Picked up this backback as an emergancy replacement for an old PING duffle I was using after my morning shake decided to empty istelf all over the inside this morning, WHOOPS!

I decided to purchase a backpack and a seperate "wet" bag for my kickboard, pull buoy, etc.

Now to preface my review here I am an absolute bag snob. I used to skate, I used to and am now swimming, I ride motorcycles, I am into gadgets, and cameras, and video cameras, etc. etc. After acquiring the gear for all of these various activites I have learned what makes a good bag and what does not.

First and foremost for any bag purchase is comfort, position, and quality of the straps. If the strap breaks off then it doesnt matter how roomy or how many pockets a bag has. Thankfully this bag has you covered; an integrated grab handle, lightly gel cushioned straps with chest clips and a d-ring, a nylon waist strap with adjustable clip, and two seperate gel cushion for both the upper and lower back provide a comfortable and customizable fit for just about anyone. There is a "cellphone" holder integrated onto the chest straps but unless your rocking an oldschool nokia from the turn of the century then this pocket will most likely not fit your cell; especially any sort of smartphone or even a damn moto razor (to wide). I will most likely lobotomize this useless appendage as well as the waist strap which I appreciate but rarely use. One negative I can give the bag is the use of single stitching on the straps; from my days lugging around heavy skates I can tell you that double or even triple stitching is the way to go on backback straps but only time will tell if this will be a problem.

Secondary to the way a bag attaches to the user is the space and features it provides and here this bag falls terribly short. There is a divider in the main compartment but it cant fit a TYR kickboard so Im guessing its either for a laptop or just for seperation yet either of those features is unwarrented in a gym bag. The compartment for storing shoes comes up from the bottom via an externally accessible pocket and works as advertised however the goggles saver pouch and music player pockets described above do not. The pocket for the music player is a pocket inside a pocket with no grommet to feed your headphone cables through making it worthless, and why would you put an electric device into a pocket with wet goggles?? I would suggest using the cellphone pocket on the main straps but once again its to narrow for a modern ipoh touch, classic, iphone, zune, etc. although it might fit a nano. Hanging a suit from the caribiners would drag your garments across the floor behind you so, although they look useful for other things, I think the marketing department was more involved with their purposing then the engineering team. The last two pockets are on either side of the bag and can hold 2 bottle of water each however they are zippered pockets, why there is no drawstring style bottle holder is an absolute mystery to me.

All in all the bag is sufficiently large to dump your cheange of clothes into and force into a gym locker but I cant help but feel that TYR needs to release a version 3.0 to really make this bag worth it for your average swimmers day to day needs.

I have been searching for a Triathlon Transition bag for a while, but didn't want to spend anywhere near $100 and luckily I found this bag.

It doesn't have an over abundance of little pockets but I like that. The pockets it does have are large enough so you can really fit everything in there and not have to wonder where you put things.

I took it this weekend for a race and had the following inside with plenty of room: wetsuit, cycle shoes, running shoes, helmet, socks, towels (2x hand towel size), sunscreen (spray can and smaller one), electrical tape, body glide, nutrition, 4 water bottles, flip flops, spare tubes, air cartridges, and on the out side of the bag it has 2 clips where I attached my visor.

You can't ask more out of a transition bag.

Like others, I thought this bag was fantastic when I got it; the canvas and leather were nice, the bag was roomy, and overall it just looked great. I expected to take this bag on camping trips to come, but alas, it was not meant to be.

After two months of regular, non-rigorous use and handling, one of the shoulder straps ripped off. And thus, my adventures with this bag have come to an end. I really wanted to like this bag, but I was deeply saddened at how quickly it fell apart.

Also, for those who own this bag, keep an eye on the front buckles, as they may be accidentally pried off from the bag.

Hello Kitty Colorblock Backpack

My daughter who is going into second grade just got this today... and she loves it. It is a a little thin for the price so I am not sure how well it will hold up but it is light weight which is nice.

First, I'd like to say that this is hands down the most well crafted backpack that I've ever owned. It's rigid but still has enough give to be very comfortable. That being said, it's a photographers backpack and nothing more. If you're thinking that you can use this as a daypack or multipurpose backpack, you're sadly mistaken.

