This is a pretty good day pack. It is nothing fancy but it is functional. I love the webbing it comes in handy keeping thinks like a rain shell easily accessible. My one complaint is that I wish the straps where a little wider and a little more padded on a long hike you probably want some more padding there.

Briggs & Riley Luggage Compact Digital Case

I no longer travel with my laptop, rather I use my iPad while on the road. I needed a high quality case since there was no need to cary a full laptop case. I own a laptop case from the same maker and thought I would give this a try (and I also own a Tumi carry on yet Briggs and Riley is in my opinion every bit as well made). This is very well setup. The main compartment has plenty of room for your iPad and any other necessities, like a book, notepad or file folder. The front compartment is also setup well for pens, cell phone, business cards and some other odds and ends. I keep my earbud case in there along with USB charger etc. There are really only two drawbacks: 1) I wish it had a traditional handle as sometimes I would rather carry it that way and 2) if you are male and not secure in you masculinity, then you might be a little conscious that this looks an awful lot like a man purse! All is good. I'll worry about my thinning hair or expanding waistline before I worry about how I look carrying a man bag!

I own many pieces of Briggs and Riley as well as Tumi and I honestly think that B&R is a better value overall. For one, they offer a life time warranty and their pieces seem more "robust" than Tumi. Having said that, I'm not a big fan of this bag mainly because of the shoulder strap. It's "cross body" style so that both ends terminate on one side of the bag instead of on either side. I prefer the shoulder straps to end on either side of the bag but I wanted to see what this was like. It's claimed that this style is easier to carry and holds the bag closer to the body (more stable). I don't like this style so I returned it.

Phineas and Ferb Eyes Messenger Bag

My seven year old boy wanted something to carry his "stuff" in and his 17 year old brother has a sling that he uses so finding this item was great. It's a sling and looks just like the picture. I had to warn him that some may say it's a "purse" which did happen at church, but several other kids immediately said no it wasn't and that it was very cool. He had some really good feedback on it, but even better I was happy that he loved it no matter what anyone said. It's just the right size for him. It was great on a beach trip for him to keep track of all his special things.

I received this bag in the mail today and I must admit I was a little taken aback when I saw the size of thebackpack within the shipping package.

It didn't look as big as I thought it would.

When I opened the packaging to truly look at the bag I realized it's shape..

It is very roomy within the bag..it is perfect to fit heavy school books, surprisingly..I never would have expected the bag to fit so many books.

Although there is a point where the ability to fit books stops..it will fit all of the essentials and It is perfect to use for school!!

There is a place within the bag to fit a water bottle but any plastic ones will most likely crush within the bag.

There are also 3 exterior pockets that are surprisingly roomy as well.

One of my favorite features about the bag is the pull-strap ability to enclose your items within the bag..it works very well and is also a cute feature to this backpack.

Overall. The price of the bag is a little steep but worth it for the quality of the bag I would definitely recommend to a friend.

Oh, the bag is also very supportive..the straps don't hurt at all and the back has a lot of padding which prevents any books from stabbing into your back.

It's truly a great bag that will last for a while

Samsonite 5 Piece Nested Luggage Set

On my 1st use the luggage broke. The bottom of the 26 inch suitcase broke and now will not stand by itself. I bought samsonite because i thought it was goin to be dependable i was wrong.

I've had this set for almost 3 years and have traveled on average once a month with the two rolling bags and smallest bag. The black does get dirty but is not hard to clean. We're not too hard on our Luggage, and mostly travel by car, but our set shows very little wear to date. The quality is good though I know that you can spend more money and get awesome quality. I would buy this set again.

We bought this luggage for a two week vacation to Florida that involved ALOT of packing and driving and moving about (4 cities total). Being a well recognized name in luggage, I was still surprised when it arrived and I was able to feel the strength and durability of the cases. The large one expands the additional 2" which turned out to be VERY handy. Even though we didn't bring the whole set with (leaving the larger bathroom case due to luggage costs of the evil airlines!) we still had MORE than enough room to pack for two weeks for two people and still have enough extra space to pack in additional junk we bought for people along the trip. I did see some of the other reviews about the zipper and handle being cheap or breaking. We weren't exactly easy on our luggage and did not have this issue, however I did notice that the handle seemed a bit flimsy when fully extended, but everything held up great!

