I got this pack because I thought it was similar to the Ariel but in better colors and had pockets on the hip belt (for camera, chapstick, pepperspray), turns out the fit was different enough through the shoulders for me, I had to send it back. I'm an hourglass shape and 5'4" so I'm broad through the shoulders and find that many packs rub my shoulder blades. And the 'eggplant purple' coloring is way off, it's a burgundyI really wanted the purple shown in the picture! Not the pack for me, but a really great pack for a slightly different body shape. This has more pockets and attachments than you would ever need! Fits really well, definitely designed for a female frame.Color was not even close in my opinion (looks really purple in photo) I think a color blind man wrote the description. I would call in Wine red...nice back pack over all. you can totally customize the fit love that!Osprey Aura 50 Backpack
Kelty 18-Liter Daypack
The quality appears to be very good. I find it interesting that the zipper on the front is a big metal zipper but the one on the top that isn't really visible is a plastic zipper. I don't think it's an issue since I've seen metal and plastic zippers wear out.
The colour is a little bit lighter/oranger than in the photos. This backpack didn't work for be because ultimately I was looking for a slightly smaller pack. I own an L.L. Bean from the early 90's that I would like to replace, but the "retro" material of this Kelty was not soft yet durable like backpacks of yore...it was plasticky and hard, like a cheap Jansport. Not for me.amazing bag and it has an icepick hook yay i always need somewhere to put my icepick and now i have somewhere to put my icepick

I bought this online because I found the same basic bag in the store for a smaller computer. I liked how it felt and looked but it was too small for my computer (the one in the store, that is). This bag is big enough for my computer...too big, actually. I found a lot of extra space in the laptop area after I put my computer in. It's a little maddening that I ended up having to choose between too small or too big, but ultimately I am satisfied with this bag. Plus the extra room allows me to have a laptop sleeve over the laptop while it's in the bag, so that allows me to add protection.
If you want a bag that has a snug fit, make sure your computer is 16".
The extra compartments save this bag from getting 3 stars, in my opinion. This will carry quite a bit more than a plain laptop bag, but it is not as burdening compared with a backpack capacity.

This bag rocks! It will carry a large laptop easily with room to spare. I like the organizer being outside the bag right under the main flap. The pocket on the main flap holds a lot to. The cellphone/mediastick pocket is a nice touch. I like the 2 pockets on the side and the magazine/newspaper pocket on the back. The strap is very comfortable and makes the bag easy to carry long distances even if it is fully loaded. I was in school back when I bought this bag because of my new laptop which was 2 inches larger than my old laptop and would not fit in my old laptop bag. The main compartment holds quite a bit and the pocket that's in front of the main compartment but behind the business organizer is very handy as well. My hats off to the maker of this excellent bag. The cost was great and very affordable. All in all, this bag was a steal at $40. It would've been a bargain at even 2 or 3 times that price. Amazon.com RULES!Want Swiss Gear 16" Zinc Canvas Computer Notebook Briefcase Discount?
First off, this is not as long as it is measured to be and some of the pictures with people, on the web, make this bag look too long. It is not. I have to assume that the Amazon measurements take into account the 2 side pockets, stretched to their fullest. Actually, the length is just a hair over 16 inches and measured across the bottom, it is just over 15 inches. There are 2 long partitions inside, one with a Velcro flap over the top middle. There is a zipper closure in the flap on the outside and a Velcro held pocket along the entire backside, 15X10.5 with a matching pocket on the reverse side under the flap and behind the smaller, front pockets. Inside, there are two nylon pockets, 5.5 wide by 5 deep, one has a Velcro flap the other has a smaller mesh pocket on the outside. In the center is a Velcro nylon cell phone pocket, 2.5X4 with 2 pencil holders on the side. On both ends are zippered pockets, 4x6. The entire inside is lined with soft nylon and the partition and back side are padded. The bottom outside is also covered with more sturdy nylon and is also padded. The materials are top notch. The fittings are very good. The stitching and workmanship are as good as it gets. The color is grey/green with the green barely showing up.
