I gave this bag 5 stars because it fits very well and is airline carry on compliant.I loaded this bag with about 30lbs of clothes and photography gear on a 2 week trip to the Philippines. It fit very well with and rested nicely on my hips with the help of the hip support.
The main compartment of this bag unzips completely which makes it easy to pack and utilize every inch of the bag. The outermost compartment unzips partially to allow more of pocket for things that need to be accessed quickly like a laptop or paperwork.
The zippers on the bag also have loops to put a lock in to keep it safe. I was able to loop all 4 zippers with one lock.
The shoulder straps fit very well and are padded nicely to insure good support on the shoulders. It's a very comfortable fit once properly fitted to your body.

I used this in combination with some packing cubes (which I also recommend) on a trip from the states to Italy. This was my first time traveling internationally. I was so glad to use this as my primary bag--whether on the plane or on the train. I did not envy people with roll-aboards because I was confident I could carry this on my back and it would dutifully fit into an overhead bin (even under the seat!) on both plane and train. I hate checking luggage, but airlines have gotten really tough about limiting the size of carry-on bags. So, when I planned a recent 3 week trip to Europe, I knew that my roll-on bag wasn't going to cut it. This backpack is perfectly sized to fit every major airline's limits.Really well designed. Tough but lightweight. Lots of pockets, intelligently placed, with sturdy zippers that are protected by storm flaps. Two really sturdy padded handles that are not going to fail when you need them. Comfortable back straps that hide nicely when not in use.
I should mention that I am not some college student kicking around Europe. I'm a retired ex-lawyer who stays in real hotels and B&Bs. This is by far, the best travel luggage I have ever used.

I bought this for a recent conference to replace my old luggage. I was dead-set on not checking any bags. Between this bag and a small laptop bag, I was able to take enough clothing for a week-long conference, along with an extra pair of dress shoes, a pair of running shoes, and all my technology (iPad, laptop, chargers, mouse, cables, headphones, etc) and still stay within carry-on requirements.The bag is convertible you can use it as a backpack, or zip-up the back straps and attach a shoulder strap to carry it like a gym bag, and it has big comfy handles on the top and side for carrying by hand. Very nice.
Filled to the brim and compressed using the handy internal and external straps, the bag easily fit within the carry-on dimensions on the United flight I had. I have no doubts it would fit within the carry-on requirements of most airlines based on my research. It might not fit well into the overhead bins on some smaller planes, but I was still able to carry it to the gate. If I hadn't filled it to capacity, I probably could have shoved it into the overhead bins on the small plane.
Overall this is a comfortable bag for the business traveler it doesn't look like a hiker/adventurer bag, and its features are definitely more travel-friendly. I also used it as my primary bag during the conference, and though it's not the most fashionable choice, it looks much more business-appropriate than most high-end backpacks. Considering the Osprey quality and no-strings lifetime warranty, it is value-priced in my opinion as well. I'm quite pleased.

I should have known when I looked for a "book bag" that it was not intended for adults????? I would never have bought this item if I had the opportunity to handle it before ordering it. The rolling was the key need for this book bag. Unfortunately the handle does not extend far enough for an adult to comfortably use the rolling feature. I would not recommend this bag for anyone over 5 foot tall.

Timbuk2 Amnesia Laptop Backpack
I've had this backpack for a few weeks now and it was great both for flying across the Atlantic and for everyday use at the university. The organizer within the lower pocket is sufficient for me, with slots for three pens/pencils plus another four smaller pockets for erasers, wallet, phone, keys, whatever, and then one big zippered pocket.In other reviews of Timbuk2 bags I'd read about there being some weird foam roller thing in the bottom of the laptop compartment which made it so that your laptop would have to go in the pocket in a certain way or else it would be uncomfortable. Fortunately this design is absent from the Amnesia bag, and I've been able to throw my 13" laptop in there any which way and it is always perfect, even when biking.
The smaller top pocket is padded so you could also put your cell phone or other electronics in there without worrying about it getting scratched up.
The water bottle holder easily fits a 32 ounce Nalgene bottle, which is very handy. Some might like to have more than one bottle holder but for me, this is just fine.
The helmet lops seem to work great too and I don't really worry about my helmet (or bike lock) coming out.
The bag is very comfortable, even when I put in my laptop, a nice big 800 page textbook plus two smaller books, a cable lock for my laptop, a notebook, pens, pencils, etc. with still plenty of room to spare for a light jacket, lunch, or whatever.
Overall I'm very impressed with the bag, and I expect to have it for a long time. Nice job, Timbuk2!
---UPDATE 1-20-2013 ---
While reviewing something else I saw this one again and thought I'd update to say that now, 8 months later, the bag is still in great shape and holding up exceptionally well. Still no complaints here!
Unfortunately on the way to the airport, the pack strap broke threads pulled out of the adjustable ring attach point on the right shoulder. there was no abuse that caused this nor was this because I overloaded the bag. the threads must not have been terminated properly and they pulled out. I am glad I had already shouldered it on my left arm as I would have possible caused damage to my laptop. So be sure to inspect the threads/sewing on the straps where they attach to the adjustable rings give them a pull and make sure it doesn't come undone!

