Maxpedition Rollypoly Backpack
The Maxpedition Rollypoly Backpack (mine is black) is a great value as a light duty day pack. The construction is first rate, the materials are strong yet lightweight, and the whole thing rolls up into a very compact form. I used mine during a weeklong trip to DisneyWorld in Florida in October, and it never let me down, accommodating all the ancillary stuff we needed for full days in the parks without adding extra bulk or standing out as inappropriately "tactical", even in black. Note that the shoulder straps are also minimalist, so you won't be able to comfortably carry really heavy loads, but that's not the intended purpose of this bag, and I think Maxpedition made the right trade offs between sturdiness, comfort, and light weight. In it's intended use as a light weight day pack the shoulder straps are perfect.I highly recommended the Maxpedition Rollypoly Backpack.

I commute with bike, rain or shine. Usually no bags, I pretend I do not need them. Then I stop to get a cup of coffee or something, and see a book I want, few magazines I end up buying even I really don't need them, buy some fruit or socks or some chocolate that were in sale and I just had to get those... out comes the RollyPoly.I only wish it was a little bigger. Well, twice the size really, so I could roll up my heavy leather jacket in it, or fit my 3/4 sized large helmet in it. Then it would be just perfect. Still I do like my tiny backpack, and have it attached to my handlebars or on the sidestrap of my jacket, just in case. And those cases come up every now and then. Ended up getting one for my friend too, he saw mine in action, compared to his clunky tank-bag and was sold.
Beautiful product even on the small side, then again it does fold in small too, nice and neat, and rugged enough for my abuse. Yes, one can get cheap backpacks for kids for a few bucks from your local *mart, but not quite the same thing. I'm keeping mine and looking forward for bigger versions!

This is a review for the 14 Inch Widescreen black color model.First the good:
1. Relatively compact size in width and depth.
2. Zippers are sturdy and move smoothly without binding.
3. Two compartments. One for laptop and another for accessories, pencil/pen, and other related items.
4. Outer compartment has zip, but is configured as two pockets.
5. Back pocket for magazine/newspapers.
6. Strap is 1.5" wide and sturdy like a seat belt. It is attached with a metal hook and firmly cross-stitched on the other side. This is generally hard to find on more inexpensive bags.
Now the bad:
1. It is snug for a 13.3" thin laptop like a MacBook Pro and would be hard to squeeze in a standard 14" Dell or HP.
2. The pockets don't expand and the zipper does not go down the sides at all, the zipper ends a couple of inches from the top on both sides.
3. A 13.3" MacBook Pro in a sleeve is a bit snug, but will work; however, with accessories in the 2nd compartment, like the power adapter, a couple of short cables and papers makes this bag hard to use.
4. It is more ideal for a netbook or a 12" thin laptop.
5. There is no room for expansion.
Finally, this would have been the ideal bag, had it been been able to expand about an inch in width and depth. Perhaps the 16" version would be more appropriate for a 13" or 14" laptop.
This is just about the most perfect laptop bag I've owned.
The bag is perfectly designed and built to an exceptionally high quality standard.
Here are the details:
The bag, when closed, is about 16 inches long, 12 inches high, and 4 inches deep. When closed, it looks like a little cubic rectangle, with very clean lines. It has one adjustable shoulder strap about three inches wide made out of the same stuff that a car seatbelt is-very sturdy. What people may not appreciate about this-but which I do-is that because it is made of this seatbelt material (which is flexible, but not TOO flexible), the shoulder strap KEEPS ITS SHAPE and doesn't fold over on itself and thus bite into your shoulder. On the other hand, it is soft and flexible enough that it doesn't hurt, either--you know, kind of like a seatbelt! It is just COMFORTABLE when you carry it. The shoulder strap is actually sewn to the body of the case in a large square pattern. What this means practically is that the cord doesn't flip upside down or get tangled. Everyone has had that one terrible bag that no matter how you carry it on your shoulder, the strap twists around, then the bag twists around, and everything is just so uncomfortable that you have to put all your effort into carrying the bag rather than anything else you might want to carry. Frustration! This bag doesn't do that! The strap is so well-designed that the bag sits on your shoulder and stays there very comfortably with no extra effort on your part.
When the bag is closed, there is one visible pocket on the outside (on the side closest to your body) which seems designed for folders or one or two notebooks. This is mighty convenient, since most of us still have paper documents that we need sometimes.
On the other side is where you open the case. This technology is a great improvement over any other closing device I've seen! Let me explain.
There is a flap of cloth-well, not exactly cloth, but like a heavy-duty, cross-stitched nylon-about 15" x 12". It has two medium magnets sewn inside which attach with two other magnets sewn into the body of the bag. These magnets are strong enough to hold the bag closed, but light enough to open easily. THERE ARE NO MOVING PARTS TO BREAK! THERE IS NO ANNOYING VELCRO!!! It's great. Just pull on the flap and the bag is open.
Inside the bag, there are three main compartments, each with zippers. Each compartment is the length of the bag, but differs in width. The first and largest is for the laptop itself. It will fit a 16" laptop. This compartment is well-padded, and is lined with mesh in order to wick away heat and keep the laptop cool. Great innovation. Genius!
The second compartment is smaller and not as heavily padded. Within this second compartment there is a flap of nylon that separates the compartment into two. The nylon flap itself has a zipper and can be used to store stuff. Sewn onto the outside of nylon flap are two smaller compartments, each with velcro. They are about the size of an iPhone or a cell phone, and seem designed for this purpose. In between these two compartments are loops for pens or pencils. In the near part of this two-compartment section are two more loose mesh flap compartments, probably for computer peripherals. The main compartment itself is big enough for a power cord--which is what I use it for.
The third zippered compartment is the smallest of the three, sewn into the wall of the bag itself. This compartment is divided into two compartments by a vertical nylon thread. I am not sure what these two compartments might be used for, but they are totally separated from the laptop portion. In my mind, that means you might store stuff here that might hurt the laptop, such as coins or such, or just other stuff not related to the laptiop.
As far an negatives, I can really see only one. On the label of the bag it says that the bag comes with an "easy-grip handle"-and there seems to be a metal loop for it on the outside of my particular copy. However, when I received the bag, there was no handle! I don't know if this was an oversight or what, but I got no handle. However, to be honest, I haven't really missed it at all.
As far as functionality, the bag seems to make my laptop LIGHTER, if possible. Carrying the bag is very comfortable! To me that is absolutely key... and the Targus does the job.
So, to summarize: I am extremely happy with the well-thought-out design, the heavy-duty construction, and ease and comfort of use of the Targus Messenger Case, and would recommend it without reservation.