Pros:

Rigid structure, ridiculous amount of pockets, water proof covering, comfortable straps/backpadding, and well balanced.

Cons:

Bulky, lack of functional flexibility, loses some comfort when both Laptop compartment and Tablet compartment are in use.

Aquapac Waterproof Wet & Dry Backpack

I bought this backpack because I like to ride my bike to class at UK everyday, about 4 miles one way. After I had this backpack about a month it finally rained, and rained almost everyday for about 3 weeks. This backpack keeps my notes and books 100% dry even after my 25 minute bike ride.

There is another inner pocket, which is what made me decide to purchase this particular backpack. It is intended to separate your wet clothes from the dry if you decide to change. On the really rainy days, i was able to fit all my school stuff in the main compartment, with a spare pair of basketball shorts, underwear, fip flops, a shirt, and jacket all in the inner pocket. I'd get to class and change clothes in the bathroom. The inner pocket actually pulls out of the main compartment so i could easily put my soaking wet clothes without having to worry about them dripping on my notebooks.

There is also a back support piece that is removable and advertised to be used as a seat if you're hiking or something. While I haven't used it as a seat I do like how it keeps flat against my back and I don't get poked by textbook corners or anything.

I absolutely love this backpack and I am 100% satisfied. Check you tube for some other reviews too. If I had a laptop, I would trust this backpack enough to ride my bike in a downpour with my laptop inside without another case. Also it fits good and is highly adjustable.

I really like this backpack. Everything inside has been kept dry. It is good to put my laptop in along with workout clothes. The 2 inner pockets are nice. Wet clothing can be kept in the bigger pocket. The smaller pocket is good for keeping dry electronic devices, cables, etc. The straps are good and this is very comfortable to carry around. The overall design is very good.

It showed up on my doorstep in just a couple days along with the other bag. Choices choices I went with my other purchase and did not use this. But it is very well constructed and pretty roomy just not pretty. A guy would like it for sure, girls like me like a little more polish. Really nothing wrong with the bag other than that.

I am fully satisfied with this bag after using it for a month now.

Has enough compartments to hold a small bottle of water, snacks, books, a 13 inch MacBook Pro,

keys, etc.

If you have more than 3 heavy textbooks, then this is not for you. Might want to get a bigger bag.

I go to grad school and this works perfectly for me.

I have been hauling a 15" Mac, a 11" Toshiba, their power cords, at least 3 huge apples/oranges, a sandwich, wallet, pens, at least 3 or 4 notebooks and other assorted knick-knacks in this bag on foot for ~2.5 miles everyday to and fro from work for the past five months. It took sometime for me to get the adjustment of the straps right, but once I did, I could hardly feel the weight of all the stuff in the bag. The bag contours can be adjusted to fit very close to my back. So I can break into a jog and not have the contents rattle back and forth. The bag looks small even when filled to the brim, but it does fit in all my everyday essentials very easily. The colour (ember orange) is extremely visible which is what I was aiming for as I want motorists/cyclists to spot me easily. The bag has been through a bunch of rainstorms now and I am happy to report that it is fairly waterproof none of my stuff in the main or the side pockets were wet after walking 25 minutes in a fairly heavy downpour. Based on my ~5 month daily use, I would very highly recommend this bag for everyday commuting by foot or bike.

I work in an industrial facility that is large enough that running back and forth to my car is a hassle, so I bought this to be just big enough to bring some Tupperware/fast food containers, some magazines and some basic supplies with me.

I chose the orange color because I routinely ride my motorcycle to work and the people in WA state seem to have an aversion to looking before they make any move in a vehicle, so anything you can do to stand out helps (Because a loud piped, bright green crotch rocket just isn't visible enough on it's own).

The bag has held up very well over the last 3 years with the only wear being that the Osprey logo is starting to come off. I wash the bag about twice a year and hang dry it then waterproof spray it and it looks pretty much brand new.

I would buy another Osprey brand bag simply based on the performance of this bag. I have Camelbak, Ogio, Jansport and Drago brand backpacks and none get used as hard, or as often, as this little one.

