furthermore, the harness system has all of the various straps to fine tune the fit, which is important, the more you carry.
c. The bag has enough of the little various pockets that a photographer will require.
d. The cpu slot; not essential to me but ok. I would agree with the other reviewers in that if a good quality cpu slot is important, having it out front may be a modest problem. But if you're going to use it to mainly carry your cpu during basic travel; it should be good enough. I'm assuming that most photographers who are going to be hiking through the woods aren't going to be lugging along a laptop...
e. The inside has enough dividers to do whatever you want to do with it. I use about 60% of it for my camera gear and 40% for my hiking gear (jacket, food etc...).
4. Cons? As most others have mentioned--> size--> ie bulk, yea--> it looks like a photo backpack because it is. ie it looks like you're walking around with a box on your back, but thankfully it doesn't feel like it. And since it's well made--> yea, there is some heft to it.
5. Tangent: my fantasy photo backpack would be to have a hybrid backpack, that actually works and fits like this pack. Tamrac and Lowepro do make such hybrid packs, but do not be fooled; it's not the best of both worlds, but rather failed attempt... Until that day happens when the perfect photo backpack comes along--> get the Vertex Series without hesitation.

Dakine 25-Litre Team Mission Pack
This is a very comfortable bag!I can fit my 15.6' laptop and my D-SLR camera in it with all the accessories for both!
I had few thoughts about this bag(which color to pick), I bought the Tanner Hall design
and it's very good looking one, Don't regret this pick at all!

I purchased the Everest Sporty Hydration Sling Bag for an upcoming trip to Disneyland. I wanted something lightweight, comfortable,sleek and minimalist and this big fits the bill perfectly. The hydration aspect of the bag was just an added bonus as days at Disneyland can be very long and hot. Keep in mind that the bag doesn't come with the bladder, but they can be found at most major retailers.The bag is minimal in size but has enough room for all the essentials of the day. The look of the bag is fairly masculine (which I like) and is clearly military inspired. The M.O.L.L.E. system on the bag makes it very adaptable as accessories can be added as you see fit. The shoulder strap is comfortable and breathable and has a side release buckle for easy removal. I did have an issue with some stitching coming undone from the shoulder strap portion that is meant to secure the hose for the bladder, but there are several other straps remaining to secure it. The design of the shoulder strap allows you to only wear the pack over one shoulder and across your chest (meaning you can't switch shoulders) which may be a problem during extended use as far as comfort is concerned.
Overall, I am very satisfied with this pack and will edit this post after putting it through its paces at the happiest place on earth and let you know how it held up.
**After only a couple of days of light use, I would change my opinion and advise you not to buy this. The poor quality of this bag became very apparent as much of the stitching came undone, especially on the shoulder strap. The majority of the straps which are designed to retain the tube from your hydration bladder, completely came undone as all of their stitching pulled out. This bag may suit your needs but I see it ending up in my next garage sale.**
DC Comics Men's Flash Backsack
The Flash is my favorite superhero and I'm leaving to a trip soon and I thought this would be cute to use as my carry on bag. I expected this to be bigger than it is. This size will accommodate my iPad mini (a standard iPad would fit in it too), stereo sized headphones, a book and that's about it. I haven't used it yet so I cannot comment on its durability, but it seems like it's solidly constructed. Again, I thought it would be bigger and it's not so I'm a little disappointed. Listing the dimensions in the product details would be helpful.
Although it is very cool-looking, it didn't live up to its potential.I loved the design, and I wore it around all the time. When I moved and didn't have a locker though, I was forced to carry around all my books in my Flash bag. Unfortunately, it ended up breaking on me. I ordered this for my friend's birthday and it arrived literally 2 days after ordering it. It looks great in person and is really cute. She loved it. Only downside is that it's not designed for everyday use at school because it doesn't support much weight for a long time as many other backpacks do. It's still a great backpack to go adventuring with!
Stephen Joseph Boys 2-7 Go Go Bag
This Stephen Joseph Boys 2-7 Go-Go Bag, Pirate, is super cute and durable. My problems are (1) it does not fit a standard binder and (2) the straps could use a little padding or could be wider for comfort. The real deal-breaker for me is the fact that a binder won't fit because the top of the bag is too narrow to zip around it. So my preschooler takes his stuff to school in a half-closed backpack, and his school binder is getting chewed up by the zipper. If they changed the size a bit, I would by another for next year. The straps...I mean you can always pad them after purchase. But the actual bag size...that's a deal breaker.

