I love this bag. I wanted to get something that I could take to the beach with a cooler and this works perfectly. It arrived quickly and has a ton of pockets. I can put five water bottles in the cooler. The front straps hide away and it is very comfortable to wear when stuffed. The only issue I had was with the zippers. One of the zippers on the side pocket was sewn shut when it arrived so I had to cut the stitching so I could use the pocket. I was skeptical about this laptop case as there weren't any reviews when I bought it, but I decided to take a chance, and now I'm glad I did.This case fits my 14 inch Vaio perfectly. The colors in the picture are accurate, and the giraffe design is very cute. I know this case will protect my laptop very well from scratches when I put it in my bag, but if I was taking a plane ride, I'd keep -my laptop as a carry-on. The padding on this laptop isn't that great I'm sure it'll protect the laptop from small falls but it's good for everyday use if you're just sticking your laptop in your bag and heading to class or work.
Also, the case was shipped to me very quickly! I expected to receive it on August 17 at the earliest, but I got it on the 14th, two days after I ordered it.
If you're looking for something that will protect your 14 inch laptop from scratches when you're on the move, this is a good choice. It doesn't have any extra pockets, so if you were hoping to hold any laptop accessories in this case, it won't work. But if you're looking for a waterproof case with a fun color and design that will fit your 14 inch perfectly, this is a great product.

Fits my HP Pavilion g4 laptop just fine. (Display size= 14) (Laptop size= 13.4" wide x 9.1" tall x 1.3" thick).The case fits loosely, but it's not loose enough to be annoying. Width-wise it is only a little bit loose; height-wise it has at least an inch of extra room.
The fabric is thick enough to offer some protection without being bulky. Because the fabric is stretchy (I would compare the material to water shoes) I think someone could probably stretch it over a laptop that's a little too big.
I haven't put any wear and tear on it yet but the stitching and zippers seem fine. The case has a rubber tire smell but it's not very strong or bothersome. The color of the fabric is greener and prettier than pictured.

Delivery was on time, however the laptop case was not as pretty as I imagined. So far, my 13.4" Acer had been able to snug comfortably to the case (I wouldn't say a perfect fit, but it was difficult to find the right size in the first place). Yet to test whether the case is water proof but the case feels pretty thick to be able to provide some protection for my laptop. I'd recommend this to someone who's looking for an economic with not too bad designs laptop case.

I recently bought this bag because I have to walk about 1/2 mile from a train station to and from work. I was tired of carring multiple bags to carry my daily things needed for work (purse, lunch, gym clothes, ang laptop). I am able to throw everything into this bag with room to spare and makes my walk to work much easier now with just one bag. I love the style and the color (Dylon) of the bag. I ordered the medium bag. It held everything I needed for an entire weekend away. I really liked the side zipper pocket; I put my hiking shoes in there. I packed way more than I needed for the weekend and it held it all easily. I really like the padded shoulder strap. Powerbag Red Back Pack Designed by ful with Battery for Charging Smartphones, Tablets and eReaders
Summary: A very heavy duty backpack / book bag targeted to students, with much left to be desired in integration of the battery pack the sum of parts is less than the whole.I went on a week long vacation in Jamaica recently and after returning was going to be a lot more critical of this backpack / battery combo, but then after some thinking, concluded that I'm probably not the target customer. The person who would benefit most from this combination is using the backpack to lug their books and stuff to class or work on a daily basis.
The hook is that they've built in a 3000 mAH battery with cables to charge any portable devices to give you some extra life for phone calls when riding home on the train or sitting in a Starbucks flipping through your iPad. If you're getting on a long flight, this isn't going to do much at all for you. The external charge port means you plug in your backpack, rather than having to plug in a device and remember to put it in your backpack.
So what's my beef?
1) Far more of a cool looking consumer backpack than something functional. Adjustable sternum strap is nice, but they prioritized this over a hip strap? Mesh shoulder straps nice but the back part does NOT have mesh which means it really isn't going to be very comfortable for carrying for long at all. As a student daypack for books, that's fine, but I'd also want to be able to take it on a short hike now and then. Lots of padding and stiching which does nothing but make the bag heavier and bulkier.
2) Padded laptop compartment...isn't padded on the sides. They designed a really cool pocket for a laptop but the padding is ONLY on the large flat sides of the laptop, not on the sides and bottom where you really need it. FAIL.
3) Proprietary battery replacement / upgrade battery inserts cost several times more than compete external battery packs from other makers. Did Sony make this backpack?
4) There's a really nice slot for a tablet, but forget about charging it with the supplied cords they're too short and tied to the charging slot on the side you'll have to bring your own cord.
5) 3000 mAH is good for phones, MP3 players and the like, useless for tablets. (Also see complaint #4.)
6) Charger doesn't deliver. Plugging in my HP Touchpad I went from only 12% to 23% charge. Had it been able to deliver it's full 3000 mAH of electron goodness, it should have gone to 62%. BTW, this is less than the charge I was able to get from the 1000 mAH Belkin Portable Power Pack 1000 for Tablet, Smartphone, and more
7) Charging lights barely very visible. In the video you can very clearly see the blue status lights, however on mine, the white status lights shining through the heavy black nylon are *just* visible in side, and basically invisible outdoors.
To recap the backpack itself has some cool features but overall lacks the capability of offerings from companies like Case Logic, Jansport, Deuter,, etc. The battery pack performance is lacking and integration has limitations. I'd recommend getting a good backpack and separate battery pack.
Here are a few battery packs if you're just charging a phone, 2000-3000 mAH is fine, for a tablet, 5000-7000 is better.