This is a great bag. The magnetic closure gets the bag closed quickly, which is always a plus for me. My 13" Macbook Pro fits nicely inside of the bag and is well protected.I like the way the bag looks. Sturdy material that's not shiny enough to see your reflection in. No ugly giant logos. No garish zippers. No weird pockets. No oddly shaped, useless, rubber lumps. I love that the fold-over flap connects to the bag by magnetic strips no fooling around with some stupid clip or obnoxiously loud Velcro. It also has a strap (which you can't see in the pictures) along the top, positioned towards the back which you can use to carry as a brief case. Has enough space to carry everything I need to work, albeit, I think it could have been a little more spacious. I had looked everywhere, locally, for a simple bag for my Dell XPS 14z. Any decent bags were $40 bucks on up. I wanted a messenger type bag with easy access and decent security. Im noel's daughter. I bought this bag to take with me to practice and because Im a huge yu-gi-oh fan and when I saw this I had to have it. When I got the bag it was in great shape, but the picture on the front was covered in black smudges and smears and bloches. When I contacted big and little I sent them pictures of the bag like they asked, but they never emailed me back. I sent them several emails of the picture and others asking about when I could send it back for a replacement, but I never heard from them after the first one. Its so bad looking Im too embarrased to take it outside the house. I still have the bag and the package it came in and I ordered it over 3 or 4 months ago. The bag itself is in great condition, but the look of it is embarrasing. I wish they would've emailed me back or done something about it and replaced it because now its just sitting on a chair in my room. This bag is gorgeous, high quality leather. There is one big problem, the straps on the back are too long. They cannot be adjusted to come anywhere close to fitting. I am 5 7", with long torso. If I were to keep it, I would have to take it to a leather shop and have the straps shortened and sewed. We bought this luggage for a two week vacation to Florida that involved ALOT of packing and driving and moving about (4 cities total). Being a well recognized name in luggage, I was still surprised when it arrived and I was able to feel the strength and durability of the cases. The large one expands the additional 2" which turned out to be VERY handy. Even though we didn't bring the whole set with (leaving the larger bathroom case due to luggage costs of the evil airlines!) we still had MORE than enough room to pack for two weeks for two people and still have enough extra space to pack in additional junk we bought for people along the trip. I did see some of the other reviews about the zipper and handle being cheap or breaking. We weren't exactly easy on our luggage and did not have this issue, however I did notice that the handle seemed a bit flimsy when fully extended, but everything held up great!Pro's:
Travel tote can double as a large bathroom bag and fits enough for two or more people easily.
The larger 26" rolling case is expandable by another 2", handy when you buy too many knick-knacks!
Strong bottom handles makes lifting into the car trunk a snap.
The adjustable locking handles on the 22 & 26" rolling cases have two height settings, good for people of different heights to easily pull along.
Add-on straps on the tops of the rolling bags allow you to put more luggage on wheels for easier walking with all your luggage.
Cons:
The add-on straps on the 22 and 26" roller suitcases are positioned a bit too far back, causing them to easily shift weight and flop over while walking if your not careful. (This could be how some other people managed to break theirs on their first use?)
The shoulder strap on the duffel was quite flimsy and not padded, causing it to be uncomfortable on your shoulder when fully packed.
So one year later and now the handles on BOTH of the suitcases have broken! One broke in the extended position (while at the airport no less!) and the other one wont extend at all anymore, effectively reducing their transportability to almost nil... Let me tell you that having to drag your suitcase by the strap while walking in a half bent position when returning from an exhausting trip is NOT FUN! It's even worse when the smaller suitcase decides to crap out while your dealing with the large one. The suitcases worked excellent while they did work. I even took the liner out of the inside to see if I could fix it and the entire handle assembly had cracked on the larger one. The smaller suitcase handle assembly is jammed in a half extended position with the little pop-up buttons that lock it into place no longer retracting when you push the handle button thing in to raise/lower the handle.
Essentially, these two issues have rendered both suitcases completely useless and we will now have to replace them. Very sad since they were so great when they had worked in the beginning. Because of this, I have changed my rating from 4 stars to 2. If you don't mind replacing your luggage every 1-2 years, it's a great deal... but if your looking for something to last awhile, look somewhere else.

