High Sierra Classic Series 59301 Explorer 55 Internal Frame Pack

I bought this pack as a placeholder until I get enough money to buy a more expensive Osprey or Kelty. I'll be honest, I wasn't expecting much, but I was pleasantly surprised at the durability and comfort of this pack. Being a 55L, it is perfect for weekend excursions. Even with 35+ lbs of gear, this pack rode comfortably and stability was good too. The only complaint I have is it does squeak as you walk along. I noticed another reviewer mentioned this as well, and rest assured it is not just your pack. I don't think it is necessarily a manufacturing flaw--just annoying.

It does have one added bonus that even the more expensive packs sometimes lack. That is a built in rain-cover. There is a small velcro pocket on the underside of the pack that contains a drawstring rain-cover attached by strap and everything. If you get caught in a Summer thunderstorm, just pull the cover out of the pocket, pull it over the pack and tighten the drawstring and you're good to go. This came in useful for me since I got caught in a downpour my first day out.

Other than the squeak, this pack is great in durablity, great in stability, and great in comfort. Definitely worth the price. I would definitely recommend it.

I purchased the pack as a extended weekend pack for my 19 year old son. He is 6'0" and weighs 220 lbs. This pack is listed as a 55 Liter pack. It is. It is well made and I will keep it for my wife. When he took it out of the box he tried it on. I looked at the packing materials. It is listed as a slim fit. It is for women and kids. It has a max waist of 32". This is not in the description. I wanted a full sized internal frame pack for him. The brochure that came with the pack clearly shows it as slim fit and lists the proportions. The ad does not. It would be great for youth and women, but I do not feel it is a good fit for adults. It is a good weekend pack and I am keeping it for my wife. The ad needs to show the brochure which clearly show High Sierra packs and who they fit and size.

I bought this pack as a "stand-in" for a last-minute 50km weekend trip I just made, and in the longer term for my boys to use. Thus the range of torso size adjustment, durability and price were all important factors for me.

This pack is reasonably well constructed of what appears to be sturdy materials. The shoulder harness adjustment mechanism (a velcro tab that wraps around loops spaced along the pack spine) is not the greatest it's a little too loose, which means I ended up compensating by tightening the shoulder straps a little more than I'd like. (And perhaps it's just my pack but the harness squeaks as you walk along!) However, considering the price this is a reasonable compromise.

I was looking for a sturdy, well built, and roomy bag for my camping trip and also as an investment as a luggage backpack for all future trips overseas/in the states. I used this for my camping trip and was surprised at how roomy it was and how much it could hold! The straps were more than helpful and I was able to lock my sleeping bag/pillow into place and large water bottle/umbrella on the sides.

Some nice extras this bag has is a bottom compartment for separate items (be it shoes, sleeping bag (mine did not fit!), etc.). A cellphone holder, two straps in the front for poles/axes, a rain fly is in the bottom pocket which you can pull over the bag in case of rain.

Sizing: accordingly the waist size strap for this bag is fit for slim people, I am a slim guy and it fits nicely. The bags with the higher numbers are for regular waist sizes and bigger. The Explorer 55 fits nicely for individuals with a 28" to 31" waist size.

I purchased this pack for a 3 day, 22-mile backpacking trip in Yosemite. The pack proved to be both reliable and comfortable with 45 pounds of gear stuffed into it. Comes with a spacious main compartment with an additional slot for a water bladder and complimenting guide to thread your mouth-piece through; plus, a lower compartment for a well-compressed sleeping bag is separated by a strong, zippered flap. The numerous straps/loops on the exterior creates almost limitless surface area for additional equipment. Additionally, a hidden pocket on the bottom hides away a sweet water proof cover for the pack in the event of a downpour.

The only real issue I found with this bag was its tenancy to loosen at the hip belt. For some reason, every half-hour or so, I found myself re-tightening the belt. Also, the shoulder harness anchor squeaks a bit.

All in all, for my first pack, I found this piece of equipment to be invaluable in what turned out to be a fantastic weekend backpacking through Yosemite.