The fabric is easy to clean and the pockets do hold a lot. The only reason I didn't give that 5th star was because the silver loop on the top was not properly stitched on the top of bag. I just cut it off instead of sending it back.

Beware of this bag, it's quality on the outside but junk on the inside.
Cons: Shipping and packing for the bag it was awful. The bag was folded in half and literally stuffed into a priority envelope yes I said priority envelope, not box. Packing may not matter to some, but to others it may make a difference.
Even though the bag was, fortunately, received in good condition (I read another review that indicated otherwise), I would still recommend this backpack to others. Hopefully the seller will ship and pack the item in the correct size mailer/box for future purchases.

Batman Drawstring Bag / Backpack
This bag is great. As far as design goes. The fabric used, however, isn't so great. It's too thick and when the bag's closed, looks all lumpy. The worst part is the weak black fabric used to hold the drawstrings. After not even a week of use, it started to fray and come loose of the stitching holding it to the rest of the bag. I had to stop using it before it fell apart completely. It now sits, useless, and a waste of $30 in a corner of my room. ):I wouldn't suggest this product. Get something tougher.
Case Logic Security Friendly Laptop Backpack
This is my second Case Logic "security friendly" piece of luggage, and like the CLCS-116 over-the-shoulder messenger type bag, the CLBS-116 backpack has a lot of nice features but seems to be missing a lot of the every day features you expect with most laptop bags.Of the many laptop backpacks I've owned, the OGIO Metro Backpack and discontinued Samsonite Rafter are my top two favorite, so I use them as a baseline for comparison purposes. Compared to those two bags, this Case Logic is firmly planted on the "Spartan" side of the fence. It's very low on features, but what it does, it does well. Most of what I said in my Case Logic 16-Inch Full-Size Security Friendly Laptop Case (CLCS-116) can be repeated here for much of the pro's and con's carry through to this backpack model with a few changes.
Pros:
Non-laptop half of the bag has lots of good segmented and non-segmented compartments. Good for holding gadgets like Blackberries, phones, MP3 players, power cords, pens, books, etc...
Small semi-hidden "wallet" hole for hiding cash.
Zipper sliders are metal, not plastic (a big plus in my book). Zipper teeth are mostly plastic with the exception of the front zipper which is metal. All zippers on my bag pulled nice and smooth.
Holds my 15.4" laptop like a champ lots of padding, plenty of room.
Put my Inspiron 1720 17" laptop in, just to see if it'd fit. "Kind of" would be a good description the laptop fit, but only because I removed the battery (Dell laptops have gone to a configuration where the battery hangs off the back end). The 17" laptop is pushing at the seams of the compartment, so not a whole lot of padding left at the sides. Not bad for a backpack that advertises itself as a 16" laptop backpack.
Secondary "stuff" pocket is full sized, extending wide enough to hold a hefty 3-4" phonebook-sized item.
Relatively light for a backpack at 3lbs.
Nice "pass-through" feature which lets you thread the pull bar of rolling luggage through allowing for piggy-backing of the pack.
Cons:
No headphones hole thought that was odd for Case Logic.
Very little padding in non-laptop half of the case careful with your gadgets!
No side pockets, mostly because you have to open it up for the security screening.
Not a whole lot of extension allowance if your items don't fit, they won't fit. The stitch is stiff nylon so there's not a lot of give.
The straps are attached by way of two Z-stitches at the top and a double-stitch to an extension at the bottom if you overload your backpacks a lot like I do, these stitches probably won't last very long. However if you're just hauling a laptop, a book, and a few gadgets, this should last a lifetime.
Conclusion:
Since this backpack is a "Generation 1" of these security bags, I'm hoping that the future will bring more cost-effective and feature rich bags. The cost itself is probably prohibitive enough to bring this backpack out of the reach of most students, and honestly if the only benefit that you're getting is that you don't have to put the laptop in the scanning device, it's probably not enough for most people to purchase this backpack. However if you're the consultant type who takes semi-daily business trips, being able to fly through the security checkpoint with just your backpack and shoes removed is probably enough of an incentive to grab this bag. Plus the design is clean enough to look professional.
As someone who lugs around a decent sized widescreen laptop, this is exactly the kind of laptop you would like to have. The rear portion of the backpack contains a padded area for you to store your laptop. Padded as to not damage the computer and to not cause you any discomfort also the lining of this pocket is soft as to not scratch any of the surfaces of your laptop.
The bag features a zipper that basically allows you to split the backpack in half and lay it down flat for scanning through the x-ray machine at airports. This of course is nice since you aren't pulling out your laptop and tossing it in one of those dirty gray bins and getting it scratched, etc..
The front half of the bag contains three other pockets, a smaller one on the front, a slightly larger one behind that which contains smaller pockets for pens, business cards and other small items, then you have one larger pocket which has room for things like power adapters, Cd's, etc..
A couple of other nice features:
The bag is designed to hold it's shape and stand up right when set down. The shoulder straps are padded and curved, making them very easy and comfortable to use. And a nice little touch the adjustable straps that normally dangle after you adjust them, these straps have nifty little Velcro pieces that allow you to roll them up and keep them from getting dirty when you have the bag on the ground or getting caught on stuff as you walk around.
Suffice to say, the bag may not be the coolest looking backpack out there, but you can tell that a lot of thought was put into it design, the designers remembered the little things that annoy you about backpacks that you wished you could fix. Glad I have it!