Also, which explains the quality, this is made by Wenger, one of two companies authorized to make the Swiss Army Knives. No wonder this looks like it is made to military specs. It also explains the pocket attached to the cell phone pocket; it is for your Swiss Army Knife. Oh, and add a Lifetime Warranty with a flat $10 for shipping.
I would buy another in a minute and if I wasn't sure that this thing will outlast me, I would buy 2.

Deluxe Contemporary Zippered Black Leather Portfolio By BAGS FOR LESSTM
I like the look and feel of the leather exterior. The right side metal edging adds a nice touch that speaks 'class'.
However, the reason this particular portfolio received 4 stars rather than 5 was because the outer zipper closure is cheaply made; a thin metal zipper that could break easily if not carefully used.
Nevertheless, the inside area suits my needs. On the left inside fold is a larger pocket for several documents or perhaps an iPad Mini; a zipper closure area for storing a thin paperback book or 5"x7" notepad; a small removable solar powered calculator; and 3 pockets for business, credit or identification cards. On the right inside is a pocket that can store an 8"x11" notepad. In the center is a small leather holder for a clip pencil or pen. (My portfolio pen holder serves a dual purpose for an iPad highlighting pen and writing instrument.)
The look is sleek and stylish. For the price, the Deluxe Contemporary Zippered Black Leather Portfolio By BAGS FOR LESS is a less expensive alternative for those who want to save some money on their portfolio needs.
As always, please be mindful to research alternatives before choosing your purchase.
The North Face Surge Daypack - Men's
Here are the good points from the last month of living with it:
Very comfortable when worn over both shoulders
Fairly lightweight
Seems very well constructed with quality fabrics, zippers, pulls and stitching
The carry handle is strong and comfortable to use
Lots of storage spots for various everyday necessities
Nice padded and zippered compartment for cell phone/iPod/portable hard drive
Easily accessed, padded compartment for the power adapter
Well-padded laptop compartment
Chest strap adjusts up and down to fit
Waist straps are removable if you don't want them
Carries a lot if you loosen the cinch straps, or becomes compact when cinched (depth wise)
Laptop slides in and out easily. This will be perfect for airport inspection
Here are some of the things that keep it shy of perfection:
I don't like the appearance of the rubber accents connected to three of the straps and to the daisy chain
The daisy chain is too short to be of any use
Laptop padding is too thick between compartments. There are two long foam tubes that rob from the depth of the 2nd compartment
Cell phone pocket on shoulder harness only accepts small, narrow phones.
Easier, one-handed access to outside compartments would be nice
Bottle-holders are effective, but difficult to load while wearing the pack
Pockets in the second storage compartment are flimsy. They do not hold things in place very well.
All in all, I am very pleased. I loved my North Face Enterprise pack, but needed something that would protect my new laptop. The Surge is far more comfortable than any other similar packs I have worn from Jansport, Kelty, Lowe and The North Face. If you like to carry your pack over one shoulder, it must be held in place, but is carried effortlessly while on two shoulders. The fact that I have not been tempted to go back to my old, beloved pack is testament to how good this one is. I have yet to travel with it by air, but I'm sure I can pack enough in it for an overnight trip while still packing the laptop.I bought this bag when my Dell laptop bag that i received with my XPS M1530 started fraying and tearing. The reason for this was that I would always leave for classes (I'm a college student) with my laptop and a bunch of books and I don't think that bag was built for that kind of loads. Anyways, I was looking for a very sturdy bag that was spacious and could hold a lot of weight. I have had good expereinces with The North Face in the past, so I decided to go for the Surge.
I have been using it almost for 6-8 months now. It is very spacious. Holds my 15" laptop, and ton of books, notebooks etc. It has a special compartment for the AC adapter of the laptop which is pretty nifty. It is extremely rugged showing absolutely no signs of wear and tear. One of the best things about it is that its compeletely waterproof. I don't ever worry about getting my laptop wet if I'm caught in rain.
Yes, it is expensive compared to other backpacks, but it's worth every penny of your money. You can rest assured this bag will see you through for atleast 2 years, maybe more.
Update:
I'v been using the bag for almost 2 years now, and in this duration, I have used it and abused it. Apart from college stuff, I have taken is trekking, rock climbing, backpacking, filled it till it was almost bursting at times, and it is yet to show the slightest hint of tear. Its built rock solid.