Pro's:

Travel tote can double as a large bathroom bag and fits enough for two or more people easily.

The larger 26" rolling case is expandable by another 2", handy when you buy too many knick-knacks!

Strong bottom handles makes lifting into the car trunk a snap.

The adjustable locking handles on the 22 & 26" rolling cases have two height settings, good for people of different heights to easily pull along.

Add-on straps on the tops of the rolling bags allow you to put more luggage on wheels for easier walking with all your luggage.

Cons:

The add-on straps on the 22 and 26" roller suitcases are positioned a bit too far back, causing them to easily shift weight and flop over while walking if your not careful. (This could be how some other people managed to break theirs on their first use?)

The shoulder strap on the duffel was quite flimsy and not padded, causing it to be uncomfortable on your shoulder when fully packed.

So one year later and now the handles on BOTH of the suitcases have broken! One broke in the extended position (while at the airport no less!) and the other one wont extend at all anymore, effectively reducing their transportability to almost nil... Let me tell you that having to drag your suitcase by the strap while walking in a half bent position when returning from an exhausting trip is NOT FUN! It's even worse when the smaller suitcase decides to crap out while your dealing with the large one. The suitcases worked excellent while they did work. I even took the liner out of the inside to see if I could fix it and the entire handle assembly had cracked on the larger one. The smaller suitcase handle assembly is jammed in a half extended position with the little pop-up buttons that lock it into place no longer retracting when you push the handle button thing in to raise/lower the handle.

Essentially, these two issues have rendered both suitcases completely useless and we will now have to replace them. Very sad since they were so great when they had worked in the beginning. Because of this, I have changed my rating from 4 stars to 2. If you don't mind replacing your luggage every 1-2 years, it's a great deal... but if your looking for something to last awhile, look somewhere else.

Voodoo Tactical Level III MOLLE Compatible Assault Pack

I purchased this item and thought it was a good bag for the price. I was very wrong. The inside material and stitching is not good at all. The first month I had it I noticed the stitching was pulling through the material and tearing it apart. Also, the fluid protective barrier is crumbling and falling apart. It's not worth the money I paid and the material is garbage. The only upside to this pack is that the straps are very tough but very hard to adjust. Buy something else.

I normally buy backpacks from wal-mart/target, and they last me 1+ years for under 30$. I bought this thing for $70-ish so that I could wear it with my ACUs. It lasted me about 3 months before the straps started tearing off and it started getting holes in the bottom. I've actually been using it less intensely than normal high school backpacks because I no longer have to carry all of my books every day.

It was fun at first, but turned into a major disappointment. I've been sewing up the straps every 2-3 weeks, but it seems that the design of the weight distribution mechanics is just off. I'm trying to get a refund, but it's looking extremely hopeless.

On the good side, its extremely roomy, it really extends far out and extremely adjustable. I would buy it again, just never from Voodoo Tactical.

I purchased my FIRST tac.bag in April of 2011 and within 3 months, as with other people in these product reviews, the shoulder straps started to fail miserably. After a time, Captain Dave's finally sent me a replacement for the defective product.

However, as I'm sure some subconscious part of my brain told me, the same lower shoulder strap seam began to fail. Also, other parts of the bag have begun to fall apart, like the fine threading around zippers. This is just continuing to prove that this isn't the best, rugged backpack I was lead to believe. Both of my bags were only used for school purposes and were never treated in a rough or harsh manner.

So hopefully Capt. Dave's will send me another replacement, or finally refund the $95 that I spent on this, frankly, poor excuse for military gear.

Looking at this bag online may look like it won't hold all that much (as I suspected) but I was pleasently mistaken. Lots of room and pockets available in a very sturdily constructed bag. If you pack your gear properly and organized you will find it hard to fill. Straps are wide and comfortable, of course too much weight will get heavy after a while as this bag doesn't have a frame, but for general hiking or use as a bug out bag, it works well!

eBags Packing Cubes - 3pc Set

These are great packing cubes. I purchased the grasshopper color to compliment my Eagle Creek packing cubes. The material and the dimensions are slightly different than the Eagle Creek but I use both interchangeably. The mesh is great for both seeing whats in the cube and breathability. I recommend packing cubes to anyone using carry on luggage and/or wanting to be organized. I use the medium sized cube packed in an Osprey Backpack for an entire weekend away. I have been using various packing cubes for a number of years. I ordered these as a great way to have a color-coded bag system. At the time of the order I was very frustrated due to lack of data--I was suspicious that the "large" was too big, but I could not see enough product information to tell.