Well Ive been using the bag for two days commuting 6 miles each day with it. It hold my tennis shoes, laptop, textbooks, pens and pencils, and my flat kit. I love this pack, it stays incredibly steady while riding and distributes the weight very well. Its light and comfortable as all get out. Plus the blue matches my bike haha. THe bottle opener is awesome as well. THE WATER BOTTLE POCKET DOES HOLD A NALGENE!! this pack is one of the few Ive found that actually fits a nalgene bottle. I bought this bag to replace my Timbuk2 Superbad pack. I loved how spacious it was, but the straps were killing me. I attend University and have some heavy books and have to tote my computer around a lot. So I was looking for some more padding. I looked at various other brands, but I am really fond of Timbuk2 for their durability and materials.I bought the Amnesia Daypack and have been using it for a little less than a week and its excellent so far. The straps are padded sufficiently, it might not seem like they are when you first put it on or touch them but its just the right amount. The padding on the back is EXCELLENT. I can carry my French book, 5 subject notebook, three or four smaller books, my laptop and a jacket comfortably.
This pack is very tall! It might be uncomfortably tall for some. I'm about 5'6" (female) and have a long torso and it is fine for me. This is great because you can put things on top of your books (like workout clothes and other things.
A note about the laptop compartment-you can only access it from the side zipper. So far I haven't had any problems with the zipper slipping but it could be since it zips up and not down. You can not put the laptop in from the main compartment, but I don't find this to be an issue. The pencil pouch at the top, if filled, can make the laptop sag a little. The helmet loops are great for attaching even a heavy lunchbox. The velcro pocket fits a Macbook Pro charger comfortably without gouging out too much.
Overall, excellent backpack! 5/5 stars, can't think of anything to change. Feel free to comment with questions and I'll try to answer.

I've had the Timbuk2 Amnesia backpack for a little over a year now (since December of 2011) and I have to say I'm a bit disappointed. After only one year of use at university carrying minimal weight the majority of the time, it is fraying on the right side. The stitching on the water bottle holder is also coming undone and it now has a small hole in the seam. The "rubbery" coating on the bags interior is also peeling off. For what I paid and Timbuk2's supposed reputation, I expected it to stay in better shape.My main gripe with this bag is its lack of pockets. Not including the internal computer sleeve, it has one front organizer pocket, the small top pocket, and the interior itself. I rarely put things in the actual organizer panel within the front pocket, save maybe a few pens. I find everything else is hard to reach, especially given the bag is floppy and falls over constantly. I usually just drop things in there, as the side zip and velcro flap make using this as anything but a stash pocket annoying. I like the top pocket for keeping pens and things; it is easy to reach with the bag next to you, although the bags inability to stand up on its own sometimes spills the top pocket's contents everywhere.
The bag has a side-access laptop pocket, which is well-padded. I like it very much, although as someone who is handicapped, the side zipper is more annoying than helpful. It also has a fabric sling in the bottom which keeps your computer from hitting the floor when you drop the bag. Other than these pockets, the bag is one huge bucket. For some people this may work, but for me, it means I have to fight with my things. Once I load the bag up with school books and binders, the only space left is above them. I can lay things on top to fit more in the pack, but then I have to pull all those things out to reach my books. I would have preferred two sections to put things in.
Otherwise, this is a nice bag. The laptop compartment is nice, the straps and back padding are comfortable, and the addition of a bottle opener on the strap is neat. I haven't really used the "ears" because I don't need them, but they stay shut nicely and do not get in the way unused. I just dont think Timbuk2 quality is what it used to be, and I hear they have since moved their production out of the US, which is sad. Timbuk2, thanks for the nice bag, but I will be buying my next one from a real "Made in the USA" company.