So i bought this backpack to use at college this fall. I looked online at many different backpacks and brands and decided on this the Surge. It easily fits my Dell Studio XPS 16 in the laptop compartment. There is another large pocket which can hold several books at a time. There is also a rather large pocket that is divided which is good for holding small electronics and pens and pencils and other smaller items. I have carried it all over campus with books and other stuff and it doesn't bother my back at all. I also have used it in the Adirondacks. I climbed up 4 of the high peaks and had no problems whatsoever. I also used it to day hike Mt. Washington. I only really have two complaints about it. One is that there is no designated hole for the hose of a hydration bladder, not a big deal. The other is that the water bottle holders do not hold the wide-mouth 32 oz Nalgene bottles. I use it almost everyday and it seems very durable and reliable and I would highly recommend it!Read Best Reviews of The North Face Surge Daypack - Men's Here
Purchased the Surge about 4 years ago and LOVED it. Unfortunately the pack was stolen from my vehicle (thank you Atlanta, GA). Without hesitation I ordered a new one same color and all. For some reason North Face redesigned the two front slots of this pack, completely ruining what was a perfect backpack. Version One had four compartments from front to back. 1) compartment for pens, pencils, etc. 2) full compartment for books, folders 3) full compartment for books, folders and 4) padded slot for laptop. The New Version rearranged the first two compartments. The first compartment now has zippered mesh storage with openings so small you can barely get a hand into them. Not sure of their purpose. The second compartment is now used for storage of pens and pencils making it completely useless for anything but, well, pens and pencils. Basically, where one used to be able to organize books and folders into two compartments, you now have to jam them all into one compartment. Being able to split stuff up into two compartments sure was a nice way to keep organized. I say to North Face bring back the original design!Update: OK, agree that the quality of construction is excellent. Still not happy with the design "update" that negatively impacted functionality. This is my first review of any product I have ever owned. I just want to say that I have had this backpack for more than 3 years. I had a 19 inch laptop which fit in the laptop compartment and I had no problems going through airports, trains, buses, taxis and walking through just about everywhere. I used this backpack when I first entered Basic training 3 years ago and from there I have been using it every day in my travels from Iraq, Japan, Singapore, Philippines and during long trips and stopovers this backpack is very convenient even when fully loaded. Oh and now I have a MacBook Pro and it feels like I can put so much more stuff in there now. I usually carry My Macbook Pro, Bose portable speaker, Chargers/external hard drive/wires for everything, a bottle of Liquor and other things inside it and water bottles on the side compartments and this bag instantly carries my party wherever I go! Usually to the beach. And through all of this I just gave it an inspection and there are no Tears or Rips. It feels comfortable every time I wear it with both shoulders and only in the Mesh from the Side pocket is ripped because I must have put my knife in there on accident bit it is still useful for holding a water bottle or my work gloves. If I had to buy another backpack I would not hesitate to get this again.
eBags eTech 2.0 Macroloader Laptop Backpack
Upon arrival, I found that that backpack just didn't have the room I expected. Therefore, I moved on to this
eBags backpack. I am delighted with it. Lots of room to stuff a light jacket AND my ample purse, along with
my ipad, water, etc. Thus getting around the number of bags being carried on to the plane. This bag appears
to be very well made. I usually don't write reviews until I have used the product extensively. I feel certain
that this pack IS what I need. LOTS OF ROOM!!! And it is a pretty color. ;)I am a big fan of the eBags brand and own several items already including a Downloader laptop knapsack from 2005. That bag is still going strong but unfortunately I now need a bigger bag to accommodate my many larger and heavier school books. The Macroloader is a wonderful bag and will not disappoint.
The e-reader pocket is a great feature. It lies in the main compartment adjacent to the anterior wall of the laptop compartment so it's protected on that side. The main compartment is huge and can accommodate all of the books I need for class and then some. The front storage area is chock full of pockets both with and without light padding. The padded ones are great for your smartphone, voice recorder, camera or MP3 player. There are mesh pockets which are great because you can see exactly what's in there a good place for headphones, USB cables and small miscellaneous wires. The side pockets are a bigger than my Downloader knapsack. The mesh side pocket is great for a water bottle and since it's now bigger the water bottle seems fit much better. The other side pocket has a leash for your keys so you always know where they are in addition to loops for pens, pencils and lip balm. Last but not least, there is a front zip pocket for things you need to get to immediately.