I have just received two sets of these. The "large" is VERY large. You would need to have a VERY large suitcase to make this a logical way to pack, and by putting many different things into one of them, you lose the entire benefit of organization. The other two are the correct sizes and are "ok", but not of the quality of Eagle Creek or Rick Steves (which I didn't expect) or Target--which I was hoping for. If they were all usable sizes, I would keep them, because they would probably do the job adquately.

I will sadly be returning them if they don't charge a big return fee--I really wanted "grasshopper" and "red"!

In general, the correct sizes of packing cubes are the most efficient way to pack! I didn't try them when they first came out because I was afraid I would "lose" all those edges and spaces in between where I could put so much, but the cubes have worked out incredibly well for moving about. It may be less important if you are only going to sleep in one place, but I still use them for that as well because I can organize tops, pants, undies, etc. (and they stay nicely folded). I can still put a few things things in between (like flip-flops, etc.). They also work to compress if you overfill the cube, press down, and pull the zipper closed--You can probably compress an inch if the bag is well packed.

For moving about--there's nothing to match it. No searching for anything--it's all in it's own small "drawers". And going home is so simple; empty as many as it takes and pack your dirty clothes in those and combine clean things. At home, all you have to do is take the correct cubes to the laundry room and sort! Seminar over...

As a well-seasoned traveler of many years, I first started using the Luggage packing solutions by eagle and others. Big Bear 78

I've taken this pack out on several backpacking trips, and Im not really impressed. The good thing about this pack is the size of the internal compartment. Having a little Bigger size means having more options. At 78 liters you can pack this pretty tight with everything you're going to need for a multi day trip. I was able to pack fairly generously and never felt like i was missing anything. I also like the separate sleeping back access zipper. It made getting to your gear a little easier when it was time to set up camp. The hydration pocket is more than adequate for a 3 liter bladder.

Now for the cons. First, the shoulder straps are woefully inadequate for carry more than 30 pounds over anything more than flat terrain. I carried this pack with 50lbs up a 4000 footer and my shoulders paid dearly. The padding is just too thin to support any kind of heavy load. Secondly, I simply could not balance the load. Rock scrambles with an unbalanced load added to the challenge of the climb, and on the descent, the strain on my neck and shoulders was substantial.

The external pockets are definitely lacking. Two side pockets are enough for a few small items, and the mesh pocket in the center of the pack is similar. Don't put anything in there you don't want exposed to the weather. There is also no place to lash down any external gear. The shock cords in the center of the pack can maybe manage small items like sandals or a light jacket, but I wasn't able to use it for much more than that. Also, I would like to have seen some pockets on the waistbelt for a tool, or GPS. There is a front compartment that is a fairly decent size but lack of front access to the main compartment meant having to fish through things if you needed any of your gear mid hike. Not a huge deal, but a bit of a hassle.

For serious backpacking, look elsewhere. For a little more money you can find a far better pack. For lighter uses, it serves the purpose just fine.

I took this backpack for a 2 week trip island hopping in the Philippines. Perfect size. I just wish there were 1-2 more pockets, but still much better than a suitcase to take on my trip.

I love it when a product stays mostly the same but the manufacturer adds the one or two small touches that you thought were missing from the original! Dora's Backpack Adventure (2002)

My son is a huge fan of Dora, and the material is great. Unfortunately the quantity of advertising at the beginning of this video is outrageous. I know that Ads at the start of a video are the standard, but over 10 minutes before the video starts on a child's video is outrageous. To wade through this much advertising to see the content they should give the video away for free. Yes, you can use the fast forward button every time your child watches, or you can record episodes easily direct from your own T.V. As this tape only contains two twenty minute episodes you won't have to work to hard to make your own comparable tape.

My 3 year old son is a diehard Dora fan. Recently he really started to pick up on the few Spanish words they have on the English DVDs and the television show. He was very excited to watch this video. I think it holds his attention even more than the others and his Spanish is skyrocketing. I wish the character's voices weren't so high pitched (seems to always happen in Spanish speaking programs all of the children have high voices) and that they spoke a little slower. But if your child watches Dora over and over, why not add a little Spanish?