This bag is great overall. It has plenty of space, and the pockets actually make sense, and are useable. I loved the cooler pocket. It fit one small ice pack and two small bottles. However, after less than 3 weeks of use, the metal part that holds the diaper bag open began to poke through the material. It didn't happen to me, but could have easily snagged clothing or skin.

I only had this bag for three months when a piece of very sharp metal started to poke out, and sliced my hand open. I emailed Fisher Price customer support, and the online form said I'd receive a reply in 2 days. It was a long weekend so I gave them 5, but no reply. Then I tried using their online chat, but it didn't work in 2 browsers. Finally, I called, and spoke with a nice couple of people, who referred me to A.D. Sutton, the maker of the bag, apparently. i was disappointed I couldn't get help right from F-P, I bought a brand I trust so this wouldn't happen. Calling A D Sutton was useless, I was put into voice mail and no one picked up. So now I have a cut hand, a broken bag, and no one wants to help me. Not what I expected from a company like Fisher Price.

I love the size of this bag :) The is room for everything in this bag, and the cooling part for the bottles is very nice and keeps the bottles cold.

The only problem that I have had was with the container that the wipes go in, the wipes dry out. If you can find a container that is portable that keeps them wet it is an amazing design.

This backpack is alright, but I feel like I paid too much money for it. After shipping you end up paying like $60 and I feel I could have gotten a better backpack for the money. The zippers are tough and get stuck a lot and the straps are really wide for me (I'm 5'3 and petite). This bag was just as described, heavy PVC. Working in a prison means checking your bag before you enter. That usually means stopping, opening up the bag and showing it's contents. Now I just walk by and lift it up and turn it once, no stopping. So far the only flaw is a missed stich area about an inch and a half long. A little stiching of my own and it will be perfect. It is durable as I leave it out in my car. We have had many a night below 10 degrees and it does not effect the bag whatsoever.

I bought this for my 4 year old to take to preschool and he loves it. It is just the right size for him just big enough to put a full sized piece of paper in. It seems durable enough and certainly worth the little amount we paid for it. It also arrived in about a week, even coming from the UK, which was a happy surprise. My only complaint would be how little the straps adjust. From as big as it will go to as small as it will go there is a difference of maybe 4 inches, so the straps don't fit very tightly on little tiny shoulders. However, still good enough for us, and my little Doctor Who Fanatic couldn't be more pleased.

Mud River The Sherpa Sack

Nice looking bag; I like the handle and pockets (one inside and out), the backpack-style straps are nice too, heavy duty, no plastic. HOWEVER, this is not what I would call a WAXED canvas bag, as the advertising states. Perhaps I was misinformed, but I own several waxed COTTON garments, and I just assumed this bags material would be similar...it is not. It is indeed canvas, but as far as I can tell there is no wax treatment involved, or any other waterproofing treatment for that matter. I'm not even going to try and use this bag in wet conditions as-is because I don't trust it to be consistently waterproof, as waxed canvas/cotton is supposed to be. However, I won't be sending this bag back because I've got several gallons of the stuff (homemade waterproofing wax) necessary to redeem this bags otherwise lacking qualities, and I hope that it'll become a very necessary and trusted part of my outdoor arsenal. I would've paid more for a bag with a real waxed treatment: bottom line (as far as I'm concerned) is that this is simply a glorified army duffel, marketed to dog trainers and sportsman.

After 9 years of a diaper bag backpack, it was finally time to look for something a little less babyish. During those 9 years of diapers, I grew to love backpacks as an alternative to purses. With kids, often times my hands are full or I'm trying to hold one of their hands and it's so very annoying when your purse keeps slipping down your arm. With a backpack, life is much easier.

I wanted one that would be attractive, not too big since I'm a light traveler but bigger than the mini-packs, sturdy because I absolutely hate picking out purses/bags (took me 4 weeks to make a final decision on this one), and simple. I don't need a lot of pockets and zippers.