I bought this bag after doing a ton of research. I called voodoo tactical.net, the official dealer and spoke with them. I asked if this bag was durable to hold up to field use. I am in law enforcement and wanted a bag that could take some some abuse and keep going. They assured me that the bag could hold anything you could fit into it and then some.So, I pulled the trigger and bought the bag. When it came I was so excited! it was large and contained massive storage compartments. The lay out of the bag was perfect and there was little to be desired from the overall design.So your probably wondering whats the problem?.....well, its was the materials. Its a shame too, because this bag had a lot of potential had the materials it was constructed with been better. On my very first day of packing the bag, the stitching came apart from the top main compartment. It tore so easily I was hocked. I hadn't even put on my bag under a load yet, and was nowhere near filling the bag up or over packing. Once it began to tear, it went like paper, making this bag useless. The Nylon is inferior to mil spec and doesn't come close to comparing. The solution? find a bag made from 900 Denier nylon. There is no substitute to good quality material and craftsmanship. This bag offered so much, but its like tricking out a two wheel drive truck with off road gear and accessories. Whats the point? compared to a 4-wheel drive truck its just not capable of doing the job.
I would recommend Flying Circle bags. They make some great bags out of 900 Denier Nylon, are waterproof, are genuinely mil spec, and cost less then this inferior bag. Flying Circle Bags even has a GS contract for govt. sales. They are the real deal.

I purchased a multi cam Voodoo Tobago pack for somewhere around 100 dollars thinking it was a good deal. Upon receiving it I immediately noticed design flaws. First the shoulder straps are narrow, flimsy, and filled with shipping material type padding. Also with a heavy load the shoulder straps lengthen on their own, and they do not quick adjust like most military packs. I had to rig the straps with zip ties and never adjust them. I used the pack for college. Within the first semester one shoulder strap was tearing at the seams so I secured it with green duct tape. By the end of the next semester the main compartment zipper seam was coming undone so bad I had to retire the pack. I asked Voodoo if they had any warranty and they blew me off. As a serviceman speaking from experience this pack is total garbage and is not even tough enough to stand up to normal civilian wear and tear. I liked the size of the bag, but almost immediately had problems with the zippers. A few of the zippers have to be opened very slow and carefully. The come off the track way too easily. The pack is excellent, excellent, excellent. I used it for my travels around SE Asia, Australia and NZ for a year. I literally lived out of this bag for a year. It has really convenient aspects and is 100% worth the price. It has an in-built clothes bag, waterproof pockets on the inside and a great waterproof cover which can be used to cover the bag when it rains.