Olympia Skyhawk 22 Inch Expandable Airline Carry-On
I travel every week for business, so I need a suitcase that is roomy, lightweight, and that is small enough that I never have to check luggage. I replaced a 15 year old suitcase with this and am thrilled! It seems durable (I've been using for two months), has a great look, is easy to maneuver (spinning wheels help), and also has ample room in the main pocket and useful outside pockets the perfect size for your laptop, book, boarding pass, and whatever else you need to take quickly from your suitcase before boarding the plane. I would definitely purchase this again.
This unit is VERY well constructed. No loose threads hanging out, zippers all feel nice and solid, and the pulls work well and the teeth mesh perfectly. Looks great, and the expandable/collapsable handle works well, lock and all, and feels quite solid when extended. The wheels pivot well and roll well when you're pulling it behind you, but the thing I don't like about them is that it doesn't roll well when tilted and PUSHED rather than pulled. Sometimes as I'm going it's easier to push a piece of luggage in front of me depending on traffic flow, and this one just doesn't do that at all. One of the wheels will stay in the right position to be pushed, but the other won't line up in that direction, and points off, making this thing roll in random directions. So while the wheels work quite well, it's only when pulled behind as designed...
Other than that this is one of the better pieces of luggage I've had as far as sturdiness and flexibility. the carry handle is very thick and well made, the metal bands thicker than most I've seen in this size, and double riveted to the bag itself.
I took this on a trip this week, and had no problems with it fitting in the compartments on a Delta jet, it fit both ways, shoved in wheels first so it was "longest" way to protrude, as well as pushing in sideways when there were not many people on the return flight. Held up great, no scuffs, and the little plastic bag that it comes with for toothpaste and such was enormously helpful going through customs. As was the front zippered section, which is where I carried both my iPad and my son's iPad, so they were quickly and easily removed for the security checkpoints.

So, I recently purchased this bag because I was taking a trip to Vegas and wanted a little additional space than the backpack that I normally use. The reviews for this bag were great and that was what really propelled me to get this bag.First, about the bag. The bag is wonderful. Extra compartments, plenty of pockets, wheels/handles/zippers all work great.
However, each and every time I went to get on a plane (I had two a connecting flight both ways, for a total of 4 planes), I was asked to check my bag since it didn't fit in the airline approved compartment. The stewardess' on each flight made me place my bag (which was not opened that additional two inches and not "stuffed" by any means) in that mental sizer before boarding the plane. Of COURSE it's not going to fit. (But then again, whose carry-on bag actually fits in there?)
Either way, on 2 of the 4 flights (all Frontier), they took my bag and made me check it. On the remaining two, I was stopped by a stewardess who told me that it was too big. I told her that the bag was sized by American Airlines to fit in the overhead compartment and that it was a carry-on. Admittedly, I was getting a little annoyed by being harassed by this bag since I had purchased it with the intent of carrying on. Seeing much bigger bags be let on is also completely frustrating.
Either way, the bag DOES fit just fine in the overhead bin. Slips right in. However, as the flight attendant rudely told me, "the bag MAY fit in the overhead bin, but it doesn't mean the airline standards of size."
So....I don't know if this is an issue with Frontier or if this is something that will be encountered with other airlines. I will be flying home to Chicago using both Southwest and American Airlines (now if THEY make me check this bag I will have to laugh) so I can update this review when I have experience with other airlines.