My main concern with this bag was the comment about it not being particularly feminine and not exactly durable. Since everything else about this bag looked good, and all other comments positive, I decided to buy it. I went with black and so far, I'm very happy with it. It's very attractive and sturdy. The straps are much thinner than the picture indicates. The main storage area is just right. Inside this area is a spot for your cell phone to slide into which is nice, but could stand to be a little bigger. Since my phone is in a cover it's a pretty tight squeeze to get it to fit. The front zipper compartment is a nice size for wallets or glasses. There's a `hidden' zipper at the back of the bag you can use to access the main compartment. An interesting feature, but I haven't seen a real good purpose for it yet. Anyway, overall I'm very pleased with it. If the snap falls off next week, though, you can bet I'll be back to update this review with a much different rating :-)

Lug Slider 15 Laptop Pouch

This laptop case looks exactly like the photo. I have the grass green shade, and the coloring is spot on. I'm very please with the bag. It has two pockets, one is for the laptop and has a nice fleece-like lining to protect the computer. The other side has 2 larger compartments and 2 pen/cil compartments.

I think one thing that would make it better is if it had the option to clip the long shoulder strap on so it could hang sideways but that's just a thought from the brain of a short person!

Pacsafe CitySafe 100 Anti-Theft Hand Bag

This is a great little bag, very well made. It's neat looking and sturdy but it has a couple of drawbacks. One is the cross body strap. Elsewhere I had seen one review that said the strap was too short to wear across the body but it was only one review among many and I gave it a shot. I am long waisted and over 5' 7" and the bag with the strap extended at its fullest made it awkward getting into the bag while still over the shoulder. It was doable, but awkward. Strap extends to 42.9 inches. The one picture I had seen of it worn that way must have used a model that was about 5' 2". The second issue is the almost worthless side pockets. They are rather narrow and won't fit my phone or my new iPod. Maybe good for a few pencils. There are two zippered pockets inside and a velcroed place for phone or music player but it's not too convenient for easy access if you're not worried about getting robbed.

I'm bummed since it's so well made and am returning it.

I bought this purse for my first travel in Europe a two week trip through five cities in three countries. A couple of the cities were known to have high crime areas. I bought this purse because of the anti-theft features, especially the wire mesh in the strap and around the bottom of the purse. There are other anti-theft devices, too, like an extra hook to hook the zipper closed and also a strap that can un-hook, wrap around the back of a chair, and re-hook. Walking around the various cities on my trip, I felt quite safe with my purse.

It's not the most attractive thing in the world, but I also don't think it's terribly ugly, either. It was large enough to fit a regular sized guide-book in, my small-ish digital camera (a Sony Cybershot anything SLR-sized would be too big or bulky), train tickets, a little wallet for my credit cards, pens, a pocketknife, and a pack of gum. When I purchased smaller things like postcards or little gifts, I could still easily stick those in the bag as well. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I could fit in there without stuffing it.

As one other reviewer said above, the side pockets are too narrow for anything other than a couple of pens or pencils, which is precisely what I used them for. I also didn't have a problem with wearing the purse across my body, and I am a little taller than 5'6". It hung at a perfect height for me to access.

In short, it was a perfect travel purse for me -it met all my needs and I would recommend it highly for anyone who is looking for an anti-theft purse.

I brought this purse to me for 3 weeks in Germany and while I know a lot of the other reviews were to South American, etc., I was in some very "touristy" and crowded areas and this purse helped me travel with confidence. There is a black clasp located at the base of one side of the strap that clips to the main zipper to keep it closed which I LOVED. It's also pretty inconspicuous which was nice. The purse doesn't look unusual but the slash-proofing at the bottom can be felt when you press hard (which I only did to see how it was built) and seen in parts from the inside. I was very happy with the outward appearance. There are a number of card slots built into the inner wall of the purse which I chose to use in place of a wallet so that I only had to take out the card(s) that I needed and not an entire wallet. There is a pouch inside that is the prefect size for a point and shoot camera. It is slightly padded and has a strap with velcro to keep the camera/phone in place. There is also a zip side pocket inside the main pocket where I kept mine and my sister's passports and other important documents when we were relocating. The shoulder strap feels sturdy without being overly stiff or unattractive. Really I was looking for a purse that would give me some peace of mind taking a minor around Europe and this did just that. I'm very happy with it and would definitely recommend it to others.