This bag has a surprising amount of space and better organization than I expected. I found a water bottle that fits in the side pocket because a regular bottle sticking out of the pocket didn't feel very secure. I'll probably never use a bladder with it but the compartment works great for a tablet or netbook. There's a slot just above the ice axe holder that it can slip into so you don't have this big loop dangerously sticking out from the bottom of your pack. I probably won't be using an ice axe either.

The compression works great but I have to say it looks messy on the front. I got the limestone tan color and I imagine a darker color would look better (something that really doesn't bother me). The shoulder straps are very comfortable, I'll never use the chest strap so I wish it was removable. Fortunately the waist strap is, this pack is too small to need one in my opinion. I've found an idiosyncrasy in that it won't stay on if I'm just slinging it over one shoulder. I have to put both straps on if I want to carry it, or use the handle on top. I don't have that problem with any other pack I've owned so I'm assuming it's a characteristic of this bag. Maybe that's a safety feature in case you have an ice axe hanging from it.

Quality of materials and construction are as good as I've ever seen. The zipper pulls are the best ever. The mesh pockets inside are perfect. I really like this bag.

Kiva Luggage Compress-It Compressible Packing Cubes Set

I like these bags a lot. They do compress but the best thing about them is that they hold your items snugly and keep them from shifting around and getting wrinkled. They also remain pliable compared to the plastic compression bags which become rigid and are difficult to pack around. I did not over pack my case but the fabric around the zipper on the large pack frayed and came un-stitched. I simply sewed it back which reduced the overall capacity by a tiny amount but it is holding well. I had read reviews on other websites that the bags came un-stitched so was not surprised when it happened to me. Even with that, I would choose to purchase the item again. If you would be bothered by having to re-sew a bag, based on my experience and what I had read in other places, I would purchase a different bag. However, if you are fine with restitching a 2-4 inch section where the zippers come together, I would highly recommend this product. The method I used was hand sewing, rolling the fabric up against the zipper which provided more "bite" for the stress where the zippers came together. It took me 10-15 minutes and was very simple.

these are great compressable packing cubes. ive read reviews on other sites that complain about the quality of the zippers, but i haven't enountered a problem. the large cube is the most versitle...it can hold about 8 t shirts with no problems. the medium cubes are too small for shirts, but could be good for undergarments, socks, bathing suits, etc. i wish kiva would offer different configurations of this item. i would love to have at least 3 of the large cubes for my packing needs. kiva, if you are reading this, please offer a set of just the large cubes!

We used these on a recent trip to France. It has a zipper system to do the compression for space saving. They are small, socks, underwear, maybe t-shirts, & similar will fit. Mostly, I found the one I used to help with containment, as in keeping the stuff I stored in it neatly collected in one place. Plan to use again.

I own a set of 3 Rick Steves Packing Cubes which are very nicely sized and function well. I needed an additional set of packing cubes for my wife, however, and was attracted to the idea that the Kiva cubes had compression capabilities. And while the Kiva cubes function great as packing cubes, the compression capabilities are lacking.

The Kiva cubes are well constructed with solid sides and bottoms, along with mesh tops for viewing contents. The Kiva cubes dimensions are slightly smaller than the the Rick Steves version, but sizable enough to fit the desired amount of clothing. The cubes contain an additional zipper that wraps around the cube, which is designed to compress the cubes when closed. I found, however, that when the cubes are fully loaded, the zipper compression does not adequately compress the cube, and most of the time the compression zipper can't even close completely without fear of it breaking due to the strain. In the end, I didn't even bother with the compression zipper, and instead just treated the cubes like standard packing cubes.

I think Kiva should revisit their design if they want to create a compressible packing cube. Small side compression straps would function much better than the zipper system. I originally gave the product 4 stars because the packing cubes perform their main function well, but I removed a star because the compression system seems more gimmicky than useful. Given the higher cost and slightly smaller dimensions over the Rick Steves Packing Cubes, I would just as soon choose them over the Kiva Compression Cubes.