We didn't realize how much our daughter liked Dora until our local cable company dropped "Nick Jr." programming, when she was 8 mo. old. At age 15mo. she saw Dora's picture at a bookstore, and thereafter would ask us, "D-D-D-Dora". Anything an 8 mo. baby remembers that long must be good.

So we got the Prince video, and the only problem is our tolerance for r-r-r-repeat showings.

We really like the clear language used, the repitition, the sort of "normal" fantasies (as opposed to sensory overload action/sound), and the Spanish inclusion. If they'd do the same stories with Chinese inclusions (or French, etc., etc.,) that would be great.

Our great objection is the 7 minutes of senseless advertisements at the beginning of the tape. When will Americans wake up and object forcefully to the invasive carcinoma that is excessive commercialization of society?

Olympia Luggage Sports Plus Rolling Shopper Tote

I was very disappointed with this item. It can not stand up by itself it has to lean against something. The handles do not snap into place so that they can stay up when rolling. I had ordered a floral color and received a zebra pattern. The wheels make noise as you roll down the street. Never again will I purchase this item and will not recommend it to anyone. Olympia needs to upgrade to fit the needs of the purchasers.

The space is great and it's so much easier to carry my school books. But it already ripped because the zebra one is plastic and so it's not as durable as a cloth on. I would recommend getting the cloth shopping tote if you need it to last you longer then a few months.

Timbuk2 Amnesia Laptop Backpack

I've had this backpack for a few weeks now and it was great both for flying across the Atlantic and for everyday use at the university. The organizer within the lower pocket is sufficient for me, with slots for three pens/pencils plus another four smaller pockets for erasers, wallet, phone, keys, whatever, and then one big zippered pocket.

In other reviews of Timbuk2 bags I'd read about there being some weird foam roller thing in the bottom of the laptop compartment which made it so that your laptop would have to go in the pocket in a certain way or else it would be uncomfortable. Fortunately this design is absent from the Amnesia bag, and I've been able to throw my 13" laptop in there any which way and it is always perfect, even when biking.

The smaller top pocket is padded so you could also put your cell phone or other electronics in there without worrying about it getting scratched up.

The water bottle holder easily fits a 32 ounce Nalgene bottle, which is very handy. Some might like to have more than one bottle holder but for me, this is just fine.

The helmet lops seem to work great too and I don't really worry about my helmet (or bike lock) coming out.

The bag is very comfortable, even when I put in my laptop, a nice big 800 page textbook plus two smaller books, a cable lock for my laptop, a notebook, pens, pencils, etc. with still plenty of room to spare for a light jacket, lunch, or whatever.

Overall I'm very impressed with the bag, and I expect to have it for a long time. Nice job, Timbuk2!

---UPDATE 1-20-2013 ---

While reviewing something else I saw this one again and thought I'd update to say that now, 8 months later, the bag is still in great shape and holding up exceptionally well. Still no complaints here!

I've used the Timbuk2 for about 2-weeks now, including as a commuter bag during riding my bike to work and now as a commuting bag to the airport for a three day trip. The fit is nice. It would be nicer with a waist strap. The front pockets are pretty good with inside and outside pockets to secure items. I did not use the helmet straps but they seem robust and would work well. the color and material is nice as well. Finally the laptop pouch is great. I have a 15" Lenovo that fits perfectly and it holds it secure and because it is separate of the main chamber it allows maximum filling of the pack as a whole.

Unfortunately on the way to the airport, the pack strap broke threads pulled out of the adjustable ring attach point on the right shoulder. there was no abuse that caused this nor was this because I overloaded the bag. the threads must not have been terminated properly and they pulled out. I am glad I had already shouldered it on my left arm as I would have possible caused damage to my laptop. So be sure to inspect the threads/sewing on the straps where they attach to the adjustable rings give them a pull and make sure it doesn't come undone!