The bag has 2 main pockets, one of which should accommodate any laptop (my 15 inch Macbook Pro fits easily) The other compartment has a zippered pouch which includes the removable rechargeable battery and pockets to hold an iPhone or iPod as well as a larger pocket for an iPad with a velcro closure with a hole in it to allow hookup for charging in the pocket. An iPad fits very snugly in the pocket any case on the iPad must be removed first. Also included are a couple pockets for pens and some small pockets which could accommodate credit cards. Any devices charged within the pack need to be hooked up to the USB port on the battery assembly with cables which you supply. There is also an outer pocket with the charging cables already run to it which can be used to charge an iPhone or other cell phone in the outer pocket. Included are Apple 30 pin, micro USB, and mini USB cables.
The battery itself is marked 7.4 V / 11.1 Wh (which I had assumed meant 11.1 watt-hours but I may be wrong on that) and can be removed and charged via the included charger or charged in place via the covered port on the back of the pack. That included charger is well designed with a flip out wall plug and case design to allow the cable to be wound around the unit. This is a very Apple-like touch which avoids messy loose cables.
The button on the back of the pack can be pressed momentarily to check charge state of the battery and must be pressed for 2 full seconds to start charging a device. Battery state is indicated by a series of LEDs which illuminate through the backpack material and when they are off are invisible.
Overall, I am very impressed with this backpack and would recommend it. With so many portable devices that we have needing to be re-charged, FUL came up with the idea of the Powerbag Back Pack, which combines a computer back pack with a removable/swappable built-in battery.
There is a regular USB 2.0 socket on the charger, located inside the front compartment, as well as three kinds of cables (micro USB, mini USB, and Apple 30-pin) that are pre-wired inside a zippered, small side pocket. The cables are not very long, probably designed that way to minimize entanglement. They are for charging small USB devices like cellphones, iPods, and MP3 players. The pocket is designed to hold them while they are being charged.
For larger devices like the Apple iPad or Amazon Kindle Fire, you should use the USB port and the appropriate, self-provided cable to charge them.
A proprietary 3000 mAh capacity rechargeable battery is provided with the Powerbag Back Pack. You can order additional batteries (@$40) at the maker's website (wwwdotpowerbagdotcom). There are also 6000 mAh ($50) and 9000 mAh ($60) batteries available. The battery can output a maximum current of 2.8 Amps, so you can charge an iPad which requires 2.1 Amps and another USB device at the same time. Theoretically, you can charge up to four devices at the same time, but charging time will be longer, because the charging current is shared by the devices.
What makes this bag special is the LED charging and battery state indicator embedded inside the fabric of the bag, and the battery power inlet on the bag that allows you to charge the built-in battery without taking the battery out of the bag. You can see what these look like by clicking customer pictures.
To begin charging a device, you first connect the devices to the appropriate cable, then press the power button on the front of the Powerbag for 2 seconds, until the LED's light up to indicate both the battery state and to commence charging. Pressing the power button again would turn off the charging process.
Of course you can also buy a USB battery charger and put it in a back pack to achieve the same function. What Powerbag does is giving you a more integrated and MUCH more convenient package. I also like the availability of additional and higher capacity battery packs that can extend the time I am away from AC power.The idea of the Powerbags is very neat, and I will agree with every positive review here on the great features of the bag, especially the integrated battery.
However, as a "rodwarrior" travelling in and out of airports all the time, I expect my backpacks to withstand "lots of torture".
All the benefits aside, this Powerbag has one very important weakness: the sides of the compartment on the back/spine of the backpack (where the laptop slides in), are just one layer of nylon providing no protection to the long-side-edges of the laptop whatsoever...Furthermore the seams between this nylon and the more robust "ballistic" nylon that cover the whole front and back facias of the backpack ripped in 2 months of use! My colleague mentioned that my laptop was protruding out the side of the bag in an airport as I was holding the backpack on one shoulder...little more and the laptop would have ripped through this tear and fallen/crashed on the terminal floor.
Until this issue is fixed, I don't even want the replacement backpack that Powerbag may be sending me. I cannot risk my equipment ripping & falling out of these bags.
Hope this helps. This is a great backpack, in its own right. It's quality construction and looks great. Maybe it could do with a little extra padding here or there, but for the most part, even without the battery integration, this would be a great backpack. It fits a laptop, but I think it's more suited to a tablet (since there is that battery).
The battery integration is done very well. It's easy to charge, and has been a great help with my battery eating HTC DROID INCREDIBLE 2 Android Phone (Verizon Wireless). I'm reminded of Ghostbusters where they had to carry their power packs around on their back... who would of think I needed to do that just for a little mobile phone? But that is indeed the case.
Personally, I felt the price to be high until I looked into the price of a normal backpack like Targus Drifter II Backpack for 16-Inch Laptop TSB238US (Black/Gray) and an external battery pack like PowerGen Black Mobile Juice Pack / External Battery Pack 2900mAh UltraSlim Power Bank Charger (with Built in Micro USB) for HTC Sensation 4G XE XL, EVO 3D, ThunderBolt, Inspire 4G, Sprint EVO, EVO Shift, Rezound / Motorola Arix, Triumph, Droid Razr X 3 .... It's actually quite fair, especially considering the convenience of the tight integration.
All in all, this really does stand out as a unique offering, and they did a great job!
[Update 2/6/2013] A new discovery about the bag: it also has a spot for you to plug in a USB cord if you have something exotic for which they don't have a standard connector. That's been REALLY helpful recently; a great feature! [End Update]