The compressible bag works well for sweaters, scarves, gloves and knit hats. The small size is perfect to throw into a purse or bag because it keeps the items together, prevents them from getting caught in keys, and makes it is easy to find when you need it. The compressible bag works less well for lycra items since those are already somewhat compressed by their nature. I found this particular pair of compressible bags a bit of a challenge with the zipper---I have a different set with a smoother zipper, but for some reason, the zipper on these snags. I needed to put my finger between the bag and zipper to get it working.

I wanted a lightweight bag that could carry my laptop and papers but could also be easily rolled up for packing, something you can't do with a conventional padded computer bag. I also wanted a strap long enough to go across my body and leave my hands and arms free. This bag fits the bill. The construction is good, and I like the outer zipper pocket and the net bottle carrier. Just what I was looking for. I wouldn't mind having it in a few different colors.

I bought this for my six-year old when the zipper on her backpack broke. She was insistent that she wanted a messenger bag I didn't want to spend a lot.

This bag fit the bill. It is not too big perfect for early elementary. It seems sturdy enough to take folders back and forth to school, with a little extra room for a change of clothes, etc., but not too big. If you are wanting to take more than two or three books home every day, you probably want a bigger back and a padded strap. This is definitely a light duty bag, but no more so than the cheap kiddie backpacks you find in the stores it is made of the same vinyl fabric.

It is very plain we bought some decorative iron-on patches and I ironed them on just place a thin towel over it all and iron on cotton setting. Now it is super cute and one-of-a-kind.

She has used it for two weeks now and no complaints so far!

Port Authority Basic Drawstring Backpack

These backpacks are the perfect size for a trip to the park or to use on a cruise for day excursions. Quality was very good and the reinforced tabs at the bottom keep the strings from pulling out due to weight.

I was actually looking to purchase canvas bags, but settled on these because of the price. We are using them for our girl scout troop outings. The bags won't be carrying anything too heavy other than a waterbottle. I can't imagine using it for school books as the material is very thin and I don't see the stitching as strong as a backpack my kids use for school. The color is awesome though and our petals are sticking well after ironing. The girls enjoyed decorating them as well. If you are just needing something to tool around in with a notebook, reading book, and a few other light weight items they will do the trick and work nicely. I wouldn't recommend as a replacement for a good school backpack. They are large in size and are huge on our 5/6/7 year olds. Size fits better for teens & adults. We adjusted the straps by tying a knot shorter on the drawstring and cutting off the excess.

STM dp-3103-01 Jet Large Laptop Backpack, Fits Most 17-Inch Screens, Black

I searched for a bag that had chest compression straps, an optional waist strap, and a laptop case. Many of them were very big and bulky bags.

This bag received a good review on a techblog on Yahoo.com.

The STM bag is very compact. There are a lot of compartments, but filling one often leads to less room in another.

For example:

* The bottom zippered pouch, which could hold your laptop charger, means there is less room in the bottom of the first zippered compartment

The medium bag can, at maximum, hold the following items:

* Macbook pro 15" + charger

* Ipad

* Cellphone / iphone + charger

* 2 notebooks (composition size)

* 2 paperback books or 1 moderate size hardcover book (don't try to fit a textbook or anything bulking in here the material has no stretch or give).

The biggest flaw is in the rain protection.

* The bag is made of a water resistant material.

* There is a small rain flap over the front set of zippers for the ipad compartment (which also holds pens and other items).

* However, there is NO SUCH flap over the second zippered compartment (the one that holds your laptop). Any rain or water, even a slight spill, is going to go right through the zipper and into the laptop compartment. This has happened to me twice, even in a light drizzle (and if you own a Macbook, it will void your warranty due to "water damage").

I ended up buying the STM branded rain cover (a silver bag that goes over the backpack). It hangs out in the bottom "laptop charger" compartment, and takes up even more room in the limited amount of room in the bag. This rain cover is a bit too bulky for the bag however it does stop rain from getting into that one zippered waterproof area.

So if you are a city commuter, using subways, buses, bicycles, don't take this bag out if there is a chance of rain you risk ruining your most valuable electronic possessions.