Well Ive been using the bag for two days commuting 6 miles each day with it. It hold my tennis shoes, laptop, textbooks, pens and pencils, and my flat kit. I love this pack, it stays incredibly steady while riding and distributes the weight very well. Its light and comfortable as all get out. Plus the blue matches my bike haha. THe bottle opener is awesome as well. THE WATER BOTTLE POCKET DOES HOLD A NALGENE!! this pack is one of the few Ive found that actually fits a nalgene bottle. I would highly reccomend this to anyone who bike commutes. its amazing.

I bought this bag to replace my Timbuk2 Superbad pack. I loved how spacious it was, but the straps were killing me. I attend University and have some heavy books and have to tote my computer around a lot. So I was looking for some more padding. I looked at various other brands, but I am really fond of Timbuk2 for their durability and materials.

I bought the Amnesia Daypack and have been using it for a little less than a week and its excellent so far. The straps are padded sufficiently, it might not seem like they are when you first put it on or touch them but its just the right amount. The padding on the back is EXCELLENT. I can carry my French book, 5 subject notebook, three or four smaller books, my laptop and a jacket comfortably.

This pack is very tall! It might be uncomfortably tall for some. I'm about 5'6" (female) and have a long torso and it is fine for me. This is great because you can put things on top of your books (like workout clothes and other things.

A note about the laptop compartment-you can only access it from the side zipper. So far I haven't had any problems with the zipper slipping but it could be since it zips up and not down. You can not put the laptop in from the main compartment, but I don't find this to be an issue. The pencil pouch at the top, if filled, can make the laptop sag a little. The helmet loops are great for attaching even a heavy lunchbox. The velcro pocket fits a Macbook Pro charger comfortably without gouging out too much.

Overall, excellent backpack! 5/5 stars, can't think of anything to change. Feel free to comment with questions and I'll try to answer.

I've had the Timbuk2 Amnesia backpack for a little over a year now (since December of 2011) and I have to say I'm a bit disappointed. After only one year of use at university carrying minimal weight the majority of the time, it is fraying on the right side. The stitching on the water bottle holder is also coming undone and it now has a small hole in the seam. The "rubbery" coating on the bags interior is also peeling off. For what I paid and Timbuk2's supposed reputation, I expected it to stay in better shape.

My main gripe with this bag is its lack of pockets. Not including the internal computer sleeve, it has one front organizer pocket, the small top pocket, and the interior itself. I rarely put things in the actual organizer panel within the front pocket, save maybe a few pens. I find everything else is hard to reach, especially given the bag is floppy and falls over constantly. I usually just drop things in there, as the side zip and velcro flap make using this as anything but a stash pocket annoying. I like the top pocket for keeping pens and things; it is easy to reach with the bag next to you, although the bags inability to stand up on its own sometimes spills the top pocket's contents everywhere.

The bag has a side-access laptop pocket, which is well-padded. I like it very much, although as someone who is handicapped, the side zipper is more annoying than helpful. It also has a fabric sling in the bottom which keeps your computer from hitting the floor when you drop the bag. Other than these pockets, the bag is one huge bucket. For some people this may work, but for me, it means I have to fight with my things. Once I load the bag up with school books and binders, the only space left is above them. I can lay things on top to fit more in the pack, but then I have to pull all those things out to reach my books. I would have preferred two sections to put things in.

Otherwise, this is a nice bag. The laptop compartment is nice, the straps and back padding are comfortable, and the addition of a bottle opener on the strap is neat. I haven't really used the "ears" because I don't need them, but they stay shut nicely and do not get in the way unused. I just dont think Timbuk2 quality is what it used to be, and I hear they have since moved their production out of the US, which is sad. Timbuk2, thanks for the nice bag, but I will be buying my next one from a real "Made in the USA" company.

Overland Equipment Special Edition Bayliss Bag

This is a great bag. I hate digging in my purse and now I don't have to! There is a place for everything. My credit cards/insurance cards fit great and snug. I don't have to worry that they are going to fall out. I was able to downsize considerably from my bulky shoulder purse. The color is a moss green (which I prefer)...not GREEN! like the picture shows. You can check out the Overland Equipment website for more accurate color pics.

March 2013 update: I still love this bag. I emptied it and gave it a good cleaning a few months ago and it cleaned up nicely and looks as good as new.