Dakine Carry On Roller
We purchased this to put toys and things for our 2 year old during flights. The design ensures that we can open up the entire suitcase (during flight) to access toys, snacks, etc during the flight which is great. However, when you are waiting in-line for check-in etc, unlike our other luggage pieces which have 4 wheels, this piece (because it is soft-sided as well) tips over (even after placing the heavy / solid items on the bottom). It is a minor annoyance but enough to be frustrating when your hands are full.

I wouldn't call this an anti-theft strap; it is more of a delayed theft strap. If someone tries to take your purse or bag, they will not be able to grab it and run. They will be a bit delayed. It's basically a nylon strap with a plastic latch. The lock is just a simple notched area that has to line up for the latch to open. Not a difficult thing to do, but if someone hasn't seen one of these before, they may leave the bag and look for one that is less secure.I will be using this on my trip to Italy for when I'm riding on trains or sitting in cafes. I'll follow up after my trip to report on the real world usability of this strap.
BFM-BLR: Boa Flow M Black Red Backpack (Fits 13-17 Mac)
Booq is known for their high quality (and pricey) laptop bags & backpacks and the Boa Flow M does not disappoint. This is the finest laptop bag/backpack I have ever owned and I've only had it for a couple days. There is plenty of room & compartments for whatever you need to carry, the bottom front compartment will hold a DSLR with an attached 18-250MM lens comfortably. When you put something of this size in that compartment it will result in a large "hump" inside the main compartment, but you can still put a lot in there, take the camera out and collapse the "hump" (it has an adjustable velcro strap) and you have a fairly level setting inside the roomy main compartment which is lined with pockets along it's walls. The laptop compartment is nice and snug and protects the laptop extremely well. It will fit any sized MacBook and MacBook Pro laptop as advertised which was major buying point for me as I currently use a 15" MBP but and looking to upgrade to a 17" MBP at some point. Another great feature about this backpack is how comfortable it feels on your back, the engineering of this thing is incredible, plus while being big enough to carry whatever you need it's not so big that you will feel overwhelmed by it, it's "just right" in my opinion. The only thing I don't like about this backpack is that it will not stand up on it's own (with a modest compliment of equipment in it), you will have to lean it against something or let it lie flat.Overall I would recommend this to anybody, yeah it's expensive but you get what you pay for and this bag is well worth the money.
When I dropped 200 bucks on this backpack I was just planning on using it as a school textbook + 15" MBP carrier. When I received it the backpack was actually much larger than I expected, and I found the paddings inside the main compartment somewhat annoying for shoving in my textbooks and binders unless I opened the zippers all the way. It's a sizable backpack, but it's not ideal for throwing in 3 or more textbooks/binders. The backpack was bulky and the nondetachable waist straps got caught in the armrest whenever I sat the backpack on a desk chair. It worked but it was a bit too big for my daily school life.
Daily commute:
Then I used this backpack for daily subway commute with my laptop and a load of books. I realized the backpack is a lot more comfortable for long distance travel than I had expected. The only issues were 1) that the nondetachable waist straps fell through gaps when I threw the backpack onto the subway overhead compartment, making it difficult to pull the backpack out of the compartment at once when I needed to get off the subway 2) it was too bulky to stand inside crowded subways. It still got the job done whatever I would throw into the backpack there was not one time it came out damaged, and the backpack remained unstained and undamaged thanks to its solid construction. Also my back didn't sweat as much as I did with other backpacks of this size.
Urban backpacking trip:
I didn't realize how insanely well-built this thing was until I went on a 2-week solo trip all over Norway with it. I fit everything inside the backpack's padded main compartment, and I had to press on the backpack with my upper body to close the zipper. I don't have any pictures but in short, the backpack looked like it was about to explode. And by everything I mean: all of my clothes, my loyal 5D Mark II (the front camera compartment would do a good job of protecting an entry-level DSLR, but 5D Mark II with a 35mm f/2 ZE just didn't fit in snugly), a 100mm f/2 ZE lens, a filter kit, and a towel. One thing I learned (although nothing was damaged in the process) is that if the main compartment is full (as in, bulging out), other compartments will be affected quite a bit. For instance, in this 'about to explode' state I would not have been able to fit an entry-level DSLR into the front compartment. I threw the backpack in this 'about to explode' state into the airplane overhead compartment 11 times (the backpack fit inside every compartment I've tried except Dash 8-100) and checked it in once (nothing damaged, including my MBP 15"). I had a Manfrotto Compact tripod (1' 4") hanging onto the backpack left pocket with one foot the whole time, and once I sprinted with the front camera compartment wide open for 10 minutes (I had travel documents and passport in the thin layers inside the compartment), and nothing ever fell out of the backpack. The zippers are impressively well-built, since they never exploded on me no matter how much stuff I would fit under them. Also, even after two weeks of hectic travel, there were no dust stains or scratches on the backpack. The surface is does not absorb water. If I explored the rain forest with this that could be a different story, but for urban travelers this backpack should get the job done. Was it comfortable? Yes, I walked around with it on my back (total weight 18kg) for an entire day a few times one time and I never felt sore.

Probably not. it's extremely well-padded but there are no straps for large tripods nor are there dividers to prevent your lenses/cameras from crashing into each other inside the main compartment. As I said, the front compartment is not big enough to snugly fit any camera bigger than an entry-level DSLR. But if you're a traveler and photography happens to be one of your main pursuits I would say it would be a pretty good bet because 1) if you own an entry-level DSLR you can fit it in the front compartment and 2) if you have a big DSLR you can just throw it in the main compartment with clothes, books, or any objects that will not scratch your camera and lens. In this case I actually recommend getting a separate lens case.
Urban commuter? Yes, if you need to carry around a ton of stuff that needs shock protection. Not to mention your laptop in the laptop compartment, but also anything you throw into the main compartment. Just remember that there are no dividers although there is a thin layer at the back surface where you can slide in files, two Velcro pockets big enough to fit an iPhone or two, and a 5" deep open pocket on the front compartment side of the interior where you can fit in some gadgets. Two side pockets can each fit a 0.6L Sigg bottle, and the front compartment has 3 layers (1 big enough for a camera, 2 thin for more small gadgets, a boarding pass, or folded documents). The bottom compartment has room for an MagSafe charger and more. Just remember that the waist strap can get annoying.
Urban backpacker? Of course. It's pretty stylish for a bag of this size, it's super comfy, and there's no velcro pocket so it'll probably make pickpockets say "Pass." The waist strap could be a big plus in this case, although it's comfortable enough without it. And it doesn't get stained very easily. Just don't go wandering in the safari with this thing.
What could be better?
As I said already the waist strap can be annoying. But this is built for an urban backpacker so I can't really complain.
The top handle gives you a good grip when you're lifting the backpack with one hand, but there's no way to hang the backpack onto a hook like other backpacks (unless the hook is really big). A compromise for sleeker design but I think Booq could have figured something out here.
Putting on and taking off the backpack takes more than 5 seconds. But I think this is a worthy compromise because this is also the most comfy backpack I've ever used.
Boa Flow is the best backpack out there if you're looking for a way to carry all your stuff around cities with maximum protection. It also looks quite nice. I highly recommend this backpack.