The bag is super durable. There are a lot of pockets and spots to put your stuff, and it is really well made. The iPad pocket is really nice and so is the laptop pocket. I thought my 17.3" laptop wouldn't fit because looking at the "interior dimensions" on the specifications page, my laptop was too big, but in reality, it fit perfectly and I'm really happy with this bag. I will say that there is not a ton of room if you plan on filling the thing with more than like three or four textbooks. But if you're a college student it's a perfect laptop bag because you won't need to carry more than one textbook at a time. Plus this is at a really good value, it's normally close to $100

If you're looking for a laptop bag to stuff full of books and other bulky items; this bag is not for you. If you need a bag that you can use on the go with all of your essentials this is an excellent choice. I highly recommend it.

I have (like many others) increasingly started to carry a laptop (Mac 15") and an iPad everyday. I use an extra sleeve to keep the iPad in place while keeping the laptop in it's slot. Additionally I also travel quite a bit and I have a large multi-day backpack with a laptop slot.

The day-to-day laptop back is starting to show it's age in terms of accommodating all these new gadgets and my travel back-pack is a too big to prevent all these gizmos from rattling around in the bag. The STM seemed to be the perfect middle ground solution and moreover Wired magazine had high praises for it

I have been using it for about a month now and I have also had the opportunity to travel with a couple of times and I'm happy with it overall. A few caveats though

1. It is NOT a jack of all trades. The bag is optimized to carry a laptop, a tablet and probably a few other accessories. It will be hard to use it as a general purpose backpack

2. It has a very nice and tight form-factor and there is absolutely no rocking or twisting as you walk through airports or flight aisles, a wonderful feeling, but it also means a lot of tradeoff with what you carry. After your laptop and tablet goes in, there is actually very little room for anything else more substantial. It's bit like playing whack-a-mole, stuff something up in the front pocket and you cant even put your hand down the back pocket

3. Last, the inner beading just below the zippers are too close to the zippers. This does not seem like a big deal, but in a such a tight-fitting back, I was constantly getting the zipper snagged in the beading if I wasn't careful

On the whole, despite these trade-offs, I still like the bag for what it is, but if you need a more general purpose back pack this is not a good option

Thomas and Friends Superstar Full Size Thomas Backpack - Thomas the Tank Engine School Bag

I received this bag on time and it was very neatly packaged. However, within 1 or 2 days of carrying this bag, with only a pair of shorts and a shirt in it, this bag started to come apart on the inside at the seams. I think that a bag, at this cost should have been more sturdy. I do not recommend this bag. It is not of durable quality...just pretty to look at. I am very disappointed with it and so is my 4 year old son for whom the bag was purchased.

My 6 year old son was thrilled with this backpack. It's the right size for a little one, but after only 2 months of use there are holes in the bottom and the top. He carries a plastic folder to school and the edges of the folder rubbed in a spot and now we've got holes. I've duct taped the heck out of it to keep it going longer as my son adores the backpack and I'd like to get a bit more use out of it, but I certainly wouldn't buy it again due to it's lack of durability.

Franklin Covey Full-Grain Leather Zip Top Laptop Tote

I am still trying to like this bag.

It has room for the lap top, Or the planner Or the wallet and lunch...but it is limited in it's width. I find it nearly impossible to fit the planner and wallet into the purse and zip it shut. When I had the planner, the wallet and the nook... zipping shut was not an option. I am disappointed in that regard.

If you don't have the nook, planner, wallet AND Laptop, this bag may be good. I am still trying to figure out how I can live with it...or without it?

It Does have comfortable straps and fits onto the shoulder easily and comfortably without that oh it's falling off again feeling. I Do like that aspect and ... that is why I am still trying to decide....if I can make it work. The zippers that zip all along it give it the definite tote bag appearance vs purse. But that also makes it fairly easy to reach into and retrieve items.

Batman Bat Symbols Mini Backpack - 10 Inches

When we got this pack my kid was very excited and didn't put it down for about a week. He took it everywhere. I don't expect it to last forever and it is a little small, but I will not fault it because the dimensions are in the description and it's main selling point was Batman's picture. It does that very well! Good kid's pack but i will get the bigger, more durable Kelty next time.