This is a great little travel bag. It is too small to be an everyday purse for me but is perfect for traveling. I am planning to use it during a trip to Disney World. I have packed everything I plan to take with me in the parks and it seems that everything will fit with a bit of extra room left over. I think it would also work great for a small bag to take on hikes or bike rides. I mainly wanted this bag for the versatility of it being a shoulder/hip bag. I prefer to use it as a shoulder bag but am sure that in the August heat I will be glad that I have the option of using it as a hip bag also. The front compartment closes with two strong magnets. I was surprised by how secure the magnets seemed. There are lots of great organizing pockets. I love the felt pockets in the middle for my phone and sunglasses. Now I do not need to carry a bulky sunglass case. I only have two complaints. The first is that the biggest compartment only has the patterned design on one side. The other side is white. I don't really understand why they didn't put the beautiful pattern on both sides of the larger compartment. Not a huge deal though. Second, as a hip bag the belt does not get small enough to actually stay on my waist. It is much to big. I solved this by putting a small knot and then fastening it. Not ideal but again not a huge deal. Otherwise it is a great little bag and I am very happy with my purchase.

I'm sure this is a nice bag for some people. However, it was WAY too small for me. (And I really like small bags!) Beware that the color on the screen is NOTHING like the color of actual item the bag is a sad very light green. The inner lining's pattern is so busy I had a hard time looking at it even for the short time to check the bag out. That said, the construction seemed like it was quite good, and the straps and structure of the bag looked as though it could eaily be carried comfortably in a variety of ways. I wanted to like this bag, but I had to return it between the sad color and busy inner print, it just wasn't going to work.

This bag has been great for hitting the trail with the kids. I can carry the basics (license, bank card, chapstick, cash, keys) and tons of extras (snack bars, tissues, sunglasses, small juices, hot wheels/matchbox cars).

This is the perfect size for my 2 1/2 year old. She needed a bigger backpack that fit her school folder in addition to her pillow,blanket and breakfast. Ogio Renegade RSS Laptop/Tablet Backpack

Just bought the bag and have now been using it for a week. I won't say that I absolutely love the bag and in some ways it actually has disappointed me. But I have it three because it fullfill about 70% of my requirements.

But, before I head on to the actual review of the bag let me share with you what I use the bag for and what is important for me in a bag. I generally travel over 30 weeks in a year and often internationally.

Hence I am in and out of the airport a lot. I wanted a bag which would

a. Looks professional

b. Had enough space to put all I wanted in an organised way.

c. Light weight and comfortable to carry.

I usuall carry the following in my bag: -

Always in my bag...

1. My 15inch IBM Thinkpad

2. Charger : Iphone, Ipad, Laptop

3. Webcam

4. Two large note books.

5. My passport, and travel cards

6. A toilette kit with toothpaste, deo, mouth wash and some hand lotion (I travel internationally a lot so need it after long flights)

7. My sun glasses

8. A pack of 50 visiting cards

9. Bose Noise cancelling headphone

10. My house & car keys

11. Bottle of water

Occasionally, I'll carry

11. A neck pillow when I fly.

12. A Mac book air.

I wanted a bag which could fit all the above items. I also like to keep my items segregated based on how often I access them and how fragile they are. So it's important that the bag has amlot of pockets. For example, I will keep my passport in a separate pocket to protect it and keep it hidden away.

My budgets for the bag was around 200$.

I researched a lot of bags, before I decided on this one.

1. Thule 32L Crossover.

2. Boa Flow

3. Samsonite Pro 3 laptop Backpack

4. Brenthaven a bit pricy.

5. Ivar Pilot Backpack

What I like about the bag.

1. There are a lot of pockets. More pockets that most bags.

1a. There are 2 side pockets on each side. i.e. 4 in total, all of them have zippers.

The ones on the bottom have mesh (see through) and can store a bottle of water when un zipper. These pockets are not too large. i.e. they are big enough to store a passport with not enough depth to store a laptop charger. I use one for my passport and the other for my Ipad and Iphone charger.

1b. Then there are three pockets in front of the bag, one main compartment and another one on the top to keep your sunglasses.

2. Quality of Zippers is good, which is very is what gives away in most bags. They are big and hence are less likely to jam

3. The size of the bag is enough to put everything that I mentioned above.

4. The quality of the workmanship is great. You can say it looks expensive, and sporty.

What I do not like about the bag:-

1. Too much padding:I know padding is important in a bag, but I think RSS has overdone it. The RSS feature (padding) in the bag, which cannot be removed which makes it heavier and making it looks bigger bloated up compared to the actual space it offers.