Ok I've now had my Booq backpack for over 5 years and have used it everday (similar to this model but I think my model was discontinued). Traveling all over the country and to work everyday. 2 different Dell 17" laptops and now have a 15" Toshiba. This bag is definitely one of the best designed/built pieces of gear I've ever owned. Yes, they are more expensive but in this case, you get what you pay for as it lasts longer and is more comfortable. Booq gets the award for best quality backpack, and worst design. Its a good backpack, but two of the features make this a dealbreaker for me. First, the camera pocket is on the bottom of the bag. So if you bag is ever checked, or ever thrown, or anything, you will be extremely worried about the valuables in that bottom pocket, because they will hit the ground first. Second, some may think this is not a big deal, but I do: I need a water bottle pocket! Booq will not put a simple mesh pocket on their bags or backpacks for water bottles. If you ever travel, you know how important this is. Do this while travelling: stop walking, dig through your backpack, find your drink, take a drink, then put it back, then zip up backpack, then put back on your shoulders, then continue travelling. Or, here is an idea, have a mesh water bottle pocket on the side of the backpack for easy access! This bag is very comfortable to wear with ample back and shoulder support. The laptop and camera pockets are very well padded. The stitching and fabric appear to be of high quality. There are more than enough pockets and compartments, but the back pocket stands out as uniquely engineered with a flap that opens upwards. This is surprisingly effective. The handle is padded (thank you!) and the overall design looks attractive and professional.

When on vacation in Canada we saw briefcases like this one. At the time we did not make a purchase and regretted it until I found this to give to my husband as a gift. Dakine Varial Pack
this backpack is my perfect except one small thing. The zipper for the outside compartment where the board is slung is really weak. I have used the board carriers mybe a dozen times and i can see my griptape has eaten part of the zipper material complete through, and i am worried if i put on there a few more times its going to be ruined.Other than that the backpack is great, it is compact when i have little to nothing in it and can accomodate alot of stuff if need be, especially for a smaller backpack. SwissGear ScanSmart Laptop Backpack - Black
I've had this backpack for almost 6 months now and its a good solid backpack with tons of room. No defects yet and everything still in excellent working order and I do use this daily.Cons I do find a few things odd to me. For instance: The rear compartment, where you put the laptop, has a zipper that goes down one side and only up as high as top center. I sometimes have trouoble getting my 15.6" laptop in and out of there. I cant imagine how easy to use it would be with a larger laptop. They should have at least let the zipper go all the way across the top.
The second thing that bothers me is the shoulder straps. I'm a large guy, 6'1" 250lbs and the padded part of the strap just makes it to my chest making it uncomfortable to carry using only 1 strap, like you see school kids do, so I've been wearing it using both straps.
Pros I would like to state again that I love the room this backpack has. It might not look it but it has volumes of room. I can easily carry my laptop, charger, mouse, phone charger, large bottle of ibuprophen, hairbrush, stain stick, dayplanner, lunch, dinner, two 2 liter bottles of soda, and a couple of books and still have some room to spare.

I've had and used a SwissGear backpack since high school and well through college. Recently, I've been traveling more and the additional step of removing my notebook from my bag has been a hassle. Chances you may drop it, or even forget it at the checkpoint are constantly on your mind. My old bag provided great padding for my notebook and was still in great condition, but it was time to upgrade. This bag changed all that for me.I found this exact bag at a local Sam's Club for just under $40 and it's fantastic. I have passed through several airports Las Vegas (LAS), Seattle (SEA), Columbus (CMH), Orlando (MCO), New York (LGA) and countless others and have not yet had an issue with this bag. The TSA reserves the right to ask you to remove your notebook from your bag even in a ScanSmart bag, but not once since I have been using this bag have exercised that need. For storage the bag has a good amount of internal and external pockets for stowing electronics and various charging cables. The pockets on the side are great for holding my notebook charging cable and a bottled beverage.
This bag is sturdy and holds up really well. SwissGear offers a 5-year warranty with most of their bags but they are such great quality I've never had to use it so I can't comment on that process. One additional tip with this bag is when passing through security; you can put your Kippie/311 bag in the pocket inside the zip down section. As you zip your bag down flat, your Kippie/311 bag is right there for placing in one of the bins. Past the checkpoint it's easy to zip it back up and be on your way without delay.

This backpack is awesome! I am a graduate student who travels often, so I really enjoy the scan smart feature and the laptop compartment is also easily accesible and nicely padded. It also has a ton of other really useful pockets that even keep me organized (which is quite a feat). Also, Swissgear backpacks last forever (my last one lasted almost 8 years). I would have given the backpack five stars except that the light grey portions of the backpack are much darker than they are pictured here.