A few changes I would like to suggest to the ebags design team is to include a 3-sided foam insert inside the laptop compartment. It would be a big help for folks like me who do not have a large laptop. I only have an 11.6" computer and it shifts around so much in the laptop compartment. In order to solve the problem, I insert the computer horizontally so it fits snugly without too much movement. I took the foam insert from my old Downloader and place it on top of the laptop. There is still plenty of space on top of that where I put my power adapter brick and emergency umbrella. For all of you out there with larger laptops, this bag will be perfect.

Baggallini Messenger Bag
I don't have any clanging zippers, but did find that the adjustable strap keeps slipping through the metal holder (I like the bag at waist length, close to the body, and the strap is long), perhaps because the nylon it is made of is so smooth. I solved this by getting a cheap metal barrette and closing it around the strap right below the holder (it works!). Another interesting aspect is that the bag is a lot more comfortable to carry when slung over the right shoulder -not made for lefties! I'm a lefty, but this doesn't bother me.
Buy Baggallini Messenger Bag Now
I did a lot of research before deciding to purchase a Baggallini messenger bag; I wanted something roomy enough to carry books and various other items, but not as big or cumbersome as a regular messenger bag. The Baggallini fits the bill in both style and function. Like another reviewer of the same bag, I find that the shoulder strap slips, so the bag hangs lower than it should on a petite frame like mine, but this is not really a problem. The Baggallini has a LOT of room for a bag its size; multiple pockets and places to stash things, and I especially love the shoulder strap mobile phone 'pocket'. I can easily carry three medium-sized books and still have plenty of space for my wallet and other sundry items. I really like the mesh interior (a bright orange-red in the espresso bag) because it allows you to find things without having to rummage around. I also like the snap-on key ring holder; a bonus for someone who is continually losing their keys! I don't find that the zipper tabs make much noise; or if they do, I don't notice it. I am so taken with this bag that I will probably order a couple of others in different colours. I feel terribly stylish when I wear it.Read Best Reviews of Baggallini Messenger Bag Here
I bought this bag about two weeks ago in preparation for my trip to the UK at the end of December based on the great user reviews. I tested it out on a day trip to Disneyland a few days back and had a terrible time with it. My back was killing me! I realized that this bag was not made for short people at all! I adjusted the straps as tight as they could go, but the bag still hung way too low. I am 5'2" and it needs to be about 2 inches higher to fit perfectly and not cause any back pain. If you are taller this bag would be perfect. But if you are petite, I would recommend going to REI and testing out bags in person.I would have rated this two stars, but customer service was great and they are refunding my money.I bought this bag to replace the Ameribag I had purchased the year before. The Ameribag is advertised as being ergonomic, but I found that, being designed to be worn on one shoulder, it made my opposite shoulder rise to compensate for the weight of the bag. Over time, it caused me to walk crookedly, creating problems for my back. I decided to try the Baggalini Messenger Bagg so that I could sling it over one shoulder, but put the bulk of the bag in the front. My back pains have subsided, and I am walking much straighter now.

JanSport Superbreak Colorblock Classics Series Daypack
On to the product. When I opened the box, my first impression of this item was not good at all. I'll break this down into the different parts of the backpack:
Material: The material is much thinner than I expected. I have my doubts on whether it will hold up over time.
Sturdiness: I also was unhappy that there was no type of support on/in the base of the bag. That and the flimsy material result in the bag constantly falling over unless it's packed full of books. It certainly won't stand on its own when empty either, unless stuffed full of tissues (like the impression the product page image gives).
Padding: The padding is another poor spot for me. The foam in the straps is pretty firm and I'm not sure if you wouldn't be just as good without it altogether. The padding on the back of the bag doesn't even run the width of the bag! If you look at the product images, the pad stops where the straps are (about 2" from the sides), so if you carry the pack over one shoulder you'll most likely have books poking you.