2. The side wall and the back of the bag are rigid. The bad is rigid because of a thick plastic sheet and a whole lot of padding. I think it is unnecessary and adds considerable weight to the bad.

3. The shoulder straps have probably the least amount of padding I have seen. It is ok if you have a light bag and carrying it for 15 minutes. However, if you have a full bag and walking from one terminal to another on Chicago internationally airport, you can feel it digging into your shoulders.

UPDATE ( 23th Sep '12)

I have now owned the bag for a couple of months and have travelled for work to Europe and Asia.

There are two issues that I find negative about the backpack...

1. It is heavy ! It is atleast 2 times as heavy as other packpacks with similar capacity. When you are moving around the airport, you can feel it digging into ur shoulders. Reason why it weighs so much is because it is very heavily padded, so match that it is over done.

2. The buckles which control the extension of the straps is loose. It will automatically extend to the fullest extension, if you generally carry you backpack on one strap. What is even more annoying is that when it is fully extended, it takes a while to tighten it.

These are the two reason, why after using the backpack for 2 months, I am giving up and moving to some lighter ones..

First off, I am apparently not the typical bag-buyer. Price was probably one of the least of my concerns, functionality was the most important. For the last 4 or 5 years I've been through 2 or 3 Ameribag ballistic laptop backpacks. The factory in Barbados closed and they don't seem to make them anymore not even shown on their site so when the last was looking a little worn, I started looking for the next bag. I need to say that the lifespan of those bags was not indicative of anything wrong with the bags: I travel a lot, to some rough places, and my bags take a beating, so 2 years for me with a bag would be very rare. Those bags were great fit my 17" MBP with no issue, plus lots of stuff nice big mesh pocket inside the front, large document filing area, zipper pocket at the very front for shoving loose change before airport checkpoints, and more. In fact, many of my complaints about the OGIO are based on the things that I miss.

I'd never heard of OGIO, but saw someone with one in an airport and thought it looked good, noted down the brand and looked it up a few days later. As far as I'm concerned, it's the same product from different retailers Amazon had the best price so went ahead and ordered.

First off, the other review is entirely correct the bag will not fit a 17" MBP. Within about 5mins of getting the bag and trying, out came a sharp knife. I cut the stitching that held the laptop sleeve just below the neoprene sock absorber. Some might think that was a bit drastic, but I was traveling the next day and really needed it to work. My laptop lives in an Incase sleeve anyway, so there was no real loss of padding for me there is still some padding at the bottom of the bag, plus the sleeve. A month in, and about 10 flights later, no issues.

What I was looking for was lots of exterior compartments, and that's the bag certainly has. The sunglass pocket is my first aid pocket, the top right is a CPR mask, etc. The main interior compartment is large and I've had 3 x 3TB hard drives plus associated cables in there, the smaller one in front contains a bunch of ziplock bags with various items, and the very front one, well, that's a bit of a problem.

The "stash" pocket in there is so small I can't even put cash or anything in there. The zippered one wouldn't even do for spare change. There's nowhere to put documents nothing like the full size compartmentalized filing system on the Ameribag. A big mesh pocket on the unused interior of the flap in here would have made a world of difference. Right now, I'm either having to stuff receipts and the like just loose in here or in the top left exterior pocket. Not being able to file papers without folding them or risking getting them crushed by other items is probably the biggest issue I have with this bag. Finally, I really miss a very simple thing a small tab with a clip on the end which I would always attached key rings to inside of the front compartment. This is being done now by the water strap in one of the mesh pockets, but it jangles and is a bit annoying.

The adjusters on the main straps slip. Not badly, but a brisk walk through Miami airport and they're at the end of their travel. The sternum strap is a waste of time kept riding up as there's nothing to keep it at a given heigh, and then one side of it popped off its guide rail after less than a week.

The bag looks great, and really does hold loads of stuff. Would I recommend? Depends on what you're doing. I do love it and am considering getting someone to sew in the modifications that I would like, but I think I'll do a little more looking around before my next bag purchase to see if I can check off on the missing items.