I bought this bag in April of 2008 for a trip to Rome and liked it so much I kept using it daily after that. I am 5`8 and slender and had no problems with the length of the strap. Unfortunately now, ten months later, a connection point on the strap suddenly broke. At the clip end of the strap that you can use to secure the bag around a chair leg etc the metal piece that anchors that end to the bag has come out of its metal fitting and there is no way to put the two pieces back together. Also while wearing the bag the strap would occasionally become twisted so a minor nuisance but a nuisance none the less. Perhaps the newer bags have fixed these problems.

Updated to add the following. The company replaced the bag free of charge, with the same model but with the design flaw fixed. I would recommend the updated bag to anyone.

Its cool, comfortable, hides easily, washes well (a must in >100 degree weather), has enough room for "essential travel documents" as well as cash and is easy to access in a restroom or other semiprivate place. Best of all, when you look in a mirror and ask "does this make my butt look fat?" the answer is no. It has held up well through rigorous circumstances and I have purchased extras for family and coworkers on subsequent trips. I would recommend this for casual and serious travelers alike.

From the two other reviews, I got the impression that this is a higher quality pouch for the money. My problem with this and all other pouch design is the elastic belt. The elastic does not last long before it loses its elasticity. For the price, I thought the belt would be more sturdy. I just cut the elastic belt off and replace it with a velcro strap. The velcro is more sturdy and is easy to adjust the tension around your waist. For those who do not like the feel of the loop against your skin, I just create a casing (similar to a pillow case with both ends open) with about 1/2 inch of velcro at each end to prevent the casing from coming lose during velcro adjustment. Pouch will now last a long time even with multiple washings and still have a strong belt.

I bought this pouch to carry money on my summer vacation. The silk is soft and smooth, and fits well under my shirt/pants. However, the plastic lining retains body heat, and precipitates sweat, making the pouch uncomfortable. Without the liner, there is the possibility of having damp money. Although it is well made in the I would not recommend this product.

I purchased this backpack for my sons 2012 school year ... He had been asking for it all summer... Even though it was pricey I thought he would really enjoy it. Well School started Aug 15th and By August 25th one of the shoulder straps completely ripped off!! After 3 hours of trying to sew it back on I was able to make it work. Now It is hardly the middle of October and the zippers no longer work. This is such a dissapointment and a complete waste of my money!!! This backpack is very expensive! It should be made out of better quality!!

I always try to order my son something different for use at school, so he doesn't have the typical wal-mart backpack like everyone else, plus, Pokemon stuff is kind of hard to find. I bought backpacks on Amazon in the years before with absolutely no problem. This backpack, however, was not the same! This backpack is VERY cheap feeling. It looks cute, but within in one week of my 3rd grader using it, it fell apart. This is the coolest back pack. I bought one for one of my daughters (the one who I knew would like it), then my older daughter said she really wanted one, so I purchased a second. They are in preschool and 1st grade. The pack is definitely a bit big on them but it's light enough that they can carry it and it is adjustable so the straps (when cinched to the smallest size) do fit nicely on their shoulders. There's a padded divider in the inside (for a laptop) on the green one I purchased, but not in the white one. It's useful to separate their school stuff from their lunch box so I wish it was in both.

They get a ton of compliments from class mates and their pack is quite unique so they always know which is theirs. We've had ours for about 6 months and they've held up well. I just had to clean out the inside of one of the packs bc my daughter filled it with sand/dirt. It was very easy to clean. My only critique is that it doesn't have a good place to hang "swag" on it (ie. keychains, lanyards)....so my girls go without all that stuff dangling from them.