My son just started liking Batman and I was looking for straps with padding came across this mini backpack and it was just perfect. So I bought this sleeve for my 14 inch Toshiba laptop and it is beautiful. The colors are vibrant and the material seems like it is water resistant. I've never had a sleeve before so I don't know if its supposed to have be very snug or have about a half inch of room at the top,which it does. It Isn't all fancy with pockets or other compartments, it is a simple sleeve, but if you're just looking for a beautiful sleve to hold your laptop I'd recommend it.

Colors are vibrant, love the pattern. I just needed a sleeve to protect my laptop while it's in my book bag; I wasn't looking for something really bulky. That being said, I also wouldn't be worried about just carrying my laptop in this alone. Runs a little big for my computer (HP Pavilion Sleek Book 14 inch) but I don't mind. The extra space allows my to put my charger and headphones in with it. Great price for the purpose I need it to serve. Would recommend this product!

We took a chance on this cover, feeling a little concerned that the thickness capacity was listed at only 1". Because it is made of soft material, the inside capacity is easily more than 1", and we were able to fit a mouse inside the cover with the 14" laptop. Great padding and cute as can be. Tenba Shootout™ Dual Purpose Daypack

I purchased this backpack by mistake when intending to order the medium tenba shootout backpack. However, after noticing my error I decided to wait and see how this daypack would meet my needs.

When it arrived I was shocked to see how much space there was for camera gear; more than enough for my 2 D-SLRs and 6 lenses. Also, a (the) great advantage is that you have additional space for some clothing/lunch items which you do not have with the other shootout backpacks. I always carry a light jacket and an extra t-shirt with me when hiking. Thus, I decided of course to go with the daypack. Have used it several times by now and can tell you it is extremely comfortable and robust. It has no space for a laptop. However, I don't carry a laptop with me when hiking. If you are primarely hiking and want your photogear to carry with you to always be ready for nice shots, this dayback is for you. If you are primarily going out for photographing and just need a hike to get to your spots, buy something else.

One tip: On my first travel I used the dayback with a jacket fastened to the bottom loops and always placed it upright with the jacket mounted underneath. This could rip off the gum at the loops because of the heavy weight with full gear inside the backback. I was not happy about that but Amazon was extremely kind to replace the backpack. Be aware to not mount anything beneath when placing it upright!

And a last tip: I always drink a lot when hiking. The tenba bottle caddies are extremely convenient when attached so make sure to order one (or two) when ordering the backpack (not included).

I have been looking for a roomy camera backpack for some time now. I wasn't sure if the sling style (quick shooting) or the full backpack was the way to go. After much product testing in the stores and reading of reviews, as well as, evaluating my own needs I settled on a backpack style.

The shootout daypack is just great. Plenty of space for a good bit of camera gear. Everything is very well cushioned and protected inside. Easy to change the inner configuration to adapt to your gear. Also has lots of extra features like a rain hood, a cover for the straps so they don't get caught when carrying or stowing the back pack, some outside and inside zippered compartments and much more.

I will mostly use this for travel--equipment should be very safe going through airport security checks and will be easy to carry. It is comortable to wear. A very nice feature is the daypack storage area. Not for fragile items but will hold clothing, snacks, water etc. I can also fit in some business folders and tablets.

Product is rugged and well put together--should last a very long time.

Original Backpack Brown

This is a nice, sturdy, smaller backpack, very simply built and without too many needless decorations and zippered pockets. I've been using it for about two weeks now and it's fine for lighter everyday loads, such as my lunch and a couple of library books or even groceries. It has adjustable straps, making it easier to sit lower or higher on one's back, depending on personal preferences. The side and front pockets are fine for smaller items, like pens, keys, smaller notebooks, cellphone, etc. but the water bottle has to go into the main part of the backpack. The main portion also has a zippered pouch, but it's quite small, so that not even my tiny wallet can fit into it.

It doesn't look too sporty or flashy, which to me is the main drawback of the majority of backpacks available in retail shops these days.

All in all, I'm very happy with it and hope it will last as long as my old one did.