I am a fan of gadget inspired backpacks. With all of the cool devices that are now available to the typical business traveler you really need to reconsider how you are going to stow all of your devices. Backpacks designed more than 10 years ago were designed to store camping gear and not much else. About 5 years ago, we saw the first of the packs that were designed to carry laptops (the highly successful Victorinox is the one that comes to mind first and you still see them everywhere). Over the last couple of years a new wave of designs has entered the market they are less interested in storing camping gear but well equipped for allowing easy access to a variety of your electronic gadgets.

In my opinion, the Ogio Renegade is the best of the newly designed gadget backpacks. It offers a decent level of protection, it is comfortable to wear, but most importantly it also provides many levels/layers of storage based on the size of the items that you are trying to store.

Notes-

The laptop storage area provides a wedge of support that encompasses you computer. It is especially, effective in supporting your laptop if you backpack is dropped straight down (like when you remove it from your back and sit it on the floor).

The design fits nicely under the seat on an airplane. This may not seem like a big deal, but trust me... it is. When you pack does not fit snuggly under the seat it causes you to lose precious leg room (and possibly exposes you to ire of the flight attendants).

It is very comfortable to wear the area supporting the laptop also provides a firm but gentle support for your back.

The exterior is rip, tea, and snag resistant.

Has a built in sunglass pocket/box that offers a crush-proof compartment for sunglasses or anything that is breakable.

The entire backpack does not have an exoskeleton or any type of rigid frame but the pack seems to be fairly resistant to collapse, and I have not had any problem with anything being damaged inside.

I do wish that there were more internal storage pockets inside the individual layersI would like to have small netted pockets to store things like batteries, medicine, and other small items. The Ogio Renegade does have a few of these types of pockets, but I wish it had a few more.

Final VerdictThe Ogio Renegade is the best blend of comfort, storage, and build quality that I have found in business travel backpack. it may be significant overkill for a middle-schoolers but it has worked perfectly for all of my business travel

I now own 4 OGIO products. I have two other backpacks as well as a duffle bag. One of the other backpacks I own is one of their skate backpacks. At the time I wanted something compact, now that it has been a few years my needs have changed.

This backpack is the best I have seen from them. If you own a lot of technology and have a need to carry it with you this is the backpack to get.

The backpack is not too heavy, there are more pockets than I know what to do with, and plenty of space in the main compartment, and tablet compartment for books and supplies.

Basically if you have owned anything made by OGIO before, you know it is a quality product and will last years. This is another example, including all the bells and whistles. For someone who is always on the go and owns a lot of technology, or just needs the space for other things, I highly recommend this product.

I had the large predecessor to this bag for several years and the zippers finally gave out. I read the reviews carefully before buying this one. One of things I liked the most about the last bag was that it had 3 top compartments, but this one only has one. The top compartments are extremely handy for glasses, calculators, electronics. I think the reason they cut down to one on the Renegade was to make the bag more compact. The base is not as large at the base and it is easier to get into overhead bins on planes. What they lost in the top compartments they made up for with the side pouches. There are four side pouches that are extremely functional and are padded. I carry a PC power supply, camera, glasses cleaning gear and financial calculator in these. The laptop slot has moved from the side to the top which is more convenient. It is large, well padded and very secure. The middle storage pouch is very large. I carry project documentation, binders and headphones with no problem. This pouch keeps its size as opposed to bags that look as if they have many useful compartments, but compress to nothing when you start to load them. The next compartment forward has a pouch for electronics and has enough room for my various chargers, headsets, etc. The final forward front pouch has the pencil/pen pouches and slots for business cards, etc. This area probably shrank the most, but it is adequate. I carry too much stuff since this backpack is my mobile office, but I get everything in it and it is a great looking bag. There is enough room to do an overnight with a change of clothes, etc. One of the comments I saw in other reviews that I agree with is the inadequacy of the straps. If you load the bag the straps are not as wide or comfortable as they should be if you are hiking end to end at Denver International. But having used the bag for months and already put a lot of miles on it, I would not trade for any of the other bags I've had and there have been many. In comparing to many other bags in stores and online, it is apparent to me that the Ogio designers are giving a lot of thought to the real issues of how to build a backpack that is actually functional, does not have wasted unusable space and provides storage that is easy to access and organize.