Construction/Design: The stitching and zipper on the bag are it's only redeeming qualities for me. The nylon zippers are pretty beefy and probably the same used on more expensive JanSport products. There are NO additional pockets other than the large one on the front. This definitely limits your ability to keep things organized.
Value: Poor. This isn't what I would expect from a JanSport product. I paid $28 for the purple bag for my son. There were a few other colors a little less expensive, but that's about the average price and as usual, Amazon had the best price. This replaced a 2 yr old Transformers backpack that frankly was better made and purchased at a discount brick and mortar for half the price. Whether or not it lasts as long remains to be seen. The only reason I've given it at least 2 stars is because it hasn't been tested yet. I will post an update after the bag has some miles on it.All of my kids have used Jansport backpacks for years. They are great, durable and light weight. I would say this size is good for up to 6th or 7th grade. Although my 8th grader crams in alot and has maxed out it's capacity and it is still going strong. I've never had to use Jansport's lifetime warranty. Cute backpacks too!

Rockland Luggage 19 Inch Tote Bag
As I noted previously, I purchased the duffle bag in late March 2011. I thought the bag was great, as all aspects of the bag seemed to be sturdy. However, no more than 6-8 uses, and less than one year later (on March 13, 2012), I was packing for a trip. I had eight shirts in the bag, went to pick it up to put my curling iron in it, and I heard a tear! Upon further inspection of the bag, I noticed that it had tore at the seam on the left side (a good size tear, I would say about 5-6 inches maybe). I went to the store and bought another bag for my trip, since I was in a hurry, I didn't have time to shop around for one that was comparable to the size of the Rockland duffle bag that had tore, but I thought "I'll suck it up and use the new one now even though its much smaller, and deal with the torn one when I get home, it has a warranty".
When I got home, I decided to try and take care of the problem, no big deal, right? WRONG! I contacted "Fox Luggage" (apparently the makers of Rockland), and they emailed me the warranty claim form. On the form, it noted that I had to send them the bag back so they could "inspect it" and ensure that it would be convered under warranty, along with $25 for handling. Well, I didn't expect them to ship me a new one without seeing what had happened to the one I had, and I didn't expect that they would ship me out another one for free either, but I thought $25 was outrageous seeing as to how the bag costed me $20 here on Amazon last year, and the same exact one that I have is on clearance at Target for $14.44 (as of 4/3/12)! I emailed them again and told them that such a warranty would only benefit someone who purchased one of their more "higher priced" luggage sets, and it would do me, or anyone else that had purchased this duffle bag (or even the one with wheels) no good. It wasn't surprising that I never heard back from them.
Now normally, I am NOT the type of consumer to "complain", (particularly for a $20 product that I can now purchase for $14), but I was very disappointed in the way Fox Luggage handled this. The bag that I have has NEVER seen an airport, bus or train station, it has only seen the trunk of my car (6-8 times as noted previously). It still looks BRAND NEW (except for the tear on the side), and even smells brand new! Had I got a couple of years use out of it, and at least another 6-8 uses, I probably wouldn't be here, but I feel that I totally got ripped off, and their customer service was not very good either. So much for the compliments on my bag, I wonder how many I will get now that I tell everyone that Rockland (Fox Luggage) was so unhelpful.
In closing, I truly wish companies would not boast about their "warranty" unless they are willing to [fairly] follow through with it for each customer who purchased their product. Regardless of whether the bag was $500 or $14, it's only fair that the company ensure that regardless of how much each customer spent on their product, they have a fair opportunity to make use of the warranty that is given should they need to. But, I guess according to Fox Luggage (Rockland), only those who purchase higher priced products are worthy of being able to fairly take advantage of their warranty-what a shame. I will never purchase another Fox Luggage product again, and I will be sure to share my personal experience and opinions about Fox Luggage (Rockland) to anyone who is willing to listen. I went ahead and purchased the same bag again from Target for $14, but I will be returning it tomorrow as I will not knowingly support a company that makes a 3 year warranty one of their major selling points, and instead uses it to disadvantage its consumers a second time.I purchased this as a Christmas gift. Cute bag, however, After only ONE use, the bag start too pull away from the zipped. No worries right because it has a three year warranty right. WRONG! THERE IS A $25 S/H charge. The bag was only $17.