I regularly travel by airplane and I'm a student, so I decided to try the Case Logic security friendly laptop backpack. According to Case Logic, this backpack will get a person through security checkpoints quickly while fully protecting the laptop and sensitive documents. When approaching an X-ray machine, just unzip and lay flat on the conveyer belt. At the other end, just lift the handle and go.On my most recent trip, I packed the bag with a 15.4" Dell Latitude D800, a couple school books, some papers, the usual laptop stuff, and some other junk; all together the bag weighed about 20 pounds. I also travel with a Tamrac Expedition 5 backpack containing a digital SLR, several lenses, filters and more resulting with a bag weighing about 20 pounds as well. Considering these two bags weigh the same, the camera bag with its waist strap and shoulder strap connector over the chest feels much lighter on the shoulders. The additional straps distribute the weight better, but would slow down the removal process. However Case Logic's luggage strap allows for carrying the backpack on your suitcase while strapped to the handle.
A lot of thought went into the construction and organizational properties of this laptop backpack Even though Case Logic indicates the plush laptop compartment will hold a 16" laptop, I was able to pack a 17" HP G70-246US comfortably without any zipper closure fuss; although the top corners could be identified. For screening purposes, nothing but the laptop should be stored in this section. The main storage area has a couple pockets to stash the cord and other accessories while allowing plenty of room for books and papers. The front compartment provides many pockets for organizing and includes a clip to hold a key ring. Plus a hidden passport storage compartment is placed between the two zippered halves.
The pre-screening security officer busily warned people to pull out their laptops, but I ignored him. I took the bag off my back, unzipped the two center zippers and laid the properly packed bag out flat on the conveyor belt. The bag passed inspection without any issues. On the other end, I grabbed the main handle and the bag went naturally back together for zipping even though I chose to do so later. Keep in mind, Case Logic warns "It is up to the discretion of the US Transportation Security Officer whether a laptop sleeve can pass without further screening." This by far was the easiest experience passing a laptop through security I can recall.

I travel frequently, but hate carrying my heavy laptop in a messenger bag, but don't like carrying a laptop-only bag. And then there's the "take it all out" routine at airport security which is awkward with any bag.This bag is the first one I've found that finally addresses all of those issues. It's reinforced to carry laptops (unlike the messenger bag). It has room to carry other items, so it can be my "personal-item" airline carry-on (unlike the laptop bag). And with its split zippered TSA-approved design, my laptop stayed in the bag after going through security four times so far (3 different airports).
The pack is also unobtrusive in urban life (doesn't scream "I'm carrying a computer!!" like a laptop case does), and has some hipster-chicness; at least I didn't feel too silly-looking carrying this in various cities. Loaded up, it is a bit bulky and I've bumped people when wearing it, but that goes with the territory of a backpack.
I was able to carry my computer, various laptop accessories, papers, a DSLR, an extra SLR lens, a bottle of water, and some random bits of food without the bag feeling over-full.
This backpack addresses most of my concerns with the similar briefcase Caselogic product Case Logic 16-Inch Full-Size Security Friendly Laptop Case (CLCS-116) (that one had limited capacity, was awkward to carry full, and had less useful compartments).
Quibbles: The strap buckles could be redesigned to not move as readily -I found with frequent use they often slipped to the longest position.