The main for buying this carry on was to get a four-wheeled one and the correct size for American Airlines. Unfortunately, the four wheels don't roll as they should. First time in a airport, it did just fine; I was able to have it roll on my side. But after my first flight, it wouldn't roll well on the aircraft aisle. I thought it was the flooring, but the wheels kept wobbling making it impossible to roll it on my side. It looks like the wheels just can't get aligned on the right direction. The only way to roll it was to push it on front of me or drag it from the back. I could understand after many flights this happening, but not before I even got off the plane on my first flight with it! I even tried it again at home, now totally empty, to no avail.Otherwise, the size is good. There's plenty of room and an additional 2" expansion if you need it. I measured this bag and it measures exactly as advertised. 22" x 14" x 9" (with 2" expansion). I didn't weigh it. It's listed as weighing 9 lbs empty. It didn't feel as heavy though. Even though not designed for it, the front pocket can hold a 13-14" laptop easily (but not a 15"). The quality of the fabric looks good and durable. The side water bottle holder is useful.
Price would be excellent if this rolling bag would roll as it should. (I paid around $63 with Prime delivery included.

I was hesitant to buy a new bag after having a few cheap-ies die on me (usually its the wheels that go first in my experience, especially if you have to do some walking with your bag, to get cabs, and so on).This was my first amazon luggage purchase, and I was a bit hesitant as there weren't many photos of this particular item (you can look now, I did add a bunch!) and I wasn't familiar with the quality of the product being offered. However once the bag came, I was extremely pleased.
The bag is made of durable material, and has large secure zippers (didn't get anything caught in them, and they are easy to work with). The wheels are very smooth, when walking through the airport, this thing works well being pulled, riding beside you (all 4 wheels down) and even pushed (all 4 wheels, as 2 wheels makes it go wonky -wheels are swivel motion based, so not really for pushing, they will rotate at any slight turns).
So far I have used the bag on 2 flights and it has worked really well, both comfortable to go through security checks with, works well as a carry-on (obvious selling point for me). Not sure why someone complained that this bag was too big for carry-on? I didn't have any issues on Delta flights, even tho one plane was specifically valet, which resulted in my bag being put under the plan as opposed to above my head.
Overall, great luggage, easy to travel with, strong construction (when waiting for your flight, use it as a foot rest while reading, doesn't sag / squish down at all).

Nice enough case, good price but seemed much too big for the typical laptop. Maybe we read it wrong maybe it was listed wrong but we ended up returning (which was also easy) because of the size.

It was not only large enough, there was extra room. Did not use the "hidden handles" as I was afraid that they wouldn't hold up (which were noted before purchase from other buyers) . my 17 inch laptop fits very well with room on top for the cords. I like the design and love having the choice of the shoulder strap or the handles.(a minor thing is you can't zip all the way when using the handles since they come from the inside.) The feeling is smooth and gel-like however I wished it was thicker so I felt like is was well protected. I don't think I would want to travel too far or too long with my goods in it. Protection could be better but keep in mind this is a computer carrying sleeve and not a suitcase. I mentioned the design was very nice and I would say it works for man or woman but I wished it looked a little more like the picture with that pretty blue. In real life its darker almost like a midnight blue/purple with a purpleish swath in the middle but overall nice. Up close the design doesn't look like its cheap or cheesily done. I do recommend it for people looking for a backup case or a light travel carrier.

Look, I love Tumi luggage and bags. This bag is one of the larger gym bags that I've owned. It's quality and had tons of space for your clothes, shoes, and whatever other accessories you might want. Also works well as a weekend bag.I'm 6'2" and this is one of the few bags with a shoe compartment that actually fits my shoes. Tumi has been great with repairs to other Tumi items that I have.Its meant to be for the gym but I have used it for everything but that! I would highly recommend this bag for short trips. It is pretty spacious and has compartments/packets for your accessories including a slide in for your shoes. I have used it for flights its a little smaller than the standard cabin baggage but I don't usually carry a larger bag so this fits the bill. It really doesn't look like a gym bag, so it is not out-of-place.

i use this every day, and ahve had it for months. Still looks great. I like how streamlined it appears. Would have liked an external water bottle pocket, but i guess that would have detracted from the sleek look. Also, it is built very durably, fits in a gym locker perfectly, zippers are heavy duty, and the internal pocket is convenient. I don't find much use for the shoe compartment, but it can be used for other things than shoes. Anyway, if you like the look of this bag, you will not be disappointed, because it is really well made!

The case itself is good quality and looks like it could protect a netbook really well. However, don't buy this if you're planning on using it for the AO756. It's just a little bit too short to zip up all the way. Kinda defeats the purpose of having a case. Seriously, do your customers a favor and don't misadvertise these things.
